Chapter 1

CHAPTER ONE

The strange noise took me aback, jolting me around even while I was shut in an enclosed room. I was already falling asleep, as my eyes hid in the socket.

Guards of the Snow Crest pack, where I was made to be, were outside watching out against enemies. But suddenly, the clash of swords broke the silence and did more than attract me. My eyes which were being drawn by slumber, awaken. They became widely open.

I was attracted and affrighted, flinching repeatedly from shock. I knew those attackers had to be rogues, since I experienced an ambush they set for me before the Alpha saw me and delivered me.

Why were the rogues always after me? Was the the I'll fate the moon god had hatched me in? I was always the prey amidst predators.

Was this because I was yet to find my mate? "When we find our mate, we would be unstoppable," Daciana's words reverberated in my mind. She was my wolf. A daring and powerful she-wolf. I couldn't let her out, not yet. I had to keep the promise I made to my late mother which was to unleash my wolf when I find the right one.

Yea, you heard me right. I wasn't any kind of wolf, I was the star of the night. The moon God doesn't mate us with anyone, we are free to choose our own mate. And then he becomes mine.

All this years, I have been searching for the right man. And it seems I'm just a step to finding him.

As usual, the Gammas of the pack got off out of their shells and rushed to shut every door of the pack house.

Alpha Ethan heard about the bangs and raid of the rogues and he was disturbed. I noticed he even had to leave his mate Ava in bed to join the Gammas. I was hearing shouts right by my window side and then, a clash of swords came afterwards.

The Snow Crest pack seem to have a different way of fighting their enemies. Why use a sword? I wondered.

Suddenly, my door began to shake so badly that I got shocked and stood on my feet. I was the only one left in my room, my food stocked in an enclosed plate, my dresses hung in the wardrobe and the room properly arranged. I couldn't do anything with my belongings — they weren't able to save me, if any rogue broke in. I was naked since it was the night and I always wanted a breeze to permeate my body all through the night.

What if a rogue just broke into the room? I blinked and before I could think of what to do, I rushed to the wardrobe and got my towel, wrapped it around my body and walked into the bathroom, shutting the door behind me.

The door of the bathroom was metal while the room itself had a wooden door. I wondered why my room was built that way. I just wanted security. I was rescued to the pack house, so why would rogues attack this pack?

Were they here because of me? I thought so deeply about that but I couldn't arrive at a conclusion. My hopes began to dwindle as the noise rather increased, even Alpha Ethan's thick voice was heard right by the window, where I was, in the bathroom.

“Here, too?” I stuttered, standing aloof in the bathroom. “Is it how things go in the pack house?” I was worried, and I had to remove my towel, shut the door a second time, and enter the bathtub. As I did that, I was getting refreshed and memories were flurrying into my head, nearly making me forget about the noise outside.

Suddenly, I heard a slam on the door. I knew too well that it wasn't the bathroom door, but that of the main room so I wasn't so much bothered.

“Sydney, are you in?” Alpha Ethan shouted through the window. “Just stay right there and don't come out.”

“You mean I should…” I said, and before I could know it, he interrupted me again.

“Unless you want your blood shed across the net of your window.” Alpha Ethan added, his voice sounding thicker, a loud clash of sword following. “I might mistakenly hit you because these rogues are subtly dressed up. Stay indoors.” he commanded

“Alright.” I said, smiling as I felt happy. I was cared for like a little baby Alpha, as if I was going to be the next Luna or a side mate in Alpha Ethan's marital life. "What a shameless thought!" I snorted. I can't believe I was willing to settle for less, "side mate," I berated myself. I felt like puking.

My heart began to pound as the outside grew worse. I initially thought the wolves were performing training since that was what I met first, when I came to the Snow Crest pack. It was entirely something different now — they were fighting with unending and powerful rogues. "Sydney," I called out my name, hoping to set a reminder for myself.

I walked to the window, still undressed as my breasts kept dangling in the air, a clear sign of my fright which was choking me. I tried to stick to the doorknob and avoid any rogue from breaking the door, since I already heard the rogues were breaking in to the pack house.

“Alpha Ethan!” I heard a voice, louder than I could ever imagine. I noticed it was Ava’s voice, but it happened that she couldn’t be any close to the place. “Do something! Where is Liam and Bryce?”

“They are both here.” Alpha Ethan replied, his voice lowered as if tired. “I wish I could tune into my powers right now…” “What can't you?” Ava returned, as she joined Alpha Ethan in the field, holding a sword in her hand. “Is there a way you can accelerate everything and normalize it? We need the Moon Goddess's assistance right now.” “She isn't ready yet.” Alpha Ethan objected, humbly looking at how Ava sliced the rogues into pieces within minutes. “It is not my time, you understand?” “Just two days left.” Ava added to her words, adjusting her shirt as a rogue got close to her. “Let me kiss you before I kill you.” The rogue said, his brows furrowed at Ava. He was just very bold that he pouted his lips and made them touch Ava's.

Ava grew angry immediately and pitied herself that she didn't quickly notice him. She held out her sword, raised it up straight in the normal degree and style of sword position she usually employed, and made it go through the rogue's chest; his heart.

Seeing this scene made me grin. Realizing how I involuntarily smiled, my face darkened.

“I'd have tasted your loins…” the rogue added, concluding as blood oozed out of his mouth and he collapsed. “Die, you b*tch!” Ava scowled, as she smashed a spear on the same rogue, splattering his blood about. I could see everything through the window and whenever a rogue faced me, I was always afraid he would try to call his colleagues to break in to the house and never stop fighting.

My mind was more than bewildered when I heard a bang right on the window frame, and I saw a claw clenching at a side of the frame and I collapsed right there. This was such a scary adventure I'd met myself and it wasn't getting more amusing. It was only becoming wilder to the extent that I felt I shouldn't have been rescued and brought to ths pack house at all.

“Are you also from the Snow Crest?” The voice rang back in my ears and I remembered the rogue said something similar to that, before I fell.

But, I knew no way to respond to a rogue.

Plus, was I really going to be a part of the Snow Crest pack?

Snapping out of my thoughts I stumbled backwards, a rogue was right before my face grinning broadly. "There you are, I have found you."

My heart sank down into my stomach as I saw him tearing the net on the window.

Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO

The morning came with songs of chirping birds, as their sonorous sound got me up. I stretched my arms, yawned and turned my head to make an adjustment. It seemed the day would be much more different than it was - overwhelmed with impending and unexpected danger.

The atmosphere was so cool, but within a short while, I heard a knock on my door. Hurrying to the door, I almost slipped on the floor, but as I held onto the wall, I maintained a balance with the doorknob, holding it tightly.

Perhaps it was the Alpha, my saviour, who had come and I knew right that he hated to be delayed. Alas! It was Ava, his mate.

“Good morning.” I greeted her, feigning a kind of friendliness with her, my brows subtly furrowed at her. “Hope you are doing well, the wolves and Alpha Ethan as well?”

The event of the previous battle flashed before my eyes, I was saved by Alpha Ethan once again. Ava's face darkened, she squinted her eyes at me. I felt a sense of hatred t
