“Do you think you can run from us?” Fyre whispered, sniffing my neck like a bloody dog. “If you run, we will give chase,” Moon smirked, running his gaze down my body, leaving shivers in their wake. “We won't rest until we get you back where you belong, right by our side!” Drake growled, his eyes hardening with each word. “The little rabbit thought he could run from us? Darling, you are in for a punishment from your kings,” Fin slowly snaked his tongue out, to lick his bottom lip, smirking when he noticed my shudder. “We will tie you in chains, and f*ck you so hard until you won't think about running away from home any more,” Lud said in a hard tone. Gulping, I gave the strange men a look, taking a step back in preparation for a retreat. **** Drugged and kidnapped, Palt, who was under the influence of a spell was taken through a ritual where he forgot all about his life at the palace with the kings. As an Incubus, he was the right candidate for the rogues, who were out to destroy the kings. When it was discovered that he was pregnant, they decided to let him keep the pregnancy, while training him to be the right mercenary for a grand plot to dethrone the kings. Now with a new name, his past forgotten, Palt is thrust into an adventure he didn't bargain for. Especially when he meets five kings who claim to be his Lords. The kings are on a hunt for their mate. And when beasts go out to prowl, they must return with their prey. It doesn't matter if the prey is willing. It must be captured.
Chapter 1 Memory loss
My head hurts. Every d*mn fibre in my body stings. It felt like I had a run-in with a monster, and lived to tell the tale, after getting my arse beaten.
Chants around me caused me to blink an eye open. I glanced around the unfamiliar room with people dressed in black, masks on their faces and hands joined.
I'm lying in the middle of the strange people, surrounded not only by them but candles.
I squinted.
What the hell is happening? Why am I ...
Wait a damned minute, who am I?
I placed my palm on my head, feeling the pain that went through me as their chants got louder.
Who the hell are these people? What am I doing in their midst? Am I part of them? Why does it seem like I'm forgetting something important? Why can't I remember anything?
I glanced around the dark room before my focus turned, once more, to the people kneeling around.
Hey!
I wanted to yell out, to get their attention. But I didn't do that. I silently watched them, the louder the chants got until I felt the need to rise from the ground.
The moment I sat up, their eyes snapped open at once. Golden eyes locked on my body from all sides. It was unnerving when you were the centre of attention. And in this case, having more than 29 pairs of eyes fixed on you will make you nervous.
“He's awake!”
A voice said from outside the circle, causing me to turn my face towards the person. Shivers went through my body when I saw the person.
Like the others, she's putting on a black robe. The only difference is the lack of a mask on her face.
Her green eyes bore into mine with a ferocity that made me gasp.
I have never met her before, but I can tell she's not someone you should joke with. A scar ran down the side of her face, giving her a very hard look.
Her purple hair is tied up in a tight ponytail. Her mouth was upturned in a frown as she gave me a once over, wrinkling her nose when she got to my body.
It was only then that I glanced down to discover that I was naked!
Bloody hell!
I immediately covered my lower body with my hands — as much as I could. It's embarrassing knowing that all along I'd been naked, while they stared at me.
“He's with child!” She spoke in a voice that sounded like the rumble of thunder.
At her words, murmurs arose from the crowd. But they quieted down when she raised her hands.
“I know this wasn't part of the plan, but we have to keep the child. Like us, the child might be a hybrid!” She yelled out, while the others jeered.
And me?
I continued to stare at them like a fool, trying to understand what the hell was going on. They lost me at 'hello' and that's where I have been.
“Come with me,” she said to me, gesturing for me to rise from the floor, and follow her.
I gulped, looking around the place in fear as I tried to think of what to do. Should I go with her or not?
I wondered, glancing at the others. It was only at that time that I noticed something. Before I thought they all had golden eyes, but it was only a few that did.
Their eyes range in colour. From green to indigo, white, grey, emerald, brown, greenish purple. It was like looking at a colour painting, and I wondered what mine would be.
Will mine be as beautiful as theirs?
I wondered, slowly raising my hand to touch my eyes, clearly forgetting that I was covering my naked body from the gazes of those around me.
“Come with me!”
I was jerked out of my thoughts by the harsh voice of the woman, who was not scowling at me. She looked so mad, it was a wonder smoke didn't come out from her nostrils.
I got to my feet, and scrambled towards her, knowing I had to do as I was asked. Though I don't know who I am or what I'm doing here, I know that I have to obey her.
She seems to be the leader or something of that kind.
With a nod of her head, she turned and headed towards the door, I failed to notice earlier because of how dark the place was.
She placed a hand on the door, and it swung open.
“F*ck!" I had to cover my eyes at the blinding light that came from outside. Having stayed in a dark room with only candles for light, my eyes felt sensitive to the foreign light.
“Come,” she said, leaving the room.
I followed, squinting, so I would be able to watch my steps. My head still hurts like hell, and with the foreign harsh light, it feels like I am about to die from the harshness.
I blindly followed her, slowly opening my eyes until I was able to fully open it without feeling the harsh light.
Around me are houses, built to house not more than five people per house. The only large house among the sea of small houses was the one we just left.
Not only was it larger, but the colour used to paint it was quite different from the orange colour used on the other houses.
The streets were empty, with no sound to be heard aside from my footsteps. It was as if we were strolling through a ghost house. And that made me wonder where exactly we were going.
My eyes kept on darting around, noting the forest that surrounded the houses.
Could it be that we live in the middle of a forest?
I wondered, still looking around, trying to check if I could remember anything — anything at all, to help my memories.
The woman stopped in front of a house, ten houses from the large one. She opened the door and gestured for me to enter before her.
“This will be your home from now on," she said, answering my unspoken question.
Chapter 2 He was taken by hybrids
MOON
It had been a long month, one we spent looking for our mate, but were unsuccessful. It was as if he disappeared into thin air, never to be seen again.
We have been searching for him tirelessly, tearing down villages, but our search has been futile. There was no sign of our mate.
Grog has also been on the lookout for him. At first, we thought he might have returned to the place where he was born, but none of his parents saw him.
“Is there any place that hasn't been searched?” Fin plopped down on his throne, looking as tired as the rest of us. None of us have had any rest, searching every village and forest for him.
“We need to wait for Grog's return. There has to be a place we haven't searched yet,” Drake sighed, running his fingers through his hair, looking as tired and spent as the rest of us.
The palace hasn't been the same since Palt disappeared. We have abandoned our duties as king and focused more on searching fo
