Chapter 1

Chapter one

                      Della's Pov

The cold wind seeped into my skin through the thin blush pink blouse I wore, dark clouds loomed in the sky signaling an impending storm, everyone passing by had their umbrella and I just stood under the shade with no clue what to do if it started raining.

My phone vibrated in my pocket and I quickly searched my bag taking it out. I was expecting a call from Andre but I got one from Silas instead.

I swallowed knowing I'm about to get stood up again, I hated how tears blurred my vision as I picked up the phone.

"Hello," My voice was firm despite the heavy lump in my throat.

"Hello Mrs. Winchester, the boss won't be meeting with you today and he had an important meeting so he couldn't meet up" Silas stated.

Excuses. A lot of excuses just so he doesn't meet me.

I was done with his nonsense.

"Alright. So when is he going to see me?" I asked adjusting the worn-out messenger bag on my shoulder.

"His schedule is tight but I think next weekend will be better. I'm sorry Mrs Winchester" Silas apologized even though I know that wasn't part of his script.

But it's a habit, he always apologized out of respect for me because I used to be his boss's wife.

My fist clenched as I recalled how many times he had canceled now, I hung up the phone and noticed the rain was drizzling.

The tears I had been holding back threatened to slip through and I shook my head, it's useless to cry over the past.

I stepped out of the shade and started heading for the park and as I walked the rain increased pouring down in a heavy torrent.

I couldn't run, there was no need. I was already soaked from head to toe, and as people passed by with umbrellas and their bags over their heads I just continued on my way.

I'm pretty sure they must be staring at me wondering if I'm crazy, I will be down with flu if I keep up with this but I don't care.

I don't care about anything anymore.

I was so foolish to think Andre would keep the end of our bargain, he used me and took away all I had then divorced me to marry his secretary.

The same one he was cheating on me with when we were married, the list of neglect and disappointment goes on and on.

A loud horn jolted me out of my thoughts and I turned to see that I was walking in the center of the highway on a red light, I froze as headlights shone in my periphery.

My legs were rooted on the spot despite the loud honking and the sound of tires on the gravel. It was as if my body had made the decision for me but my brain was screaming for me to get off the road.

Do I really want to die like this?

The thought of dying wasn't soothing but it sounded better than how I'm living now. The rain had suddenly stopped falling and I got a whiff of an expensive cologne. A strong grip on my left arm made me jerk as I felt my body moving.

I blinked back the water in my eyelashes, gasping as a man hauled me out of the road, his umbrella was over our head, and the cars I thought were going to kill me waited for us to pass.

"What are you doing? Let go of me!" I struggled to yank my arm from his grip but I failed miserably.

Once we were off the road he practically shoved me away and I stumbled on nothing falling on the ground, I gasped as I lifted my gaze.

Dirty blond hair, ridiculously tall, broad shoulders clad in a black leather jacket with a skull logo at the back, his legs covered with black jeans. He had his back turned on me so I couldn't see his face as he stood beside a BMW motorcycle.

I looked behind him to see other bikers with their helmets on, it seemed like they were watching me.

I quickly stood up from the cold ground, my drenched shirt didn't leave much to cover and the outline of my bra was showing.

Embarrassment washed over me and for a moment I forgot about my predicament.

Did I really want to die?

What if he hadn't saved me?

He threw the umbrella behind him as if he was giving it to me, then put on his helmet.

I ignored the umbrella gesture checking my bag, a groan slipped from my lips as I realized the money with me won't be enough to take a taxi home.

F*ck*ng Andre!

I have exhausted all my money on transportation.

My eyes strayed to the bikers when I heard the revving sound of engines, before I knew it I was walking towards the one who pulled me from the road.

"Please can I hitch a ride? To the subway station," I interjected.

It was as if I was talking to a statue, he ignored me or maybe it's because I can't see his face, I was too desperate to stop so I waved my hand over his helmet.

"I'm sorry did you hear what I said? I will get out of your hair as soon as you drop me off" I added blinking as I felt his gaze on me despite the helmet.

He bobbed his head once and I forced a small smile.

"Thanks a lot"

I noticed the rest of the bikers were still there watching and I furrowed my brows, feeling a weird sense of danger. I don't know these people but I don't think I should care about that right now.

It was difficult to enter the high bike with the long jean skirt I had on, but I managed to make it work. I was surprised by how high the bike was from the ground.

He looked over his shoulder and nodded at something behind me, I turned to see the rest of the bikers still there.

Are they waiting for him?

"Hold on"

A cold intimidating voice ordered and I felt goosebumps from the intensity of that voice, then I realized it was from him.

"Oh... Right, thank you" I mumbled, adjusting the strap of my bag on my shoulder before wrapping my hands on his waist.

I tried as much as possible not to touch him even though it seemed like I was wasting my time, the moment he entered the road I jerked back and my body slammed into his hard back with force.

What the hell!

He should watch his speed-

He increased the speed leaving the rest of the bikers behind.

I clung to him frightened as he drifted past a truck overtaking an Audi, my breathing turned ragged and my arms tightened on his body.

His warmth seeping into my skin, even with the rain drizzling down on us, I didn't feel cold and I hated how I liked it.

He stiffened under my tight grip then I realized how hard I was crushing him with my grip and I pulled away, regretting it instantly as I slammed on his back again.

"Can you slow down-"

"I told you to hold on" His cold voice disrupted me.

I obliged keeping my mouth shut.

We were close to the subway station so I will reserve my comments until we get there.

"Where do you live?" He asked and I shuddered.

"Huh?"

"Where do you live?" He questioned again.

My brain tried coming up with a good response to his question, all I could think of were snarky remarks but I managed to reply.

"Far from here"

"How far?" He inquired and I panicked.

"Um... Why do you ask?" I threw back at him.

"So I can drop you off, a woman walking alone in the subway station with wet clothes is bound to draw some unwanted attention" He explained and I was caught off guard by his answer.

"And how do I know if I can trust that you aren't one of those unwanted attention" I remarked.

"You came to me," He reminded.

"You could be a serial killer for all I know or some biker gangsta" I teased but he didn't reply.

"West, downtown. Reilly Florence street" I told him my address.

"I thought you didn't trust me" His voice was laced with amusement and I smiled.

"Well you helped me before so I guess I chose the devil I know" I replied.

"You don't know me"

"I'm trusting my gut on this one not you" I retorted.

"You have zero survival instincts if your gut tells you to give a stranger your address"

The smile wiped off my face and I shut my mouth after that, I found myself thinking about what he meant by that.

Did I make a mistake?

Chapter two

                     Della's Pov

The rain had stopped by the time we arrived at my apartment building, his comment earlier had made me feel uneasy about bringing him to my house.

I hopped off the bike and adjusted the strap of my bag on my shoulder, I looked everywhere but him as I stared at my shoes like I was just seeing the pair for the first time.

"First floor"

I furrowed my brows diverting my attention to the biker, "What?" I asked confused.

"You stay on the first floor, on the right side," He said and my eyes widened.

My feet moved backwards on their own accord.

What... How?!

"How did you know that?" I demanded.

"It's the only apartment with the lights out, which means no one is home. How did you think I knew?" He questioned and I wished he would take the stupid helmet on so I could see his facial expression.

"I don't know, I just find it weird that you would know that since we just met. I'
