Annotation
Melody was the daughter of the second-strongest Alpha in the land, yet she was considered a blemish on her father’s perfect legacy, born without a wolf, or so everyone believed. Her father had long awaited the chance to rid himself of her, and that opportunity came the day he was crowned Viscount. One fateful night, Melody found herself in the bed of a stranger, and soon after, she discovered she was pregnant. Her father’s answer was swift and merciless: she was cast out, banished from the home she had always known. Years later, she returned to her pack, two pups at her side, only to realize they were the spitting image of the new King, the strongest Lycan in the world… and her mate, the one who had once rejected her. Could he truly be the same man who had taken advantage of her that night?
Chapter 1
Monica
I was reveling in the joy of the moment, the moment I felt the bond between me and Prince Asher.
A Grin appeared at the corner of my lips as I ran all the way from the birch grove behind our pack house to the pack house to inform him.
He had just visited my father’s pack for the Annual Moon Festival yesterday.
Asher had never made eye contact with me before. He would often avoid me every time I tried to speak or approach him, he seemed to hate me.
But it didn't matter; he would definitely love me as soon as he felt the mate bond too.
My heart was beating with overwhelming happiness as I dashed inside the pack house, panting and out of breath.
As soon as I got to the door of the guest room which was assigned to prince Asher, I pulled the door open. My excitement made me forget any courtesy of knocking.
As soon as I walked in, I saw him standing by the window with his hands behind his back. He didn’t even bother to turn, like whoever had made their way in was not important.
“Prince Asher" I murmured.
“Where are your manners? Shouldn't you at least knock before walking in?”
His voice was cold and frightening, making me cower in fear, but I inhaled and spoke.
“Forgive me, prince, I came to tell you something.”
“You have ten seconds, girl,” he commanded.
I opened my mouth to tell him, even though my heart was beating heavily in my chest, and closed it back again in fear. No, I must tell him.
“I… we… You and I are…. The Moon Goddess....”
“Please get out of here if you can't articulate anything meaningful.”
He said harshly, and that made my heart beat fast in my chest.
No, no. I must do this. I must inform him.
"Did you know we are mates? We are fated mates from the Moon Goddess, ” I said finally, dropping the bomb and blushing afterwards like a fool.
But he didn’t turn. Yet he stood by the window, with his hands still behind him like the news I had just dropped had no effect on him.
I blinked in confusion. Did he not hear what I had just said?
“Prince Asher, didn’t you hear what I just said? We are fated…”
"Is that all?”
My jaw dropped. His cold reply made me realize he already knew.
“I… I……” I opened and closed my mouth again like a fish.
“Who else did you tell about this?” He breathed.
“Nobody,” I answered simply, with my heart beating violently in my chest.
He nodded in satisfaction. “Exactly. Exactly how it should be.”
“Listen carefully,” he said, finally turning fully to face me. His cold silver eyes sharply pinned me in place.
“Whatever delusion the Moon Goddess fed you, you will keep it to yourself.”
“Delusion? But…I am your mate.”
“Mate?” he repeated, as though the word tasted foul in his mouth. “You truly are delusional. I don't want a weak, wolfless, gutless little omega like you as my mate. Now scram.”
“I…I…” I stuttered, clearly short of words.
I didn't get the chance to speak when he walked closer to me and tightened his grip on my neck, bending closer to my ear just so I could hear his words clearly.
“I, Prince Asher, reject you, Monica, as my mate.” His cold voice sent shivers down my spine, and the words felt like a death sentence. Tears danced on my face instantly before I could even stop them.
My knees buckled, and before I could collapse on the floor, Asher pulled me by the neck again and threw me out of the door like unwanted garbage.
I hit the floor hard, but I didn’t feel the pain. Asher’s harsh rejection was greater than any physical pain that could happen to me.
Tears danced freely on my face.
He called me gutless and weak?
Asher's words sliced and cut deep into my heart.
What the hell was I even thinking? So foolish of me to think he would accept me because of the mate bond. He hates me so much, and he never failed to show it.
I pulled myself up and left the guest room for my room.
Luckily, my room wasn't too far. As soon as I got in, I sat under the shower and turned it on. I needed to cry out my pain.
My mate rejected me because I was weak. My heart tightened in determination. I was going to change my story. I would never be called weak ever again.

The next day, I headed down to the dining table in a hurry. It was time for breakfast, and I was a little late. I had woken up a little late.
As soon as I got there, everyone was already waiting at the dining table when I arrived.
“Good morning, father,” I greeted as I took my seat at the table.
“You are always late!!” He scolded. His eyes shot venom into me.
“I am so sorry, father. I overslept,” I answered with my heart beating fast in my chest. I could swear everyone in the room could hear it.
He gritted his teeth. “You always have one or two excuses to give. Always.”
“I… I’ll try to do better, father,” I said softly, trying to steady my trembling voice.
His eyes were cold. He seemed to be angry with me, and I knew better than to say anything out of the ordinary… it would put me in trouble.
"Father, the food will get cold. Let's eat,” my sister Bonnie breathed.
Bonnie is my younger sister, and even though I am older than her, she is prettier with finer curves.
“Yes, the food served is your favorite, father,” Elijah urged.
These two are my siblings and my father’s favorites, with good physique, strength, speed, and a wolf. None of these things I possess.
“I want to inform you that I will be celebrating my sixtieth birthday in two days,” my father continued. “Alphas and kings will be attending this ceremony, and I expect everyone to be on their best behavior.” My father finished, emphasizing the last word as he stared at me.
I knew those words were directed at me because of his cold gaze.
“I don’t want any embarrassment,” my father added, “especially from you, Monica.”
Oh! Gosh. Now he had mentioned my name, and I was so scared.
My brother, who was sitting beside me, held my hand and squeezed it to calm me down.
I felt a little better and was able to reply to father, thanks to him.
“Ok father,” I managed to reply. “Good. After this food, I want the two of you to come to me so we can plan this event together,” my father said.
I didn't need to look up to know who those words were directed at. They were for my siblings. They had the privilege to discuss important matters of the pack, while I did not get to be part of it.
“Okay, father.” They answered.
I hurried through my food, swallowing every portion that was put in my mouth without tasting it. Sitting there and eating with father felt so choking and uncomfortable to me and I could not wait to be out.
As soon as I was done, I hurried out of the dining table.
Deep down, I did not want to attend the ceremony because I did not want to cause any trouble for father.
But I knew I had no choice.
The birthday ceremony came as quickly as the rising sun. Before I even realized it, the pack house was thrown into chaos as everyone was busy doing one thing or another—well, except me.
I was the only one with nothing to do. I took a bath, dressed up, then went to the banquet hall.
As much as I didn't want to, I had no choice but to.
The birthday celebration was a successful one, and I was thankful I didn't embarrass father.
I had sat in a corner, eating and drinking while I watched everything from afar.
I did not know why it still hurt to see Elena and other girls fawning over the Prince.
I averted my gaze and slowly stood up just to realize I had gotten myself so drunk. I needed to go to my room before I did anything stupid.
My vision was hazy as I got up. I had to leave this place as soon as possible.
I left the banquet hall thankfully, and as I was walking to my room alone in my haze, I heard a voice from a distance: “That one is perfect.”
Chapter 2
Asher’s POV.
Control is the only thing that separates a prince from a beast. And tonight, I was losing it.
I leaned against the stone pillar in the banquet hall, my knuckles turned white as I gripped the edge of the table. I could feel my heart beating fast in my chest.
Someone had slipped something into my drink, and it wasn't a simple poison. It was a setup, a fucking setup.
Gosh! I needed to do something. I needed to act as fast as I could.
My Beta Adrian, who was sitting beside me, noticed and looked at me with a frown. He leaned in worriedly and whispered closely to my ear.
"Asher? Your scent is spiking. Are you in heat?"
He definitely must have scented me in heat, and in no time, the entire hall would know that I, the prince, was now in heat and this would definitely not be good.
“I am in heat, Adrian, and I am madly losing control of myself,” I managed to utter.
“What? How come? How did that happen?" Adri
