CHAPTER 1 - The Broken Engagement (Liam’s POV)

CHAPTER 1  - The Broken Engagement (Liam’s POV)

I should have known better!

Inwardly, I cursed at the d*mn woman who dared to make me believe in something she wasn’t! I was seething with anger as I recalled what happened that night. I should have known better but I believed her!

I should have seen the warning signs, the subtle things, or the way she avoided my gaze, how her sweet smiles always felt a little too perfect, but I ignored them. After all, an arranged engagement  to the President’s illegitimate daughter wasn’t something  I could easily walk from, no matter how uneasy it made me.

I wasn’t in love with Katherine Hamilton in the beginning. I didn’t have to be. Ours wasn’t that kind of a relationship but what I didn’t expect was how far the lies would go. It happened late one evening when I realized what kind of woman I was supposed to marry. I had just finished a meeting at the office, one that had dragged on for hours, and all I wanted was to get home, shut the world out, and sink into a bottle of something strong, but my phone buzzed, and Katherine’s name flashed across the screen.

Come over. We need to talk.

Her message was vague, but I couldn’t refuse. After all, we were still engaged. Whatever it was, I figured we’d discuss wedding plans or some other detail I didn’t care about. But when I arrived at the penthouse we shared as a couple, I was greeted by something I never imagined.

Katherine stood in the doorway, wearing nothing but a silk robe, and it was loosely tied at the waist. Her hair was tousled and there was a wild gleam in her eyes that I hadn’t seen before. Was she high on drugs? I wanted to confirm if the rumors were true that she was a drug user, but she smiled at me, and distracted me! However, I noticed that her smile wasn’t the sweet, innocent smile she usually wore, but something else….something darker!

"Liam," she purred, stepping aside to let me in. "I’ve been waiting for you,” she whispered as she planted a kiss on my cheek.

I frowned because I already sensed that something was off. Initially, I thought she was high on drugs, but when she kissed me, I caught a whiff of alcohol from her breath. So, she was just drunk!

"What’s going on, Katherine?" I asked her but she didn’t answer right away. Instead, she walked deeper into the penthouse, and her hips swayed in a way that was meant to be seductive. I followed her even if my instincts screamed at me to leave, but I stayed.

And when we reached the living room, that’s when I saw him! There was another man who was lounging casually on the couch. He was shirtless and there was a smug look on his face. He glanced at me but he didn’t even bother to cover up or make any excuses. He just sat there and watched me being shocked. Then, her eyes darted toward Katherine, and roamed over her seductive form as if I wasn’t in the room.

“Meet Damien, Liam. He’s been keeping me company while you’ve been so busy with work,” she said and my hands clenched into fists at my sides.

“What the hell is this, Katherine?”  I asked but she just ignored me as she walked over to the man named Damien and draped herself across his lap. While doing it, her robe slipped open enough to reveal more than I wanted to see. “I asked you a question, Katherine! D*mn it!”

“I wanted to spice things up,” she said and her lips curled into a mischievous smile. “You have been so distant lately, and I thought maybe you’d want to join us.”

It took me a moment to process what she was saying. A threesome. She was inviting me to join her and her lover. My stomach turned at the idea and several questions were running inside my head. This was the woman I was supposed to marry? A woman who was openly flaunting her affair in my face and then had the audacity to suggest I take part in it? The audacity! It was disgusting to even imagine! I was disgusted and a deep, seething rage struggled to consume me.

“You’re joking, right?” I asked and she laughed.

“Come on, Liam. Don’t be so uptight. You’re not jealous, are you? We can have some fun, you know, and Damien doesn’t mind sharing, do you, darling?”

Damien smirked and said,  “Not at all, darling. The more, the merrier.”

My jaw tightened and I wanted to punch Damien on the face but I held myself well. I had thought Katherine was manipulative, but this? It was beyond anything I could have imagined! She wasn’t just lying or cheating. She was trying to humiliate me, and made me part of her twisted little game.

“Is this what you’ve been doing behind my back the whole time?” I inquired and she shrugged her shoulders.

“You were never really here, Liam. We both know this engagement isn’t about love. So why not have a little fun while we’re at it?”

That was it. I couldn’t take another second of this! Without a word, I turned on my heel and walked toward the door. I could hear her calling after me, laughing, but I didn’t stop. I didn’t look back. My entire body was tense with fury as I processed the reality of what had just happened.

The engagement was over! There was no coming back from this. Not now, not ever!

As I stepped into the night, the cold air hit my face, but it did nothing to cool the rage burning inside me. I felt disgusted by Katherine, and by myself for ever thinking I could go through with this marriage.

I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. The engagement had been doomed from the start. I had known that, but I had stayed for the sake of duty for my family. Now, though, there was no way I could continue with the lie. It was time to walk away for good.

In the world where I lived, appearance could be deceiving, and I learned that lesson the hard way, thanks to Katherine Hamilton, the President’s illegitimate daughter. From the moment our engagement was announced, I was supposed to smile and play the part, but behind the glimmering exterior, something was rotten.

When I first met her, I was mesmerized by her beauty. She had been the picture of innocence and virtue, and she played the role perfectly! Her doe-eyed glances, her gentle laughter,  and the way she clung to my arm at social events were so giving that she was indeed a pampered daughter who was raised to be perfect. To everyone else, she was the perfect match for me, but to me, she was just a carefully crafted lie.

During our engagement, I couldn’t help myself from falling for her, but she did something I wouldn’t be able to forgive. She betrayed me! She deceived me and betrayed my trust, only God knows how many times she betrayed me!

“D*mn it!” I cursed as my eyes darted back to the penthouse where she was probably having fun with Damien!

It was our mutual decision to live together while waiting for our wedding day. It was fun and exciting , but I saw her tangled with another man in our living room. She was the woman I was supposed to marry but she dared to bring a man inside our apartment! It was unacceptable!

D*mn it!

I cursed heavily as I decided to return to the penthouse. She wanted to humiliate me? Then, bring it on! She had no idea what kind of life I had before being engaged with her. The darn woman probably thought I was naive and so innocent! Soon, she would see what kind of man she dared to humiliate!

When I returned to the penthouse, she was shocked to see me again. She was tangled with Damien on the couch and they were both naked. When her eyes found me, she smiled seductively but I smirked at her.

“Wanna join us, Liam?” she asked as if it was normal to have two men by her side.

Come on, Liam. Don’t be so uptight. You’re not jealous, are you? We can have some fun. Damien doesn’t mind sharing, do you, darling?

I could still hear the laughter in her voice, the way she said it as if it was the most natural thing in the world. My eyes flicked from Katherine who was sprawled across Damien’s lap while they were both naked.

“Did you come back to have fun?” Katherine asked another question.

"Fun?" I repeated and her lips curled. Then there was an amused glint in her eyes as she slid further into Damien’s embrace.

“Liam, don’t act like you haven’t thought about it. You’re too… restrained. It’s why I thought this might loosen you up,” she said as she moved her hand slowly across Damien’s chest.

Her fingers had drawn lazy circles over his skin while her eyes never left mine. While watching her doing that to another man, the room seemed to close in on me and I wanted to throw a punch in the man’s face.

Katherine knew what she was doing and I couldn’t tear my gaze away even though I wanted to. The scene in front of me was something I had never imagined witnessing. Then, her breath hitched as Damien’s hand slid over her thigh.

“Join us, Liam,” she whispered and her voice low and sultry. “I know you’ve thought about it…what it would be like to let go for once. To let someone else take control.”

My fists clenched at my sides and the anger twisted into something I couldn’t quite name. I was disgusted at the way Katherine was manipulating the situation, and at the way Damien sat there like he owned the place.

“I’m not like you,” I finally said. “This is what you call fun? A twisted game of control and power?” I asked and her smile faltered for the briefest moment before she recovered.

“What’s wrong with wanting to explore? We’re all adults here, Liam. Don’t tell me you’ve never wanted something more exciting than the same old routine,” she quipped and Damien chuckled.

“You should try it, man. Katherine’s quite the… entertainer,” he said and I stared at him for a long time.

“Mmmm, why not? But before that, allow me,” I said in a deceptively calm voice. Katherine’s lips curled into a slow and satisfied smile. She probably thought she had won but I added, “Before that, allow me.”

Without another word, I lunged at Damien and my fist connected with his jaw before he had time to react. The satisfying crack of my knuckles against his face reverberated in the room and the impact sent him sprawling off the couch. Katherine screamed and stumbled backward in shock as Damien groaned while clutching his face where my punch had landed.

"What the hell, Liam?" Katherine shrieked.

"You thought I’d just play along? That I’d sit here and let you both disrespect me like that? You don’t know me, Katherine. Not at all,” I told him and there was panic in her eyes.

Damien tried to push himself up, but I was quicker. I grabbed him again and pulled him up to his feet, and then, I slammed him against the wall. His eyes widened with fear and the cockiness was gone from his face as he finally understood that this wasn’t a game he could win.

"You think you can walk into my life and act like I’m just another piece in your little scheme?" I growled.  "Not today, not ever!"

"Liam, stop!" Katherine pleaded.

Damien struggled against my grip and explained, "Man, it was just a suggestion! She…she wanted it!"

"I don’t care what she wants. You should’ve known better!"I shouted at him and with one final shove, I let him go.

I watched him as he slumped to the food, defeated and humiliated but I didn’t have enough. I was fueled with anger, and I wanted to humiliate both of them! They dared to insult me? Then, they would get what they deserved!

Angrily, I kicked Damien’s balls and he crouched in pain. Katherine was confused about what to do, and I ordered her to sit down. She was so scared she immediately heed to my command and went to sit down in the nearest chair.

“What are you doing, Liam?” she asked when I retrieved my camera.

“You wanted to have fun, right? Then, let’s do it properly,” I said while setting up the video camera to capture everything that would happen inside the living room.

“N-no way,” she said as she realized what I was up to.

“You started it, Katherine,” I told her and she started crying in panic.

After all, her Dad would eventually cut her off soon.

CHAPTER 2 - The Threesome (Liam’s POV)

After tying Katherine up, there was fear all over her face. It was her first time to see me like this, and she was shocked that I had a hidden dark side. Damien was beside her, and he was also tied up. I waited until Damien woke up before proceeding to the next step.

Damien’s wrists were tightly secured to the bed frame as he lay bent over. It was horrible to look at especially when his backside was completely exposed. When he started to stir, he blinked rapidly, disoriented at first, but when his eyes finally registered the ropes binding him, his muscles tensed as he tried to break free.

“Wha–” His voice was hoarse as he tried to shift but the restraints left him helpless. His breath quickened, and for a moment, he just stared at me with wide eyes. “Untie me, *ssh*l*!” he demanded.

“Let me go, Liam!” Katherine also demanded.

“You wanted to have fun, right? Now that Damien is awake, we should start having fun,” I told him and her eyes stared at me in disb
