Attention: This is the second volume. For the first part, please search for Doctor of Darkness 1 - Cold as Ice. Johann von Sternberg is out of the picture and now Dragan and his men have finally found the last hiding places. Everyone in the castle can breathe a sigh of relief and I can finally get back to my real work - my patients, both the human and the magical ones. And I might finally have some time to enjoy my relationship with Dragan. But that was all just bold wishful thinking on my part. Because werewolves are disappearing in America and Canada. I don't mean just a few, but entire packs have been wiped off the face of the earth. The High Council of Vampires asks Dragan and his brother to investigate. To everyone's surprise, they want me to help. After all the events in the battle against Johann and his ghouls, my secret was passed on to the powerful in this world. Including my most important secret. Dragan is by my side and I don't doubt for a moment that he won't protect me. But will he stand by our love when he has to choose between his world and me? Since Vlad also decides that he doesn't just want to be a spectator, I end up standing between so many stools. Between the love of my life, between the High Councillors of the magical world and finally - between Johann's creator and his desire to cleanse this world and only let those who are worth it from his point of view live...

The way this book ended made me wanna slap this woman! The characters we lost made me wanna choke her! The fact that I have to wait to get some resolution made me want to hunt her down! But I guess that’s the mark of a good book and a telltale sign of being invested in characters. Right now I’m too sad and shocked about those we lost to say anything nicer or more profound than this. And while I know in my heart (and for logic’s sake) the main character will survive, I can’t imagine how devastated she’ll be when she awakens. So I’ll end with, this was a good book and good sequel and I’ll have to wait for the next to see how it all ends.
