Chapter 1: Ambush
I woke up excited as hell to meet my Dad. It's been months since I've seen him. My mum died a few years after I was born. It's just been me and my Dad ever since. It's my twenty-second birthday, and my Dad has asked me to come home. I know he has a big surprise for me, and whatever it is, I know I'm excited.
My bags are already packed. I know I'm ready to fly now. There's a private jet already at the airport waiting for me. Of course, I own a private jet. My Dad is the mafia lord of one of the wealthiest and most fearful clans in the whole United States, "Gang Cartels."
Life is perfect; I have everything I've ever wanted. Anyone I wanted, I had. No one ever tried to step on my toes cause they knew I was very precious and priceless cause I happened to be the only daughter and child of the mafia lord.
I had to board this jet immediately, do not want to keep Daddy waiting.
A few minutes later, we arrived in New York. New York City is where I was born and raised, so this place is my home. Plus, the clan liked holding meetings and other gatherings here most of the time.
I walked out of the airport. There already was a convoy and a bunch of security waiting for me. At first glance, I thought my Dad was with them. But to be honest, Daddy has never picked me up from the airport.
I exchanged greetings with my supposed driver as I got into the car, and we drove off.
"Are we going straight home?" I asked.
"Yes, miss, we are. Is there any problem?" The driver asked.
"It's not a big deal, but I was hoping we could make a few stops before we get home," I replied.
"I'm deeply sorry miss. But that won't be possible. Your father instructed me and the others behind that we should bring you home. I can't turn the car around miss, Please forgive me," The driver said.
I did want to get some things on my way back home. Due to not being able to get anything before I boarded the plane. I knew deep down that it would be impossible to convince the driver.
"Okay, fine. Let's go home, I guess," I just shrugged.
We arrived at my home, and it was as beautiful as always. I was so excited about what surprise my Dad had installed for me, but I was also excited to see him again.
My luggage was brought to my room while I went to look for my Dad. We had a greenhouse in the backyard. It was the one place I and my Dad would sit in silence to mourn my mum. Dad always said the greenhouse was Mum's favorite place in the entire world, and she would bring me here when I was a child and speak about all the plants in it.
I got to the greenhouse, and just as I expected, Dad was there. Alone by himself in silence. I walked up to him and sat beside him. After a while, he grabbed my hand, and we left the greenhouse.
"Onika. My darling, look how big you've grown," He said as he smiled and hugged me.
"Oh, Daddy stop!! Of course, I am not a baby anymore, I am twenty-two," I said as I managed to slip myself out of his grasp.
"Well, Miss Onika, do you mind accompanying this old man on a ride?" He asked.
"Is it the surprise? Please, Daddy, I've been dying for the past hour trying to control my excitement over your invitation. I know that any time you ask for me, it involves something huge. So Dad, what is the surprise?"
"Onika, just answer my question. Do you mind accompanying me on a ride?" He asked with his hand stretched out towards me.
"Of course, I certainly don't mind, sir," I answered as I grabbed his hands.
We walked out to the front yard, and a car was already parked and ready for us. I didn't know what to expect from him because I wasn't a little girl anymore, and he had given me everything possible that I had always wanted and needed, so the thoughts about what he had installed for me troubled me a lot.
We got into the car, and as I expected, everything was planned. He didn't even have to speak to the driver of our destination. The driver already knew and was taking us there.
We got to the road, not paying attention to what was going on or where exactly we were going. The driver had taken a turn, and now we were going to a different place that felt distant from the city. We didn't have any security with us cause Dad wanted us to have alone time together, but now it seems like we were being kidnapped.
"What's going on here? where are you taking us?" Dad asked.
"What's going on? Dad?" I asked as I was starting to get worried.
"Will you speak to me when I'm asking you a question?" Dad said aggressively.
"I am deeply sorry, boss, but I have no choice," The driver replied as he kept on driving.
We got to a deserted road. It seemed like the road was closed off. But there were some cars already packed in front. Some men were standing in front of these cars, all dressed in suits like they were waiting for us.
We got close to them, and the car came to a stop. The driver came out and opened the car door. He forcefully took our phones from us and directed us to leave the vehicle.
"Dad, is this the surprise? I am, if not scared," I whispered.
"Stay close to me honey. This isn't what I had planned for you," Dad said as he pulled me closer to him.
There was someone still in one of the cars. But I couldn't make off his face. He requested someone to bring my Dad, and that was when I and my Dad got separated. I was allowed to leave the area. To which I refused.
The driver comes to pull me into the car, and that's when I hear a gunshot. The driver left me and got into one of the other cars, and they all drove off, leaving my Dad on the roadside.
I rushed to my Dad and hurried to get my phone to call for assistance from the gang. A few minutes later, some cars arrived to pick me and my Dad up. My Dad was rushed to the hospital while I was taken home.
This was the first time in my life to witnessed someone being shot. It completely took the joy from me, and I was quiet and refused to speak.
Chapter 2: Discovery
News from the hospital arrives back home, and my Dad has been confirmed dead. I wasn't able to follow him to the hospital because the guys thought I would be safe at home.
I was in complete shock after I learned about my Dad's death. I remained in my room, shut off from the rest of the house, and stayed there in silence.
I was so heartbroken at the news but for some reason, I couldn't shed a tear. I was filled with anger. Everyone in the house tried to make me talk about what had happened. They all asked about the driver and what we were doing on the closed road.
I remained in my room for days without food or water, I had refused to eat. Some of my Dad's close friends and associates decide we have to bury him and plan a funeral. On the day we were supposed to bury my Dad, I decided to come out of my room, I looked so rough, I wasn't sleeping nor was I eating.
I still refused to speak to anyone. After the funeral, I went to my Dad's
