Lori woke up not knowing any single detail about herself. She worked as a waitress for her madame who claimed she saved her and lived a few years of her life there. Jordan Knight, a widower and a father of two lost his wife due to childbirth. A woman he loved more than anything else. The pain he felt was great like a dagger plunged into his heart a million times. But for the sake of his newly born kids, he had to step up. He had to be there for them. Only to discover that four years later, a woman he mourned and buried was alive and he found her. What the hell happened to her became the bigger question.

Chapter 1

Her heart skipped as her husband flew on the bed, bouncing it a bit. She gaped at him. "Are you serious?"

He didn't answer. All he did was place his right hand on her body and closed his eyes.

She shook her head at him. "It seems you're forgetting I'm a pregnant woman, ah?"

He opened his eyes, his gaze meeting hers. "How could I forget?" He said, before placing a kiss on her forehead. "Did I do anything bad?"

She scoffed. "I hope our baby doesn't carry your recklessness." She stated with a frown on her face.

He looked away, feeling clueless. "Did I do anything wrong?"

"You gave me a shock. You want to give me an early heart attack?" She questioned in disbelief.

He blinked, looking at her. "Oh. I'm...I'm sorry."

She smiled at him. "You're something else, Jordan."

He grinned and placed a soft kiss on her lips. "I love you. So much."

She ran her hand through his disheveled hair, a smile on her face. "And I love you too."

"Mr. Knight."

Jordan blinked, a shock running through his vein as he was suddenly jerked out of his dreamy state. His brows furrowed and he looked up at his secretary, Nora already close to his desk, before sighing. "What is it?"

"I came to hand over the project file, sir. They want you to scan through it, hoping you consent to it." Nora informed extending the file toward him.

He sighed and took it from her. "Why is he being desperate? He could just bring it out at the board meeting."

Nora just lowered her head, not having a reply for that.

Jordan dropped the file on his desk and looked at her. "Anything else?"

"Your kids are on their way here, sir." She informed.

His mouth curved into a smile. "That's good." He looked at his wristwatch. "The meeting is an hour and thirty minutes later..."

"They will be here before then, sir."

He was more worried about leaving his kids after he goes to the meeting but he trusted his agents to protect them and keep them company before he arrives.

Jordan nodded. "Of course. Leave."

She nodded and left.

He looked at the picture frame of his wife he hung in front of his office and sighed wondering if he was ever gonna get over her death. It's been four years and he still can't stop thinking about her.

All he could do was remember their beautiful times spent together or wished she hadn't died through childbirth.

He heard a soft knock on his door and tilted his head to the side since he noticed it was coming from below. He smiled knowing it was his kids. His sons. "Come in." He hollered.

The door was opened for them and he stood as they both ran to him with happy faces. "Daddy!" They said in unison.

He picked them up and carried them. "Hey. How are you guys?"

"Fine." They answered.

Jordan looked at the agent. "You can leave."

The agent gave him a nod and left his office.

Jordan went back to sit on his chair with his hands wrapped around them both. "So what did you do today?" He questioned.

One of his sons, Jaden tried to pull off his school bag and Jordan carefully did it for him while the other one Jason pulled his own off. They opened their bags and brought out sketch paper. "They said we should draw what we wish to happen, so I drew this." Jaden showed his father.

Jordan stared at the funny picture, a smile curved on his face understanding what the picture meant. It was his figure, their figures, and...their mommy. "It's...beautiful."

Jaden smiled and nodded, looking at it.

Jordan looked at Jason. "What about yours? Let me see."

Jason shook his head. "No."

Jordan looked at him in amusement. "No? Why no?"

"Cause I didn't draw mommy," Jason answered with a pouted expression.

Jordan chuckled. "It doesn't matter. Just show me."

Jason nodded and showed him. Jordan's brow raised at the clear picture. "It's you wearing a helmet and uh, a coat?"

Jason nodded. "An engineer." He clarified.

Jordan looked at him. "Wow, son. You want to be an engineer?"

Jason nodded. "Yeah."

Jordan smiled and looked at Jaden. "What about you?"

Jaden shrugged. "Don't know. Yet."

Jordan nodded. "You'll definitely know very soon." Then he placed a kiss on both their hair.

His kids are his only family as a matter of fact. He's got no one else.

His parents died in a car crash when he was five and as they were about to move him to an orphanage, his uncle, his father's brother came for him and took custody. Things were going fine, his uncle handling his father's company til he was ready, but then when he got to sixteen years, he died...in a car crash.

He felt like he was doomed like he was a harbinger of death. Whoever gets close to him dies but when he met his wife, he fell in love and he just couldn't say no to himself. He wanted her, he was selfish.

After a year of their marriage, she equally died after giving birth to their sons. He was hurt. He has never felt so pained and angry in his life. He blamed himself for so long because he was at fault. He was a cursed man and he made his wife die.

But his kids gave him hope. His kids made him get right back on track. They were his world and the only thing he's ever gonna love wholeheartedly.

That's why he does whatever it takes to protect them cause he can't lose them too. It'll kill him.

"You guys are gonna have to wait for daddy here. I've got a meeting to attend, okay?" He told them.

They nodded. "We'll play some games and do our homework. We can, right?" Jaden asked.

Jordan smiled. "Of course. I'll get Marc and Owen. I know you guys prefer them."

They immediately nodded with brightened expressions. "Thanks, daddy."

Chapter 2

"LORI!!"

Lori shook in fear at the height of the voice that called her name. It obviously couldn't be good. She stood up and opened the door expecting the worse and just as she thought, a gasp escaped from her mouth as a slap landed on her face. She swallowed and blinked away the tears threatening to escape before looking back at her with her gaze facing the concrete floor.

"What are you doing in here?"

Lori let out a shaky breath. "No...I just...I wanted to take a little break, that's all."

"LITTLE BREAK!!" Her boss yelled, a small frown showing on her face at the saliva that was spat on her. "Who said you could take a break?!!"

Lori kept quiet since that was obviously the best thing to do.

"Now get out of this room right now, there are so many customers that need to be served. GET OUT!!."

Lori didn't waste any time. She rushed out of her room and back to the bar wit
