Blurb; “Why did you do it?” He demanded in a low voice, a warning while closing in on her. The defiant look on her face crumbled a little as she hastily began to backtrack, it wasn’t long before she felt the edge of the bed behind my knees. “Fucking answer me, Kiara!” He roared, cold breath fanning the tip of her nose as he spoke. She gulped in fear, as what she had done just began to fully sink in. “I- I don’t…” A firm push against her forehead tipped her over and she fell on my back like a doll, panting wide-eyed at a very furious Xavier. She scrambled backward, or attempted to– but Xavier’s large hands clamped on hwr ankles, sharply jerking me downwards until her legs dangled at his sides. “Not only did you leave the house on your own– you crashed my car, set it on fire, and then you went to a freaking, dangerous club…” He moved his hands off her ankles and circled my hips, grips tightening instantly, threateningly. “…and let worthless men touch what’s mine. Who told you that was acceptable?” “Who said I was yours? Since when did you make me yours?” Kiara asked in a breathy voice “Since right now.” ++++ Forced to marry Xavier Romano to spare her brother’s life, Kiara Francesco– sassy, rebellious, and drop-dead gorgeous, was determined to be no fragile and disobedient wife; which surprised Xavier and made his sinful hunger for her intensify with each passing second. Life as a very powerful mafia lord’s wife was no child’s play, seeing as it comes with a whole lot of danger. And Kiara was ready for the dangerous ride.
Get married
"...the two girls were later suspended," Kiara keenly listened to her younger sister, Jane, narrating the incident that happened in her school.
"Well, they got what they deserved," Kiara rolled her eyes as she affirmed. The girls that were suspended were bullies and Kiara hated them to the bones.
"That's not all, the principal also–"
"Kiara! Kiara!" The loud shout of Mr. John interrupted the little gossip between the two sisters.
Kiara and Jane both looked at each other with questionable looks on their faces wondering why their father was back so early and why he was yelling at the same time.
"What did you do again?" Jane asked knowing fully well Kiara was not one to stay out of trouble.
"Nothing," Kiara shrugged.
They didn't waste another moment when their father yelled Kiara's name again. They ran downstairs to witness their father tightly gripping the ear of their brother while raining insults on him, not to forget the few slaps he landed on his back.
"What happened?" Kiara asked once she reached. Jane also looked worried at the state her brother was in.
"What took you so long to get down?!" Mr. John asked irritatedly.
"I was -"
"I don't want to hear it," Mr. John cut Kiara short, "Go and prepare, you are going to wed the most powerful mafia lord in the next four days."
Silence ensued in the living room. Kiara couldn't believe her ears.
"What's this? Are you finally selling me off?" Kiara scoffed with disgust written all over her face.
"Think whatever you want," Mr. John sneered, "to save my company and your brother, you have to get married and that's final!" Mr. John said as he forcefully let go of Timothy's ear.
Timothy was the younger brother of Kiara and was the reason for these sudden and outrageous arrangements.
"Your stupid brother here took a loan from the world's scariest mafia lord. Even if I sold my company and all our assets, I wouldn't be able to pay back." Mr. John seethed, "It is time to make yourself useful...Get married and save the life of your brother and my company." He finalized.
Kiara was dumbfounded. She realized the predicament her family was in but for them to sell her off to a man with the worst reputation ever all because of something she does not know of. It was just unacceptable.
"I'll never be a sacrificial lamb for this family," Kiara said adamantly.
It would have been a different story if she had a good relationship with her family, but after her parents ignored her and treated her like shit, they now want her to help salvage them from this situation?
"Repeat what you just said?" Mr. John said as he walked closer to Kiara.
Jane held Kiara's hand to restrain her from going against their father, but Kiara wouldn't back down.
She knew she'd probably get hit, but she just couldn't accept getting married at such a young age when she hadn't achieved anything except a high school certificate to her name.
"I. Am. Not. Getting. Married," Kiara enunciated and the next thing that followed was a resounding slap from her father.
"It's either you get married or I'll offer him Jane instead," Mr. John threatened and walked away in anger.
Kiara looked at her younger sister who froze wide-eyed at their father's threat. Jane was just 15. Kiara couldn't possibly let that happen.
She looked at her mother, Susan, who had a passive expression on her face as if none of this was of any concern to her.
"Are you really going to keep mute mum?" Kiara painfully asked. Her mother has always been like this. Distant and never cared to involve herself in the lives of her children even when her husband severely hurt them in the name of discipline.
Susan looked at her daughter glaring at her and then looked away.
"Don't look at me like that," Susana started calmly, "If not for you, I wouldn't have gotten married to your father, and lived this miserable life I am living. Every time I see you, I remember the day your father took advantage of me and got me pregnant."
"Maybe it's your karma. I got forced to marry your dad because you, it's only right you get forced into marriage as well. Only that in your case, I hope you won't be as miserable as me." After saying what she had to, Susan left.
The three siblings were too stunned to speak after the revelation. Kiara glared at her brother one more time before she ran to her room in tears. Jane wanted to run after her, but she thought it would be better to give her sister some space.
Kiara locked the door to her room and buried her face in her pillow as she sobbed silently. Too many things happened in one day, and it was all too much for her to bear.
It took a while for her to calm down and recollect her thoughts. She took her phone and dialed her best friend's number. It was the best place she could think of to find solace.
Her best friend, Caroline, has always been with her throughout her worst times, and as much as she didn't want to burden her with her problems, she just didn't know who else she could confine herself in.
Her parents made sure she and her siblings were strictly monitored due to the number of enemies they had. This made it almost impossible for her to form bonds and only the heavens knew how Caroline became such close friends.
Thankfully, Caroline was less busy and picked up the phone at the first ring.
"Hey...What's wrong?" Worried, Caroline asked when she heard Kiara's little sob.
"Caroline..." Kiara sobbed louder when she heard the worried voice of her best friend.
"Yes, yes, I'm here. Did your dad hit you again?"
"No, not that. I'm getting..." Kiara paused unable to utter those words.
"Talk to me already! Do you want me to come over?" Caroline demanded as she was getting worried each time Kiara stalled.
Kiara finally composed, "I'm getting married," she said.
"What? Why? To whom?" Caroline was appalled.
"My dad didn't say who. From what I know, he is the scariest and most powerful mafia lord in the world. I'm scared Caroline," Kiara said sadly.
"Calm down, Kiara. If it's who I'm thinking, I don't think it would be so bad..." Caroline giggled as the picture of the hottest mafia lord popped into her head.
"Snap out of it Caroline! This is going to change my whole life forever, and I would never agree to this!"
"Ok, ok," Caroline said seriously, "What if you run away?"
Escape plan
"You could stay at my place for a few days and once you've sorted your funds out, you move to another city, how do you see that?"
Kiara was considering what Caroline said. "How am I going to escape? My dad has his men watching me and now that I'm about to get married, I'm sure he has tightened the security around me."
Caroline thought about it before saying, "Don't worry about that. We'll figure it out but for now, just be a good girl and get some sleep. Don't try to go against your father also." Caroline warned.
"Thank you so much, Car. You are the best," Kiara muttered sincerely.
"I know," Caroline giggled, easing the atmosphere.
Kiara felt relieved after the call with Caroline. Crying for so long made her eyes heavy and in no time she was fast asleep.
"Hey, Kiara...wake up,&
