Annotation

I, Sulli, the wolfless werewolf, found myself exiled from my pack, the Nixx Pack. My parents' wrongdoing had cost them their lives and our pack dearly. Lost and with nowhere to turn, I ended up in the woods and got attacked by rogue wolves. I was unaware that I'd trespassed into the territory of the BrimeStone Pack, rivals of the Nixx Pack. Unable to defend myself, I ran until I reached a dead end. I thought all hope was lost when I heard a commotion. The rogue wolves were dropping dead one by one. I covered my ears and eyes, huddling in a corner. When the sounds ceased, I slowly opened my eyes, and they fell upon a tall, brooding stranger. The creature knocked me out. Upon waking, I found myself in a cottage. I got to find out the owner was Ron, a barbarian Alpha and protector of the BrimeStone Pack. I was terrified of him, but I had no other place to go. I had to stay with him, even though he didn't want me around and preferred solitude. I noticed he was cold, rarely spoke, and had a short temper. We argued over the smallest things. During our time together, I once ventured out and bumped into the Werewolf Prince of the BrimeStone Pack, Cole. He became utterly smitten with me and that's when life got more complicated. Why did I feel that Cole was my mate, despite Ron and I sharing the same birthmark on our chests?

I don't know how everything went so wrong, but here I am, in the middle of the woods, with no pack, no family, and no place to call home. It's all because of my parents and what they did. They cost us our lives and the Nixx Pack a whole lot. But I didn't ask for any of this.

I'm just Sulli, a wolfless werewolf, trying to survive.

The forest around me is dense and unforgiving, casting long, ghostlike shadows - the more I look, the scarier it gets. As I move through the trees, the memories of my old pack, the one that cast me out, doesn't seem to leave my heart. Their words, like sharp claws, still scratch at the edges of my mind. I'm a pariah, an outcast, and I don't belong anywhere.

My footsteps echo through the silence and I'm reminded of this solitude I've been forced into accepting. That's when it happens. I stumble into a place I shouldn't be. I don't recognise the terrain.

It seems I've crossed the Nixx Pack's borders. I'm in unfamiliar territory and my fear only multiplies. I don't even realise it until it's too late. These woods, so familiar to me, are now a danger I never expected.

Suddenly, they surround me, rogue wolves, hungry and aggressive. I can't fight them off, not like this. Fear grips my heart as I turn and run, but it's no use. I'm trapped. They will catch me even if I run as fast as I can.

Their merciless sneers at me are mixed with their low and deafening growls.

I know it's stupid but my survival instincts take control. It's what any reasonable human would do in this situation.

The forest seems to close in on me as I sprint, each heartbeat echoing in my ears. Desperation pushes me further, and I don't dare look back. Until, finally, I reach a dead end. It's a cruel joke, a cliff, with nowhere left to run.

The rogue wolves stop behind me and I swear I feel their hot breaths on my neck as if they're so close, and their growls get louder. I have no options left, no tricks up my sleeve. All hope drains from me as I crouch into a corner behind a rock, huddling with my hands covering my ears and my eyes squeezed shut.

"Dear Goddess… if this is how you want to kill me, let it be quick and done. Please Goddess, don't let me feel a thing..." my feverish voice escapes from my mouth as I quickly mutter a prayer to a deity I always believed forsook me and my family.

Suddenly, as if the goddess has answered my muttered prayers, I hear noises.

The chaos erupts. I hear snarls and yelps, but I can't bear to witness it. I don't want to see the end coming. The noise continues, and I curl into a smaller ball, praying it's over soon. It's as if people, animals…creatures are fighting. Hell, I know it's a fight but I'll be a dead woman if I dare to look.

Slowly, the noise dies down.

In the silence that follows, I dare to peek out, slowly opening my eyes, and they land on something that makes my blood run dry.

A massive werewolf, standing tall and fierce in front of me. Why do I feel he is the one who just saved me? My heart races again, but this time with surprise. Who is he? Where did he come from? He knocks out the last rogue, and I'm left trembling in the aftermath of it all.

He turns his gaze toward me, and I can't look away. His eyes are intense, filled with an unknown force. I open my mouth to speak, but no words come out. I'm paralyzed, not by fear this time, but by a strange mixture of awe and gratitude.

The creature, this unknown saviour, doesn't give me much time to ponder. In an instant, everything goes black as he knocks me out.

When I wake up, I'm not in the woods anymore. I'm in a small cottage, on a wooden floor that feels hard and strange under me. I blink and sit up, my head spinning, and I notice the room is lit by a flickering fire at the corner. I hold my head and rub on my crown, subduing any migraines from discomforting me.

Then I see him again.

I suppose he's the owner of this place. He's a big, brawny guy with a scowl on his face, standing there like some sort of bodyguard.

I strangely feel both relieved and confused. I want to thank him, but words fail me. My voice is just a whisper as I mumble, "Where... am I?"

His gaze doesn't waver as he grunts, "BrimeStone territory. You stumbled into it."

I gulp hard. BrimeStone? BrimeStone pack? Dear Goddess, why are you so wicked to me? Am I really cursed or jinxed?

Of all the places I could stumble into, why the pack that's an enemy to my pack?

Realising that I'm in the rival pack's territory, fear flows through me again. But it's clear that he saved me from the rogue wolves, and I can't help but wonder why.

As I sit there, bewildered, I decide to open up a bit. Maybe if he knows I'm not a threat, he won't toss me back out into the woods. I mumble about my parents, how they messed everything up and got themselves killed, how my pack kicked me out like I was some kind of curse.

His eyes flicker with something I can't quite place, and he grunts, "You're a wolfless werewolf, huh? That's rare."

I nod, feeling a new wave of sadness wash over me. I'm different, and not in a good way. I've been different my whole life. I don't always have to be reminded of it.

He doesn't say much, and neither do I. We just sit there in silence, and I can't help but notice how cold and unwelcoming he is. I don't know why he's letting me stay here, but I'm not about to question it.

As the fire crackles and the minutes turn into hours, I can't help but wonder about this strange, brooding man-beast, because that's how I can best describe him, and what my future holds in this unfamiliar territory.

× Sulli ×I just noticed the clock on the wall. It's already dark outside. We've been sitting like this for hours.I'm scared, I can't deny it. His presence is imposing, and his gaze is as cold as ice. But I know I can't go anywhere else. I have no pack, no one to turn to. I'm an outsider, and this territory is my only shelter now, no matter how unwelcoming it might be.He's not happy about my presence. I can tell that much. He wants his solitude, and I'm an unwanted guest in his cottage. But he brought me here himself. I'm not complaining…I mean where else can I go? I have no one to turn to and I don't have any options left.He grunts and his voice is as cold as his eyes. "You stumbled into my territory. Why?"His territory? To distil my fear, I play with the hem of the blanket between my fingers, "I didn't mean to. I was just trying to
