Chapter 1
Lauren's POV
"Can't you just do it for me, Lauren?" Mimi pleaded, her face bearing a sad look.
I needed the money that my friend Mimi was offering me, but then this was too much. I was like a pack offender now.
The last time I had done this, I had offended our Alpha, and he gave me a big warning, and now, I'm being cautious.
"No, Mimi. What if I got caught? I'm still getting over what happened the last time," I refused, trying not to repeat my mistake.
I'm not the one to refuse Mimi, being that she's my benefactor, and I don't mind giving her anything, but this time I don't feel good about it.
It is a great risk if I help her this time, including the fact that life wasn't really good as a child with no one to turn to. Mimi looked at me with pitiful eyes. She is also in a tight position.
She's the beta's daughter, and if she gets entangled now, she won't be able to realize her dreams.
"Babe, your acting skill is way better than mine, and you are going to do a good job. Just this last time, I promised I would go speak to my parents and make them see the reasons with me.
Please, you know I can't go to a faraway pack. That Alpha is so brutal. I promise that once you are back from this, I will speak to my father to investigate your parent's death," Mimi said, and it was as if she had hot food in her mouth, and I stiffened when I heard her words, remembering how my parents died.
My parents were one of the tycoons in our pack until they were framed for murder, and it was just a death; they died mysteriously.
It was so unfair that I started to have a personal grudge for our Alpha and his pack because he wouldn't even look into my father's accident.
He believed everything that they told him. I was an eyewitness, but none would let me speak. My uncle had disowned me because I wouldn't stop fighting for my parents' death and property.
My grandfather had supported me but told me to go to school and become a better person, but then I also fell out with him after lying to him for 4 years just to use my school fee to send my boyfriend to school.
This broke my grandfather's heart, and he became so sick that even his wolf couldn't help him. I still blame myself for it, and that's the reason I put in every effort, but it seems that my effort wasn't working.
"Are you serious?" I asked her. Mimi nodded her head severely. "I promise you," she replied, raising three fingers to swear.
"But this would be the last time. I can't keep doing this for you. Your parents and the Alpha will destroy me if they find out," I said to her.
Mimi's family was one of the most powerful families in our pack, and that's why she could be the most eligible female in the pack. Mimi's family never liked me, but she stood by me. Mimi was the reason I could at least afford to feed myself when my boyfriend went to school.
Our Alpha dots on her, but the task she was giving to me again was just too heavy. "Mimi, what I do not understand is why you are refusing to marry the Alpha of BaconAven.
He's so powerful," I told her, trying to convince her. "But he's a devil. He single-handedly killed all his family," she replied with disgust.
Yes, everyone knew who the Alpha of BaconAven was, but I didn't know why I wouldn't believe them.
"When is the blind date?" Mimi was supposed to meet the Alpha of BaconAven, so I'm going to meet him on her behalf and make him think I'm not fit for a wife, which is one of the most dangerous missions I will take, but since she keeps bothering me, I have no choice.
"This evening," she smiled. I sighed and tried not to think about anything. Mimi has been rejecting every suitor in her life, and I had no idea why.
I knew Mimi was in love with a man, but then she wouldn't tell me who it was. She used to always tell me that it was a surprise, and it is indeed a surprise because Mimi is not easily pleased, so I'm anxious to know the guy who caught her heart.
"I wasn't prepared for this," I told her grudgingly and shook my head.
“No, I can't do this. I have a date with George. He would be mad if I didn't attend.” George is my boyfriend, and we've been dating for ten years.
He was the reason I fell out with my grandfather because I had to support his studies. I hadn't met Mimi when I started dating George.
He has been a supportive boyfriend even with how busy he is. He didn't let my sacrifice go in vain because he had risen to the peak of his career. George is a prosecutor, and all he is waiting for to help me investigate my parent's death is a backup.
If Mimi's father, as a Alpha in our pack, could be a support, everything would be perfect. That was why I was willing to give in to Mimi. Mimi's countenance fell.
"Lauren, please, it won't take your time. Just get there and tell the Alpha that you're not interested, then leave.
" I don't know why she always thinks it's that easy. I've gone on seven blind dates for her, and it has never been that easy. I've been beaten up, insulted, and even disgraced, sometimes reported to the Alpha.
The last one was awful because I got a warning from the Alpha, and I’ve sworn I won't do it again, but here I am now accepting Mimi's request again. I can't just refuse her.
Mimi didn't let me say more before she dragged me to the shopping mall and bought me an expensive dress for the evening. I got dressed, and she even gave me her car to drive.
"You look stunning, Lauren," she said, smiling at me. I nodded my head stiffly. I didn't like what I was about to do, or let me say, I wasn't feeling good about it, but soon I was on my way to the restaurant to meet the almighty Alpha, and I kept praying in my heart that I wouldn't regret this.
I made the sign of the cross over a hundred times before I got to the restaurant. On Getting out of the car to head into the restaurant, some men in black suits filed right in front of me, and my heart skipped.
My heart was pounding fast, and that was when I realized that I didn't bother to get the information of the blind date from Mimi. I almost hit my head on the ground.
"Young mistress, we are your escort to the venue," a female who was impeccably dressed said to me politely. I was shocked and didn't know what to say.
Mimi didn't tell me that this was the way it would be. She just said it was a meal in a restaurant. What is with the entourage? "Wait, there must…" I stammered, but she caught me off guard.
"We need to get going; we can talk later." She grabbed my hands and dragged me to a very magnificent black shining limo.
"Lauren, you can do this!" I said, screaming in my head. Why would the Alpha of BaconAven send so many people? I just hope I'm not putting myself in trouble. He would kill me if he knew that I was impersonating Mimi.
"Are you alright, ma'am?" The lady asked me with a smile on her face. I nodded my head while wishing I could tell her that she got the wrong person.
That was the last thing I remembered before I opened my eyes, and I saw myself seated in a room with a long white dress on my damn body! This must be a dream!
Chapter 2
Lauren's POV
I almost fell as I jumped to my feet, but some ladies in the room grabbed me, not allowing me to make a move. I touched my body and struggled from their grip as I walked like a zombie to the standing mirror.
"No, this can't be real! This can't be me!" I shouted. I was looking at myself fully dressed in a wedding gown with a veil on my head. This is a dream.
How did I even land here? I was supposed to be in a car heading to meet the Alpha of BaconAven, not getting wedded. I needed to wake up before this became a reality.
So I slapped myself so hard in the face, and it stings.
"Hey, don't ruin your makeup, Lauren; you are a beautiful bride," I heard a very thin, sweet voice.
I paused and turned to look at the one who spoke. If I had thought the lady who invited me to the car was impeccable, this person standing before me must be the most impeccable woman I've ever seen. She smelled money.
I couldn't speak for a while as I looked a
