Chapter 1: GABRIELLA ROSSI

Vittorio Corleone is known as Vitto" The snake", a name that sent chills down the spines of even the bravest men.

He was notorious, a phantom in the dark underworld, known for his ruthless efficiency and cold-blooded demeanor. He eyed Gabriella with a predatory gaze, a cruel smile playing on his lips.

"Don't act like a victim here baby girl, what goes around comes back around !” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~

Everwood Hostel~~ GABRIELLA ROSSI☆

Gabriella sat at her desk in the cozy dorm room of one of the most popular hostels in the city. Her roommate, Annabelle , was sprawled on her bed, flipping through a fashion magazine.

Gabriella was in her second year of college, studying literature. She had a passion for reading and often found peace in the world of books.

Her father, a successful businessman, had always been supportive of her dreams and encouraged her to follow her heart.

Their bond was strong, and she cherished the moments they spent together, despite his busy schedule.

The morning sun was bright and it reflected through the window, illuminating the room.

Gabriella was lost in her thoughts, planning her next essay, when her phone rang, jolting her back to reality. She glanced at the caller ID and saw an unknown number flashing on the screen.

"Who might this be, unknown number?" she muttered to herself, furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.

Annabelle looked up from her magazine and raised an eyebrow. "You should answer it, Gabriella . Maybe it's important."

Hesitant, Gabriella picked up the phone and pressed the green button. "Hello?"

A deep, somber voice came through the line. Excuse me, ma’am,” he began softly, trying to keep his voice as gentle as possible. “Are you Gabriella ?”

Gabriella turned around , her eyes widening with a mixture of fear and uncertainty. “Yes, I am,” she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. “Is something wrong?”

“My name is Gabriella ,Yes, this is her. Who is this?" Gabriella asked, a sense of unease creeping into her voice.

There was a brief pause before the voice spoke again, laden with gravity. "Miss Gabriella ,Earlier this morning, there was an incident at your father’s home,” he continued, choosing his words carefully. “He was injured during a break-in. The paramedics arrived quickly, but unfortunately, he didn’t survive his injuries.”

Gabriella gasped, her hand flying to her mouth as tears began to spill down her cheeks. “No, no,” she whispered, shaking her head in disbelief. “This can’t be happening.”

“I’m so sorry for your loss,” The Detective said, his heart aching for her. “I understand this is incredibly difficult to process.

I regret to inform you that your father has been killed by an unknown gang." If there’s anything we can do to support you during this time, please let us know.”

Gabriella 's heart stopped. She felt as if the ground had been ripped out from beneath her. "What? No, that can't be true. Who are you? How do you know this?"

"I'm with the police, Miss Gabriella . We are still investigating the details, but I wanted to inform you personally. I'm truly sorry for your loss."

Tears welled up in Gabriella 's eyes as the reality of the situation began to best fast. She could hear the sincerity in the officer's voice, but it did little to lessen the blow.

Her mind raced, a whirlwind of emotions threatening to overwhelm her. Her father, her rock, was gone? "Thank you for letting me know," she managed to say, her voice barely a whisper. "What do I do now?"

"We'll need you to come to the station to identify some personal belongings and provide any information that might help our investigation," the officer replied gently. "Can you come down tomorrow morning?"

Gabriella nodded, though she knew the officer couldn't see her. "Yes, I'll be there." After she hung up, she sat there in stunned silence, the phone still clutched in her hand. Annabelle , sensing something was terribly wrong, moved to sit beside her.

"Gabriella , what happened?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. Gabriella looked at her friend, tears streaming down her face. "My dad... he's been killed. The police just called me. They said it was an unknown gang." Annabelle gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "Oh, Gabriella , I'm so sorry.

What can I do to help?" "I... I don't know," Gabriella said, her voice trembling. "I need to go to the police station tomorrow. They need me to identify his belongings and help with the investigation." Annabelle wrapped her arms around Gabriella , holding her tightly. "You're not alone, Gabriella .

We'll get through this together."Annabelle said to console her friend. Gabriella stood still, thinking that she was dreaming, she had thought about it being a prank but again, she recalled the message said by the person who called her . Goosebumps were all over her body, she missed her Dad's call yesterday and her plan was to call her the next day before she gets to class.

“Daddy,Daddy, is this true? She questioned herself as she watched and listened to the voicemail saying “the number she was trying to call cannot be reached .” She took the tissue, dabbing at her eyes. “I just... I don’t know what to do now,” she said, her voice breaking.

“Take your time,” Annabelle said to her gently. “It’s important to take care of yourself right now. Lean on the police for support. Always remember that I'm here for you, too.” She nodded again, clutching the tissue as if it were a lifeline. “Thank you, Annabelle.”

Gabriella still sat quietly on the edge of her bed, her mind a storm of thoughts and emotions. The room around her seemed to blur into the background as she fixated on a single point on the wall, trying to make sense of the chaos that had erupted in her life. Annabelle moved closer to her again and talked to her in soothing tones.

"Gabriella , you can't overthink this. Just breathe," Annabelle said gently, placing a reassuring hand on Gabriella 's shoulder. Annabelle's voice, usually so full of energy and laughter, was now calm and steady, a lifeline in the turmoil that Gabriella felt.

But despite Annabelle's best efforts, Gabriella 's thoughts kept circling back to the phone call she had received earlier that morning. Her father's voice had been urgent, tinged with a fear she had never heard before.

He had told her something terrible had happened, but before he could explain, the line went dead. "I don't know what I'm going to do Annabelle," Gabriella murmured, her voice barely above a whisper. "That's why you need to stay calm. We'll figure this out together. But for now, you need to pack your things and get to your dad's house. Everything else can wait," Annabelle insisted, her eyes full of concern.

Gabriella nodded slowly, the fog in her mind starting to lift slightly. She stood up and moved to her closet, methodically pulling out clothes and other essentials. Her hands shook slightly as she packed, each item a reminder of the normalcy she was leaving behind, even if only for a while.

Annabelle continued to talk, her voice a constant, comforting presence. "Remember, no matter what happens, you're not alone. I'm here for you. We'll get through this." Gabriella tried to take comfort in her friend's words, but the anxiety gnawed at her insides, making it hard to focus.

She zipped up her bag and took a deep breath, turning to face Annabelle. "Okay, I'm ready," she said, her voice trembling slightly. Annabelle stood and pulled her into a tight hug. "You've got this. Just take it one step at a time." She said that with a comforting tone to Gabriella and with that, they both walked out of the hostel.

Chapter 2: Difficult Decision

Gabriella and her friend Annabelle left the hostel to catch a cab; they walked to a junction and flagged down a taxi. The weather was unusually hot, and the sun beat down mercilessly on them.

The busy street was alive with activity, with vendors selling their wares, children playing, and pedestrians walking quickly on the pavement. Gabriella and Annabelle were so focused on the police station that they barely noticed anything else.

They hailed a small, worn-out taxi that had seen better days. The driver, an elderly man with a kind but tired expression, greeted them and asked where they were going. "The police station, please," Gabriella asked, her voice trembling slightly.

The driver nodded and drove into the chaotic traffic. After driving for 24 minutes, the driver began to accelerate, weaving through the cars with more urgency than Gabriella and Annabelle were accustomed to. "Could you please be careful?" Annabelle inquired, her voice f
