Chapter 1

Walking slowly, but trying not to fall. His hands sunk in the pockets of his white knitted jacket; clumsy steps. He entered a clean and elegant doorway and slowly climbed the mInstead, she was watching TV on the couch.

“Mom, how strange to see you so quiet!”

“Hi, sweetie," she said and reached out to grab Emma.

“I'll take a bath," I said but stopped myself, "Are you okay?

“Yes, honey, go and take a bath. I nodded, although not very convinced. It was rare to see my mother calm. So I decided to ignore her, and just take a bath.

When we got to our room, I was relieved. We had walked too far at the convention. I had had a good time, there was no denying that.

But my head was spinning, thinking that my ex was going to be a father to someone other than me.

It filled me with an unfamiliar feeling. I was quite upset with myself.

I didn't understand why I felt this way. However, in spite of everything I tried not to feel sad. The water fell down my body, caressed it gracefully and slowly.

My hands, fell alone sliding down my legs, the soap helped me to caress myself; that's what I did, my fingers went to my button, little by little I caressed gently and in circles.

I leaned my forehead against the cold wall, water running down my back. I bit my lips, the sensation was exquisite.

I did it a couple more times, my fingers, went nimbly to my lower cavity. First one finger, then two, then three. I self”penetrated slowly and then quickly.

I moaned again and again, trying not to make any noise in case my mother entered.

When I was done I felt satisfied. At least I had released everything in one orgasm. Although the image of Edward, and his eyes had invaded me at the last.

Why... I didn't know. But... I'd rather not find out.

When I came down my mother was in the same position. I decided to join her, sat down next to her.

“Let's watch the movie, Mom.”

“Thank you, honey, for your company.”

And together we watched an old novel, with a lot of drama. I looked at her sideways, and took her hand.

“I'll make some tea," I suggested and she nodded.

The next day, I was in the office. I hadn't run into Eduardo that night or in the morning.

I couldn't figure out if he was partly mad at me, or if I was too focused on the idea that I was going to be a father. A few minutes after I arrived, he came in with his wheelchair, greeting everyone but me.

“H... “I couldn't finish the sentence, he had already turned around.

Maybe the words I had said to him had affected him in some way.

But it shouldn't have. In the first place:

The one who had left me had been him. I would have continued the relationship for the rest of my life. I loved him, he was very important to me. And on top of that I was pregnant by him. He never knew about it. Not even now that we are living together. I was tired, I hadn't been able to sleep. I had not been able to sleep well with Emma. I had cried all night, despite breastfeeding her, she was still restless. She didn't have a fever or anything, I think she was getting some molars. And that had her pretty fussy.

My dark circles under my eyes kept me company on the drive to work.

“You look like a raccoon," Melissa commented, agreeing with me.

“Hi Melissa, thanks I love you too.”

“You didn't sleep at all, did you?”

“No, Emma was crying and I think it was because of her molars.”

“I'm sorry, it must be hard to be a mother.”

“It is, and no one tells you that. And even more so when you're alone and no one takes care of you.”

“That's because you did it that way," Melisa scolded me and I rolled my eyes.

Sometimes I regretted not telling Eduardo the truth.

It was something that was always going around in my mind. Besides, that girl had told him.

And I, I couldn't. Not after he told me he didn't love me anymore, I didn't want his pity.

I didn't want his pity. So I decided to ask my mother for help, get a part”time job, and try to make progress on my own. I hadn't been doing well, that much was certain.

Melissa was nagging me and she was right. It was not a responsibility... Only mine, but also Eduardo's.

“I told you, even if you had separated, he should have taken over the paternity.

“Say it... more quietly," I scolded her.

She rolled her eyes and kept talking as if it were nothing.

“You could have stayed separated from him, but....”

“I know, Melisa, and I regret it because it cost me too much to be a single mother.

“You see I'm right! “she said and stuck her tongue out at me.

I roll my eyes, standing up because I had to keep working. But even though he knocked on the door, I can only hear laughter from the other side.

“Come in! “they shouted and I entered.”

I had some new numbers that I had calculated with a blue folder. There was the same girl as last time, with her belly sticking out and her blonde hair reaching her waist. She was beautiful, surely her son would turn out just as beautiful.

“This is Daiana," Eduardo commented, introducing her to me.

“Hi, nice to meet you," I said and so did she.

“Then call me for the next ultrasound," said Eduardo and she nodded, waving to him.

She left the office, I thanked her. The guilt, of not having told him the truth about Emma how it invaded me every time I looked at that girl point and now, he would be a father again.

I'm sorry, I'm just really excited about being a dad.

Hearing his words, she raises a confused eyebrow.

“It's okay, it's really your problem," I said curtly.

“Are you okay? “he asked.

“Yes, it's just that I prefer not to have an opinion.”

“Well, have your say, I won't kick you out for that," he said amused.

“How do you know if he's really your son? What if you're just hoping for nothing? Maybe that woman is lying.”

“You're right as that's why we'll give a blood test, but that will be when the baby is born I don't want to hurt it. She told me she was sure it was mine. But I can go with her to the ultrasounds anyway, I don't want to stop doing something because of doubts. If it is not my son... Nothing, it will be my fake nephew," he said amused.

“You always take everything so lightly.”

I can't understand you sometimes," I rolled my eyes at him.

“At least he told me the truth, if I hadn't known about him and he really was my son, I would have missed all these moments. That I think would be worse... at least she was honest.”

“I guess so," I said a little uncomfortably.

Remembering that I always went alone to every single ultrasound, the first time Emma was born, I didn't have a man by my side. Those thoughts were going around in my head. But I shook it, trying to clear them.

“Are you remembering anything about Emma? “she asked.

“Maybe. By the way, I brought you these documents with quite a few irregular numbers on them.”

“That's fine, thank you.”

“It's just that Eduardo... I feel that what if he's lying to you and...?

“You say that to protect me, but I can take care of myself.”

“Eduardo, but...”

“Don't worry, I'll figure out how to fix this. You just take care of Emma, make sure she's okay.”

“I take care of Emma. “Are you saying I don't take care of my daughter?

“No... I didn't say that at all.”

“All right, I'll go," I said and turned away a little annoyed.

He wanted to move from the wheelchair to the swivel chair.

“Can you help me?”

I turned around, I knew he could do it without difficulty. But this time, the chair had turned a little. He was at an odd angle with half of his body on the floor.

I left the folder on the desk. I ran to meet him, and helped him by pushing him with all my might.

When he was finally sitting upright, I just stared at him. His blue eyes, looking at me expectantly, those lips were half”open.

<<He's... beautiful...>>

I had forgotten how handsome he was up close; the beautiful features of his face and how much my heart was pounding with his closeness.

He, removes a lock that was over my face and left it behind my ear. I bite my lips, feeling confused.

Does he want to kiss me...? Do I want the same?

“Ring!”

A call from my phone, however, interrupts us. The phone rings, interrupting us. I think I was imagining things that were not.

rble steps until he reached a mahogany door. He inserted the key in the lock and the door slowly gave way.

“My love, I have dinner ready," the woman commented as she hopped over to her beloved husband; she looked around complacently. Then she added next: “ I have prepared something you will like.

He himself, unlike on previous occasions, did not flinch at her presence. Instead, he just stared at the computer, not paying any attention to her. She raised a confused eyebrow; waiting for a reaction from her husband. Which there was none.

“Are you listening, love?” he insisted again. Her pulse quickened, she could see his restless shadow out of the corner of her eye. There were few occasions when she found herself with such nerves.

This time, the man lifted his chin so he could hear her; she smiled. Hastily, she sat down in the available chair in front of the desk.

“Yes, tell me," she murmured, trying not to pay too much attention to him.

“I wanted to tell you that I love you," she said out of the blue. Eduardo nodded.

“It's all right.”

“Is something wrong with you?” He asked suddenly, "You always say "ditto" to me.

“I want to talk to you, Brianna.”

Brianna's smile. It faded.

“I have something to tell you, too," she commented with a beaming smile, regaining her composure.

“First, listen to me....”

Brianna let her body fall back, not understanding what he wanted to tell her.

“Love! Okay, I'm listening.”

“I... I don't want to be with you.”

“What?” She asked, thinking she had misheard him.

“That's why; you don't listen to me and besides: I'm bored with you.”

As she said those words, Briana's eyes popped out of their sockets. She could not understand what was happening to her husband?

“Why do you say that, I can't understand.”

“Simple," she said, lowering her eyes. "You are... one of the people I love the least in my life....”

“What? I don't understand what you mean.”

“As I told you before... And apparently you don't listen, I'm bored with you," he spoke in a deep voice, "I'm not interested in being with a spoiled girl like you. It's been three years of our marriage, now I want you out of my life. So I'm going to ask you a favor, as soon as you walk out of that door go and collect all your belongings. Besides, you're rich, you don't need me," she said that, and turned around to continue working.

I thought, "Surely this is a joke..."

Briana's eyes opened wide, she swallowed saliva dryly, lowering her eyes and feeling at that instant very lost for the first time in her life.

“Please, I don't understand what you're trying to tell me.”

“I don't want a marriage with you anymore, I want to separate, and never see you again," she repeated.

“Are you... Are you joking with me, love? I'm sure it's a joke. We are fine,”

we have never argued and we have always...

“I don't love you anymore. In fact, that feeling never came to me. It was always a lie, and the truth is that I want to be single again. I'm bored, you weren't even good in the ca...

“Shut up, you're lying! “She interrupted him, "Tell me the real reason why you're leaving me," he said with tears in his eyes, getting up from his seat.

“I don't love you anymore, I never loved you. So please go away. Do you want to keep asking me why I left you, I can list the reasons, but not for now. It bores me to be with you. Soon my assistant will come in, who will entertain me.”

“You're so cynical, are you really telling me that you're sleeping with your assistant?”

“No, dear, not yet. But what I want to do once I walk out of this door. She's really going to entertain me from you.”

Chapter 2

Saying those words, Brianna finally stood up. She turned around, her back to her soon”to”be ex”husband.

“What did you want to tell me?” He repeated, his wife slammed on the brakes.

“Nothing "love," she said, emphasizing the word love, and he simply let her go with a laugh, breaking Briana's heart a little more.

As soon as she left for the office, her heart beat in a hurry, unable to understand why her husband had left her out of the blue.

Worst of all, the news she couldn't tell him. She drops her body in the doorway, the floor shifts beneath her feet. She closes her eyes, not knowing what to do.

Two years later, Briana is at work. Suddenly, she enters her small cubicle, suggestive.

“Did you finish what I asked you to do? You're so slow, Briana. I have every desire to throw you out, but there you are," she said and rolled her eyes, leaning her body against the durlock wall,” so please hurry to the office, the new boss
