Taken by Alpha

This morning was quite rushed, if I’m being honest. The Alpha is going to visit our human district because of some problems with rebellion that have been happening here lately. Every human is scared, and every werewolf who is taking care of the district wants everything perfect. But is it even possible? They are treating us horribly, and it is very obvious. You would have to be blind not to notice. But that is not the point.

I am Lucilla, a 20-year-old female, a maid, and most importantly, human. Which means that I am scared every day of the possibility of finding my mate. Werewolves are acting like we are their other half or whatever, but at the same time, they are known for abusing human mates terribly. Allegedly, it is because we don’t want to submit, but be honest. Who would want to lose their dreams, freedom, and future to become some kind of mattress and human incubator for animals? Definitely not me. But we don’t have a choice. If they find you, you belong to them. No exceptions. You don’t want to submit? They beat you. You try to run? They beat and bind you. You don’t want to have their kids? They r*p* you. And if you have a child with another man? They kill both of them and then beat you. It is illegal to have a human male as your partner. It is either your soulmate or no one at all.

After I told you this, you can imagine how risky it is to have a boyfriend. But I do have one. His name is Hayden, and I love him dearly. We started planning our wedding before all of this happened, but now we can’t. Now we are just dating in secret. If they find out, he is dead. But we love each other so much that we cannot be anything but together. It is like a drama from Shakespeare, only sadder.

As I said, I am working as a maid in the house of one of the guards. He is not very nice to me, but he pays me enough, and sometimes his wife gives me some food. She is human like me and is the sweetest, but the bruises are so obvious. I really don’t want to end up like her. I just want my Hayden, who treats me with respect and love.

He is, by the way, a servant in this house as well. The best gardener in the district. You can only imagine the flowers he brings me. It is not quite legal, but remember, girls… if he wanted to, he would 🤭

But as I was saying before, today is a big day, and I haven’t had a chance to see him for two days straight, so I am very excited for the afternoon. That is the moment when the werewolves will discuss matters about the rebellion, and we can have some time together. Ironic, right? And very risky. But worth it every single time.

Now back to my work. I still need to clean three more rooms in this mansion and have only about an hour or maybe max two. It is a tiring job, but I get paid, and that is all that matters. And I would rather work than be a housewife and breeder for some disgusting, filthy animal.

A few months ago, I had a friend who was thinking like this. She would find her soulmate, they would fall in love, marry, and she would never work another day in her life. She was partially right, though. They married, and she didn’t need to work anymore. But only after eleven months together, she was expecting his second child, and he had already started talking about a third and a fourth one.

She had her first child willingly. But when she told him that she needed some time to recover from birth, he got angry because he wanted another child right away. She didn’t submit, and he took her against her will. Now she misses her old life. So much for that love. But she can’t leave him. No one truly can leave their soulmate. They would always find you.

My employer’s wife once told me about her attempt to run away. It did not end very well. It has been more than twenty years now, and he is still mad about it. That’s why he hurts her. That’s why she has so many bruises. Like, what the hell is wrong with them? This is not love. It is more like an obsession.

Sometimes I think she told me that story because she knows about me and Hayden, but that is not possible. We are careful. Meetings only in the afternoon, showering after our meetings, and we are never that touchy in front of others. Only some smiles and a few words. Not more, not less. How could anyone know? They surely can’t. I am just being a little paranoid because of the Alpha’s arrival.

I am working on my last room when someone starts screaming. At first, I am confused. Why would someone scream like that at this time? But then I remember. The Alpha is here! The Alpha is already here, and I should be outside waiting for him like the other employees. Oh my God, I am really late. My employer would kill me. I am so dead.You can only imagine how fast I am running. I probably have never run faster. I need to be there before he leaves his car. Gods be with me.

This is not good. This is really not good. I am running down the stairs and finally can see what is happening outside. Everyone except me is in their place, and the Alpha’s car is coming. He is still inside it, so there is a small chance I can make it in time without anyone noticing.

I am looking for my beloved Hayden so I can stand next to him. I search everywhere until I finally see him. He looks nervous and is waving at me. I have more luck than brains because I reach him at the exact moment the Alpha’s car stops and he steps out.

“What the hell, Lucilla?” Hayden whispers. “You scared me!”I just shrug my shoulders. That was truly a close one.

Everyone starts to bow to him when I finally see him properly. He is tall, with broad shoulders and the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.

Oh. And he is very handsome.

Alex’s POV

You can’t even imagine how much I hate these meetings. Everything was so peaceful in my pack when, all of a sudden, another human rebellion started. Their district never learns. How many times do I need to punish them? It’s annoying. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for werewolves to have a human mate. They must be so stubborn. And for what? In the end, every one of them submits to us. If I had one, I would show her exactly who she belongs to. My kind is too benevolent with their human mates. They love them too much. I don’t truly understand it. It’s weak.

But as I was saying, today I have another meeting with the general of the human district. We need to discuss many things, like better safety, punishments, and what to do with human males. They are good for work, but nothing else. And most of them are behind these stupid and pointless rebellions anyway. It is not even legal for human males to be with human females. They belong only to us werewolves. J
