Annotation

Ryan’s first mistake was moving in with a vampire. His second was thinking he could ignore him. Thorne D’Aurelius—the Second of the Vampire Court, dangerous, unreadable, and an absolute nightmare of a roommate—never turns the music off. But when Ryan, a newly awakened omega wolf, discovers the truth, everything changes: Thorne can hear every thought he tries to hide. And with his first heat approaching, every fantasy becomes louder… every craving harder to resist. Thorne knows it. Uses it. Plays him with words sharp enough to draw blood. Enemies. Roommates. Obsessions. And no escape—because how do you run from the monster who sleeps a wall away and lives inside your head?

Claws meets fangs

Ryan’s pov

.

.

I was in my room, staring at the laptop and books piled on the bed, my head blank and my ears throbbing from the music blasting in the other room. It was unbearable. Living with a roommate was one thing; living with a roommate who was a vampire, blasting rock music 24/7 and barely coming outside? was another.

I remembered how much I had tried to make us friends. Even after knowing his identity, I still f*ck*ng tried. I even forced myself to get used to his vampire scent, but it was almost a waste of time. He was ice cold, like his skin, and barely ever showed his face, the thick hoodie covering half of it and only his lips visible. It p*ss*d me off.

I’d tried countless times to talk to him about the music and how I couldn’t study, but it was like talking to a brick wall. Minutes after any discussion, the music would blast again.

I sighed, getting down from the bed angrily. Maybe I’d tried the nice way, and now it was time to say my piece. I walked out of my room to face his, just opposite mine, and banged hard on the door. There was no response, which made me wonder if he could even hear me knocking at all.

I knocked harder before the music finally stopped. After what felt like ages, he opened the door, his hoodie pulled up to the bridge of his nose, his lips in view as he towered over me. His body was taller than the door frame; I reached just his chest.

“Look, I don’t even know what your name is, and we’ve been roommates for a month now. I’ve tried to be the bigger person, I’ve tried to cope with you, talk to you, but you still do the same thing! I’m trying to study, but how the f*ck can I study if your music is shaking up the entire house?” I said, my voice raised slightly, my breathing uneven.

“My apologies,” he said calmly, like he always did, and then went back to doing the same thing. I nodded my head in frustration.

“You can’t apologize and go back to doing the same thing! You say the same thing and then go back to doing it again! I don’t understand. It’s not like you’re a werewolf like us who can’t use headphones — you can. Just use that and listen to your music all day instead of making my head ache 24/7!”

He didn’t speak, just stayed silent, and it aggravated me.

“Wait, is this because of our species? For f*ck’s sake, grow up! The war between our kind happened years ago, let it go! How can you hate a person because of whatever beef our ancestors had hundreds of years ago?”

I waited for a response, but of course, it didn’t come. He barely f*ck*ng talked.

“Hello?” I said again, staring at him.

“I just thought you’d like your privacy.”

“What? What are you even saying?”

“If I don’t play the music, it means I can read your thoughts, be in your head, whether I want to or not.”

My eyes widened. I’d forgotten about their ability to read minds.

“I don’t like being in your head…it’s… lonely. You’re either thinking of books, the man you loved, or fantasizing about your first s*x.”

Heat crept up my cheeks in embarrassment as I quickly cleared my throat.

“That’s… uh…” I stammered.

“So you see, I’m doing you a favor,” he said calmly as I glared at him, my cheeks still hot.

“I think all the thoughts you have while you touch yourself should be yours to keep.”

My eyes widened, lips pressing together, cheeks getting hotter by the second.

“Yes, they should be mine! You shouldn’t be in my head!”

“I don’t want to, at all… that’s why I play rock to distract myself. But since you said it disturbs you, I can…”

“No! Uhh… I misunderstood, you can keep doing that,” I said in one breath, staring at him. A small smirk played on his lips, making me desperately want to see his full face.

“I cover my face for a reason.”

He was in my head again.

“Hey, get out of my—”

“I cannot help it. Your wolf minds are very open.”

I tried to block my mind immediately.

“That can only work for your kind. It doesn’t matter if you block it; I can still read it.”

I sighed, frustrated.

“We’ve been roommates for a month. I think it’s appropriate I see your face and know your name,” I said gently, trying to wash off the anger and embarrassment I felt at the same time.

“I personally do not enjoy showing my face, omega.”

I scoffed.

“My name is Ryan! And why? Are you ugly?”

“Quite the opposite.”

I rolled my eyes.

“Prove it then,” I said, smirking. He stayed still for a few seconds before slowly removing the hoodie. My breath hitched, and I took a few steps back, gasping as I stared at this… demigod.

His eyes were red, glowing faintly. His brows arched perfectly, nose sharp, cheekbones like they could cut if you lingered too long. A nose piercing, multiple piercings on his ears, an eyebrow piercing — his black hair tied up at the top, strands falling around his face. He smirked, tilting his head. I swallowed, trying to speak but stuttering.

“Vampire got your tongue?” he teased.

I blinked repeatedly before clearing my throat.

“You’re… not bad,” I said, trying to act casual but failing miserably.

“Thank you,” he said, fangs flashing slightly.

I cleared my throat again and stretched out my hand.

“Since it’s my first time seeing your face, it’s just normal we introduce ourselves. I’m Ryan, twenty-two, an omega wolf. I major in science.”

He looked at my hand for a few seconds before taking it, his hands cold.

“I’m Thorne D’Aurelius, the Second. 224 human years. I’m pursuing my seventh degree, which is law, before I lead my people.”

I stared at him with a bored expression. Vampires always did the most. I thought their long lives and unaging bodies were a gift and a curse honestly … then it hit me.

“The Second? You’re next in line to lead?”

He nodded calmly.

“Oh… uh… I’m glad we met. I’ll be going to my room now.”

He nodded.

“Do I play my music?”

I thought about it for a while.

“I’ll tell you when I’m done studying. All I’ll think of now is books for the next few hours.”

He nodded calmly again, eyes glowing.

“Why are you in your form?”

“Instincts. The last time I was this close to a wolf I was putting a silver knife up their chest,” he said, giving a small smile. I rolled my eyes.

“I’ll go now.”

He nodded. I tried to turn, but my legs felt stuck as I stared at his face again. I finally tore my eyes away and forced my legs to walk back to my room, leaning on the door.

What the f*ck was that?! Why is he so f*ck*ng…

Sh*t… he can read my thoughts. I ran to the bed, opening the laptop and trying my hardest not to think about anything but books.

Yes… what was I studying again?

.

I looked into the bathroom mirror, taking in my reflection. As an omega, puberty had come late for me—just over a year ago—but I’d loved some of the changes it brought. My body had slimmed down a bit, though my chubby cheeks and big blue eyes hadn’t changed. I’d even started to grow a tiny bit of facial hair, which I couldn’t wait to see fill in.

But those weren’t the only things puberty brought. I now had a few spots of acne scattered around my face, which didn’t really bother me. What did bother me was my mind.

Ever since puberty hit, it was like someone had swapped my brain with a stranger’s. My thoughts got wilder, and I thought about s*x twenty‑two hours a day. Soon enough, I started touching myself—and it felt good. Really good. It made me wonder what the real thing would feel like, and that thought followed me every second of the day.

I was a twenty‑two‑year‑old with the mind of a freaked‑out teenager.

I sighed, my eyes catching the red toothbrush on the counter, and he immediately came to mind. I’d tried to erase his face from my memory since evening, but it was impossible. It was like his image was glued to the inside of my head.

Sure, vampires were known for their sharp features—but did he really have to look that good? He looked like the kind of man who could ruin your life and still get a “thank you.”

I checked the time.

3:24 a.m.

The music had stopped playing about an hour ago, which probably meant he’d fallen asleep. Thank goodness. I didn’t want him listening to what I thought.

I pulled off my clothes and stepped under the warm shower, washing my body slowly. His face appeared in my mind again—his smirk, those fangs. I’d always thought vampire fangs were cool, but his had a strange sexiness to them. The way his eyes glowed red, the calm, husky edge to his voice…

I gasped, looking down to see my hand already wrapped around my shaft, stroking slowly. Pleasure tingled through my body. I tried to think of something else—someone else—the p*rn I’d watched earlier, anything. But his face was all I saw: his eyes, his nose, his lips.

My breath hitched as I went faster, gasping as small sounds escaped me. I leaned against the wall, letting out a low moan as the pleasure rolled through me—

“Aren’t you a dirty little thing?”

I shattered, releasing with so much force that I cried out, then froze. My body trembled as I blinked the blur from my vision, trying to recall what had just happened.

Did I hear his voice in my head… or did I imagine it?

I breathed heavily and turned on the shower again. “Get a grip, Ryan,” I muttered to myself, washing up quickly.

.

I rubbed my eyes, yawning as I walked into the small kitchen and poured myself some coffee.

Mom, Dad, and Arianna had begged me a hundred times to move into a bigger apartment, but I’d refused. I wanted to live the same kind of college life everyone else had—not the “rich, spoiled” kind. Just normal.

I took a sip of the sweet coffee. I wasn’t mature enough yet to drink it plain and bitter. I opened the cupboard, took out sliced bread and some eggs, and started making breakfast.

When I turned—

“Arghh!”

I screamed. Thorne was standing right behind me, hoodie pulled up to hide half his face, a straw poking through the lid of a cup in his hand.

“When the hell did you get here?!” I demanded, clutching my chest. Thank the Moon Goddess I hadn’t dropped the eggs.

“Now,” he said calmly.

I turned back to the stove, setting a frying pan on top and adding some oil. When it heated, I poured the eggs in and started seasoning them.

“I’ll make some for you,” I offered.

“No worries. I’m already eating.”

I turned to look at the cup and straw in his hand, frowning. “That’s juice, not a meal.”

“It’s blood,” he said casually. “Human blood.”

My eyes widened. “You… you—”

“Blood bank,” he interrupted. “I didn’t kill anyone, Ryan.”

I sighed in relief and turned back to finish cooking. I scrambled the eggs, plated them, and popped another two slices of bread into the toaster. When everything was ready, I grabbed some apple juice from the fridge and sat at the counter.

Thorne sat nearby, quiet, with his cup in hand.

“You obviously were hungry,” he said, his tone teasing. “Rough night?”

I looked up, nodding quickly. “I slept around four a.m.—was studying all through. How about you? When did you sleep?”

“Couldn’t,” he replied.

My eyes widened. If he hadn’t been asleep, that meant—

“Oh…” I mumbled, stuffing my mouth with bread to avoid looking at him. I dropped my plate, grabbed my bag, and bolted out of the house.

He knew everything.

He’d been in my head.

He knew I’d touched myself… thinking of him.

F*ck!

.

The club lights blurred as I downed my last two shots. I was drunk—exactly what I needed. I grabbed my bag, stumbled out, and made my way back to the apartment.

I was going to give that vampire a piece of my mind.

I slammed the door shut and marched to his room, banging on it until it opened. His hoodie was gone, his face fully visible this time, and his long hair was loose, cascading over his shoulders.

“You’re so hot,” I blurted out before I could stop myself.

He tilted his head slightly but stayed silent.

“But you know what’s not hot?” I continued, pointing at his chest. “Being in my head! I know you know what I did at 3 a.m., and I don’t… I don’t like that! You’re such a creep for even listening to it. You vampires are always creeps!”

He stared at me for a few seconds, then smirked.

“I apologize. But… you used me for your pleasure. You thought about me inappropriately. So tell me, aren’t you the creep?”

My mouth opened, but no words came out.

“So you see, wolf?” he said softly. “I’m the victim here.”

I bit my lip, caught between anger, shame, and something I didn’t want to name.

“You…” I started, but the words failed me.

He tilted his head again. “You shouldn’t be thinking about your rival species that way, omega.”

I scoffed. “It’s Ryan. R‑Y‑A‑N. Ryan!”

My voice came out louder than intended, and I turned to storm off toward my room.

“To spice up your imagination,” he said, voice low, “I don’t just have piercings on my face.”

My face flushed bright red as I slammed my door shut.

I had a year and two months left before I was done with college. Could I actually survive this? If I moved out, it’d look weak—omegas already had a reputation, and I wasn’t about to add to it.

We’d avoided each other for a month before. I could do it again… right?

Right?!

I grabbed my phone, thinking about calling the Luna, but she’d only know I was drunk and lecture me. Groaning, I buried my face in the pillows.

As I drifted to sleep, I could swear I heard a voice in my head whisper—

“Goodnight, omega.”

Author’s note:

You asked for it , and here it issss

I think I’ve rested enough, it’s time for a new book? what you say?😅

First of all love, if you’d be reading this book for the first time I’d like to let you know it’s a book made for a character I had In my previous book “The Luna’s human mate”, most of the characters mentioned in this book have appeared before on that and there might be references related to the first book so incase you don’t understand a scene, don’t worry love , you’re not confused, you just haven’t read my first book.

I’m excited to dive into this book, this would be my first MxM book and I’m scared? But mostly excited to write it because you all know Ryan is a character dear to my heart, my Apologies to him for creating him in a dark romance universe now.

love you all and happy reading ♥️

Pride and apologies

Ryan’s pov

I woke up with a stretch and a yawn, smiling lazily before sitting up with a jolt as the memories of last night flooded back.

“But... you used me for your pleasure. Thought about me inappropriately. Aren’t you the creep?”

I slapped a hand over my face. “Sh*t! What did I do?!”

I froze on the bed, staring wide‑eyed at my door.

How do I go out there?

How do I ever overcome this embarrassment?!

He knows! He freaking knows!

Tiptoeing out of bed, I slipped into the bathroom, praying that he was still asleep and not in my head again.

My reflection in the mirror greeted me with cheeks bright pink, shining like a trophy against my pale skin.

It was bad enough to have ghost‑white skin, but cheeks that blushed that easily? Unfair.

I sighed, grabbed my toothbrush, and turned on the hot water.

.

I stood by the door, hand frozen on the handle, breathing in and out. I wasn’t ready to face him.
