Being a hybrid—both werewolf and vampire—is already a curse, but when he learns he must kill his first and only love, Blair Whitmore, to survive, the horror feels to cruel to be real. His father, Damon insists that only by making Blair fall in love with him and then taking her life can Kael harness her powerful spirit and become invisible. But as Kael grows closer to Blair, genuine feelings develop, and his mission becomes an unbearable burden. In a world where love is intertwined with betrayal and survival demands the ultimate sacrifice, Kael must decide to if he can defy his face or succumb to the darkness within.

Chapter 1

Blair’s Pov

“Blair! Over here!” Lily's voice cuts through the loud music as she swings her hand in the air. I smile pushing my way through the drunk crowd that surrounds me, everyone was so immersed in the music and alcohol they didn’t seem to notice me trying to make sure I wasn’t stamped to death.

“You made it!” she exclaimed as she pulled me into a hug. “Thought you were gonna bail on me. Again.”

I chuckled. “I promised, didn’t I?” once we pull away, I take a good look at her, she was dazzling, her blond hair streaked with playful pink highlights packed in a half bun, the strapless make-me-sin red dress she was wearing hugged her curves perfectly.

She looks at my dress and scowls “Blair, you’re wearing a high neck dress, again.”

I brush the neck of my dress and smile nervously. “You know why, plus this is comfy.”

I can tell she’s about to nag me but a hand cups her waist from behind and she looks up at the guy behind her.

Her lips widen in a smile “Rico, baby” he returns the smile as he lowers his head to kiss her and I look away folding my lips awkwardly.

”Hey” Rico turns to me when they break apart.

I wave slightly. Rico was good looking I’ll admit it. Typical hot, tousled blonde hair, green eyes, kindda guy but he was weird, not in a bad way of course but he wasn’t my type of person, the type I’ll hang out with plus there’s this suspicious aura around him, though it maybe just that normal ‘don’t trust my bestie’s boyfriend’ feeling. But unlike me Lily was and is crazy about this guy. They’ve been dating for three going to four years now and they’re going strong.

Lily gasps my hand. “I'm gonna head up with him, you’re gonna be okay right?” she asks and I smile.

Of course, I'm not okay with it, for Lord knows how long I'm going to be surrounded by a bunch of people I don’t know, standing all alone because I will NOT mingle but whatever who am I to hinder her lovely romance plus this dude is not going to take no for an answer.

“I'm fine Lils” I chuckle despite everything going on in my mind. She lets go of my hand with a nod and thankful smile.

“Kay, I’ll see you later” I nod as Rico takes her hand, leading her upstairs and with that they blend in with the crowd, disappearing from my sight.

I sigh taking a look around me, the music still cranked up to the highest volume causing the walls and ground to feel as though they’re vibrating with the heavy bass, I scrunch my nose in distaste, the smell of sweat mixed with alcohol permeates the air. I groan, wishing I never came here in the first place. I’d rather be with my brushes, paint and canvas or at least be curled up reading a novel with a more soothing and peaceful music playing in the background but here I am standing all alone both hands clutching my red cup still full with alcohol my ears feeling as though they are about to bleed.

I take another look around and my eyes land on the group gathered together. I step a bit closer but not too close. They’re playing beer pong. A girl in a pink crop top and denim shorts picks up the ball and sucks it causing me to cringe as she makes her shot. She misses. With a scowl I look away from the embarrassing sight my gaze wandering until it lands on him.

He’s sitting in front of the bar, both arms and legs crossed. He turns his head slightly and I quickly avert my gaze for a moment before daring to back at him. Now, I can clearly see his face. His shoulder- length jet- black hair is tied back, in a half man bun, framing his chiseled features, his half are half s*ck*d in, drawing attention to his defined jawline, skin pale yet seem ethereal contrasting with his black, dangerous eyes that rove the room before they…land on me. He uncrosses his arms and legs positioning himself to my direction as he rests his head on his palm and for a moment time seems to stop and the crowd fades leaving just the two of us.

Everything about him is captivating and the way he’s staring at me is enchanting, despite the fact that his expression is unreadable but firm, I can’t look away, but then it dawns on me that I probably look like a creep publicly drooling over this guy.

This guy.

Memories from high school floods through my mind.

We were standing beside his locker but it’s not just us the whole school is around us. He’s eyes focused on me, meanwhile I could barely lift my head

“Kael…I…I…. have…”

“No!” I blurt out loudly turning away. I promised myself I would forget such embarrassing moments and I will. I gulp down the drink in my hand, can’t help but make a face as the liquid burn my throat as it goes down. I want, no, need more of this but there is no way I am going to that bar. I look around and luckily I see a bunch of people in the kitchen.

Kael’s POV

This party is hell. I came here to get my mind of sh*t but this was shittier. With a sigh, I sip the beer in my hand, as a brunette walks up to me swinging her hips.

She sits down beside me, facing her body to me. I groan internally, normally I would have been interested but tonight every single thing seems irritating.

“Hi” she says flipping her curls. When I don’t respond she drops her right leg that was previously placed on the left, opening her legs wider slightly, my eyes drop down to them and I scowl before looking away, taking another sip of my beer.

“Can you buy me a…” she begins batting her eyes flirtatiously but I cut her off, getting laid was the last thing on my mind.

“Get lost.” she stares at me dumbfounded “Now!” Clearing her throat embarrassed, she stands up and leaves. I sigh taking in her retreating figure, she was like the sixth girl I was sending away tonight. The way I feel is similar to that feeling of being hungry or rather starving yet having no will to eat.

I’m about to sip my drink again but a hand reaches out from nowhere grabbing it. I turn my head around and see the girl I was watching earlier she gulps it down and I scoff surprised.

You…

She places her hands on her hips after handing the glass to the bartender and I take a look at her. Her ginger shoulder length hair bounces lightly with each unsteady step, the soft waves catching the dim light. Her ice- cold yet warm blue eyes stare into mine mirroring the gaze from earlier causing me to feel the sensation from that moment. Despite being fully covered in a long-sleeve, knee-length dress, her figure is still strikingly evident. My eyes travel down to her chest noting its moderate yet admirable size but it’s her perfectly curved hips that draw my attention. Even though I'm sitting she still isn’t up to my height.

“Kael” she blurts, her index finger pointed to me, one hand still on her waist.

“And you are?”

“I...” she staggers and I reach out for her making her stand in place.

“Blairrrrrr, I am Blairrrrrr” I let out a small chuckle her face is red and her eyes lack focus yet she looked…

Nope…not her.

“Come with me” she suddenly blurts again.

“Why would I?” I ask, raising an eyebrow

She pouts her lips “I said come with me!!” she screams and a few head turns towards our direction.

Caught off guard I get up quickly. “Okay, okay just quiet down” I let her take my wrist, lead me through the house, up the stairs and into a room.

Immediately we shut the door she pushes me onto the bed climbing onto my laps.

“This is moving fast.” I say shocked.

“I’m going to ruin you.” she whispered leaning closer.

I chuckle, fascinated by the confidence alcohol is giving her “On what grounds?”

She looks around pondering before turning back to me “You are mine.” she declares despite her drunken state.

“Cute but darling I am nobody’s” I respond though I can hear my voice waver slightly.

What is wrong with me?

“Sshh” she pauses as she stares into my eyes and I s*ck in my lips.

Lord the effect she was having on me.

She brings her head closer, wrapping her hands around my neck, I hesitate for a moment but then lean in, closing the gap between us.

She tastes like alcohol yet I can’t care less not when our tongues move so in sync or when I can’t help but notice how soft her lips feel. My hands move up her waist, pulling her closer she moans softly against my lips and I can feel myself harden beneath her. Slowly, I slide a hand up her thigh, using my thumb to massage it gently.

Between kisses she mumbles. “You…are…” but her words trail off as her head falls unto my shoulder.

“Did she just…no way, did she just fall asleep?” I ask myself surprised. Placing a firm hand on her back, I get up, with a sigh I gently lay her on the bed.

Covering my face with my hands, I mumble “What the f*ck am I doing?” as I stand up and head to the door but pause, my hand on the door knob as I turn back to her, she’s sleeping so peacefully. I clench my fist as I slip out quietly shutting the door behind me.

Things are more messed up than I imagined.

Chapter 2

Blair’s pov

I dash through the dark woods, the silence only broken by my footsteps, occasional snap of twigs and my gasping breaths. I glance back and catch a glimpse of the shadow figures chasing after me, adrenaline surges through me and I push myself to run faster over fallen branches and through bushes. The night is cool and eerie, each step sending shivers down my spine.

“Why are they chasing after me?” I wonder, my heart hammering in my chest. I have never been a great athlete and my body shivers with the thought of my short legs failing me.

I glance behind me again but this time they’ve been swallowed by the pitch-black darkness. Relief washes over me but I still can’t risk it not when they could return any moment from now, so I keep running. I come to a halt as I stumble upon two figures ahead one squatting in front of the other which was lying on the ground but from where I stood their upper bo
