Chapter 1

“No one wants you! You will never be fit to be any one’s mate” Ashley screamed at me “ you are weak and pathetic”

I am done.

I am so done with this mask of a life that I have been chasing down a rabbit hole for longer than my brain would like to remember. I am done holding onto my little hope that my mate will be in my pack and they will accept me for who I am.

It's over. It's done, and I am never going back to that place again .

I looked back into the rearview window, it's just me on the road. Me and this beat up Toyota that I bought by working in the packs Diner for some months.

The day I decided to leave my town was the day I started living again, and now on this open road when I was supposed to feel free, I still felt caged. Every body regarded me like some sort of plague because I had no mate at my age.

I was the unchosen one.

My parents and I lived in Malibu. The home of blondes, fake boobs, fake tans, ridiculously large houses, and pack gala  perfect lives but deep hatred within.

I had looked at a map for days, the map that will lead me to my cousins pack where I will start my life from scratch.

I considered every scenario and my chances of getting there. Too many were tempting, yet all had problems.

So I just drove.

I had been driving, for two days now, only sleeping for around an hour at a rest stop along the way. I had been on I-5 for what seemed like forever now, I had decided to go to Gwen’s  pack.

I knew just my cousin in Blue Moon pack no one else. Absolutely no one. It was perfect. I could disappear in a little cabin somewhere in the woods. I could grow a garden, a big garden like my mother used to have before she got sick. I could get a job, I could work at a small town store, or I could do whatever the hell I wanted without fear of the constant judging eyes.

I only stopped for the necessities. Before I crossed the border, I spotted a convenience store .

Using a paper map and going on an adventure of my own.

It was a long drive. Too long.

I had too much time to think on my own. To allow my mind to marinade on the many things that had transpired in my life. God how I screwed up. I should have put in more effort in finding a mate, I should have never been so carefree about the whole thing.

But I didn't.

Sighing, I looked back at my map, I was close to my cousins pack and a wave of relief flushed through me.

My stomach still grumbled, though. The protein bars did nothing for my belly that had been living off them for the last few days. That and I was tired. Well, exhausted to be exact. The lack of sleep and actual food was starting to wear on me.

My stomach rumbled and twisted. I sighed again and drummed my fingers on the wheel while popping another gummy bear into my mouth.

I found the clearing and drove into a path in the forest that was easy to navigate only for those who were familiar with the way and has wolf instincts . The deeper i  got into the forest, the calmer my wolf became. The scenery was different, but similar to what I knew. Around ten minutes after, we passed a sign that read in big bold letters:

Private Property. Do Not Pass. Will Be Shot on Sight.

A wolf dashed out of the bush and walked towards my window, I took that as my cue to roll down the window.

“Name and park” he said in a monotone voice

"Vivian Grey, born on the Blue moon soil and still a member.

“Permission was given for a visit related to family affairs.” As professionally as I could, I said, "Documents checked." My heart was beating fast in my chest, and my hands were shaking a little. Even though I had done this before, it still made me a little nervous.

"Papers, mark, and ID."

Nodding, I took my papers out from my bag, fished for my wallet, and took out my ID. I gave them to him. He read them over and then looked back and forth between the ID and me as if I had changed in

the last two years I took it. He handed them back to me. I still had brown eyes with a bit of baby fat on me and brown hair cut to the shoulders.

"Mark?" he asked. I reached for the zipper of my hood, and unzipped it, pulling the left collar of my shirt down to show my mark. My pack's mark was just like the others: three slashes of claws but a line going through the middle of it, and two perfect circles underneath. I pulled my collar back up, but left the hood unzipped.

His expression turned blank for a moment and then he nodded at the guy in front, giving me the clear.

I drove a bit through the forest until I saw the pack house.

Lily began to move forward towards me as soon as she saw my car.  Lily was right about what she told me over the phone . The security was undeniably tedious.

While most believed that werewolves guarded pack land in wolf form, they only do that inside the gate's perimeter. A pack's main concern was being seen by humans, thus, armed werewolves in human form.

"Okay, now we can start the fun!" Lily exclaimed, running towards me as I stepped out of the car.

"Can I shower, and . she rolled her eyes, hugging me tightly.

“ I don't know, maybe.

“eat?" I asked her in an over exasperated tone, and

"Okay, okay. I'll go feed you before you call your mom and tell her I have not been taking care of you for the first few hours. She'd skin me alive," she said jokingly, I think.

we walked up to her house and she got me settled in, I took a much-needed shower and felt the results immediately.

After a quick chatting and catching up with Gwen, I went to bed so exhausted. The words of my tormentor ringing in my head.

But I didn't get to rest for long because all of a sudden there was a loud screaming sound that woke me up. After a few seconds, there was yelling.

Gwen ran into my room pale and breathing. One side of her brown hair was frizzy, and her eyes were big and wild with fear and rush. I jumped out of bed and went to her. When I got closer, she jumped forward and grabbed my shoulders, as if she were going to say something. At the same time, a loud voice from a speaker could be heard.

“Code Red: All women and children, make your way to the safe bunker. We are under attack. I repeat, go to the bunker. We are under attack.”

It took us a while to realize what was said.

“We have to go now!” she said.

Gwen and I ran towards the clearing with other packs members meeting the ongoing fight.

I glanced behind me to see a giant reddish-looking wolf tackle her, but then the large green-eyed man ran at me at breakneck speed, closing in on me. His black boots seemed to hover. As I ran faster, my steps wobbled. Why do you screw up when you need something? If werewolves were graceful, where was it?

I was tackled from behind before reaching the forest boundary. He grabbed my body and I felt an electric shock. He grunted before we flipped mid-fall and landed with me on top.

Straddling him, I strained to escape his clutches. I was not bruised by his enormous hands chain-crushing my wrists. I was terrified this brute would seize me.

Let me go! Let me go!” I shouted and clawed his hands but failed. He stopped me from reaching for his expressionless face. Though my muscles were fatigued and my body was weakening, I huffed and kept going.

I leaned forward to bite his face. My wolf was growling in my head, yet I felt something familiar in my chest that I couldn't explain. I stood up in front of the dark-haired man with his hands still holding me like a prisoner. He crossed my arms to avoid more attacks, but I kicked him. He disregarded it and blocked me from kicking his “friend” down there.

He grasped both my hands and reached for my chin. I leaned back, pulling my arms. He would snap my neck! I worked harder in fear.

I violently turned my head, but he caught me by the chin and tilted my head to meet his happy countenance before it blanked. He must have mind linked with whomever b*st*rd was behind this since his glazed eyes were on me. I used all my energy to escape, but just as my chance came, his green eyes flickered to black, then silver, and then blue, freezing me in place.

I used all of my energy to break free, but just as my chance came, his green eyes flickered to black, then to silver until it slowly transformed into a mesmerizing shade of blue that had me frozen in my spot.

Everything faded at that moment except those vivid, hypnotizing blue eyes. Something seemed to change in that instant, pulling me from deep within—a force stronger than will, stronger than life, searching for the missing link.

My wolf purred and went weak at his touch. His blue eyes blinked at me as if taking me in, before he nodded once at me. His blue eyes flickered back to black, then to a cat-like green as if the spell was broken.

It seemed like the man was regaining some sort of control over himself with his grasp still on me. I freed myself from his hold, and turned away running for my life.

“Release all other she-wolves! Mission complete. The E-25 has been found,” he yelled.

“We found our little Luna”

Chapter 2

When I woke up, my neck hurt so much, yet I felt better being covered by something heavy. It gave off a lot of heat like a fire, but I'd willingly burn myself in it for the comfort.

Strange. Whatever type of fire it was, it did not harm me. Instead, it encircled me like a coat of skin, keeping me warm and making me feel fuzzy on the inside as my heart beat slowly and steadily. I could feel it all over my body, including my face. I felt a shiver as a trail of heat moved slowly from the corner of my right eye to the corner of my lips. Wait, what? My eyebrows furrowed. Whatever pattern it was forming appeared familiar, but stronger this time. Then I remembered everything that happened before my accidental sleep attack. The visit, Lily, the pack, the green-eyed abductor, and finally darkness.

I popped my eyes open. The first thing I saw was the man's blue eyes meeting mine as his body hovered above mine.He was so close to my body and it enabled me to see him well.
