Moon Shine

I woke up in my bed with a slight headache. I think I overindulged in drinking last night.

It's been a long time since I've been in my apartment. "I need to stop drinking so much when I get to town," I said as I tried to get out of bed. I couldn't complain; I was celebrating returning home after so much time away.

I head to the bathroom, but before entering I pass by the dressing room. It's small, but it's just the right size for all my things, one wall of shoes, two walls of bags. The truth is, I don't know why I have so many bags if I don't use them. I took everything I needed for the bathroom and continued towards the shower, I turned on the heater to heat the water while I waited, I am in front of the sink mirror. It is black granite, just a little shiny and the mirror is giant that reflects the entire bathroom. How I love my bathroom, it is not luxurious but it is exactly how I always wanted it. I step into the shower, it falls like a waterfall and I let the hot water run all over my body and makes my muscles relax. Bliss is matte black and I am as white as milk, I stand out too much in a bathroom like that.

I quickly get out of the shower and start getting dressed, when I get out I head to the kitchen, my apartment is a mono studio, it's too big to be one but I love open spaces, the kitchen is small but very comfortable where it has a small island in the center there is the dishwasher, I prepare the coffee while I wait I sit at the island and I see the landscape, it is beautiful I think the best in the city, a couple of years ago I put the entire north side in glass without any walls to allow me a better landscape.

The town is in a small valley at the foot of some glorious mountains, it's cold most of the time, but when the sun comes out it's beautiful.

"I missed the wolf world too much" I said as I went down to drink my coffee, I had spent too much time in the human world.

I had been doing very well at my job, but I had to go back, one of my missions had ended and I had to make a report. I think this is the biggest meeting with high command I've ever had due to the results of my mission, I would meet with the 4 elite alphas, who are currently the alphas with the strongest and largest packs in the wolf world and there would be the supreme Alpha twins who are like wolf royalty, they are in charge of the wolf world under the king.

Luckily my best friend Samuel Smith was one of the four elite Alphas, I met him in detention when we were in the academy, he was older than me and he was really surprised to see me in that room and we coincided too much. Sam finally got his Luna, too beautiful, after waiting almost 3 years, his moon turned out to be the sister of the twins, but that's a long story to summarize, they already had 2 beautiful pups and apparently they had more on the way, I was dying to see their little pups the last time I saw them they were just newborns, I hope they remember my smell.

The twins on the other hand were not my favorites, over the years we have had too many roses, I had never had to work with them until today because their father retired and they took power which had delayed since they had not found their moon, although gossip says that she is not their moon, she was a chosen couple to be able to assume power, I do not know, I would have to find out when I got to the pack house, my house was 2 hours away, I liked living away from everything to be able to think so I chose this small town. I burned with coffee which takes me out of my thoughts, I dry everything while I open a drawer where the spoons and forks were supposed to be, but instead there were weapons and ammunition and a couple of hunting knives

I closed the drawer and continued opening the next ones until I found a small spoon. I put sugar in it and stir the coffee, and I feel someone come in, instinctively I take one of the knives and get ready when I realize it's Henry come in completely naked with what look like grocery bags.

"D*mn! Henry, I almost stabbed you" I yelled "You could at least have some clothes on when you transform".

"I'm sorry" he says, returning to his original form, which is a dark brown Labrador retriever .

Henry is a cursed dog, thousands of years ago in the war between worlds the sorcerers created those of his kind, cursed dogs that had certain abilities, Henry was one of a kind he could transform into a human and have an excellent communication ability and he in particular is too intelligent, apart from that he had many more abilities almost all of a werewolf and more. I met Henry in my first year as a hunter, his entire family had been killed by vampires that he was hunting.

When I found him, he was in very bad shape, so I took him to my base, healed him, and couldn't leave his side. I asked the king to please let me stay with him and besiege him. We were an exception since by law he couldn't be here in the wolf world; his kind was exiled to the human world. Because the king allowed his stay with me, he set a precedent, and now there are more of his kind in various parts of the wolf world and also in almost all the magical worlds.

Many people want them as pets, and others want to explore their potential by making them hunters, among other things. The truth is, I never demanded anything from Henry, but I earned his loyalty, and we're great friends. He's really helped me a lot these past two years.

The door is still open when suddenly Kiki and Bruce enter, they are two pitbulls, who are also cursed dogs, Kiki is a caramel-colored American Bully, the most beautiful I've ever seen, and Bruce is a white American terrier with brown spots on his ear and chest, they joined us a few months after Henry and I started hunting together, you could say they are Henry's apprentices, but they cannot transform into humans, although they can communicate easily.

"Well, tell me they brought something good" I say while I finish my coffee

"Just a little food and toiletries. I imagine there's nothing left in this house after so much time" said Bruce as he threw himself onto the couch.

"As always, Bruce is thinking about food" said Kiki, following him to the couch

"And you went to the supermarket as a human, completely naked without caring what others think," I said to Henry, looking at him with half-closed eyes over my cup.

"I'm not stupid. I put a note on my collar and shopped like a dog at the store." Henry said, lowering his ears. "I transformed into the elevator so I could press the buttons."

I couldn't contain my laughter at everything I was hearing.

"You know, you could have used the stairs now I have to erase the building's cameras so no one sees you" I try to say seriously, but a small smile escapes me Henry turns around and gives me his dog back, I bend down, pet him and I give him a kiss and he tries to stay serious, but I see as if his tail is wagging.

"Henry, even if everyone knows of your existence, you can't go transforming in public, much less walk around naked. This town is full of old people who still live believing in the old rules" I tell him while I'm still crouched down and I see how his tail stays still and his ears lower.

"You know I'm not a child anymore" he growls at me angrily and I can notice his tone a little defiant.

His rebelliousness bothers me a little, but I get up and don't say anything. Besides, I wasn't his best example. I'm terrible at following rules, so I let the matter rest. But he has to understand that everything I do is because I care about him, and the truth is that he is a child because he is only 3 years old.

I get up from the floor and go to where the bags are, I start looking and as expected there was only dog food, different types of kibble and a couple of toys, I laugh while I take it out, this is what Bruce meant by grooming products and I couldn't hold back my laughter, that calmed the tension a little.

We spent time on the couch watching TV, a perfectly normal scene, a girl with her three dogs, but the truth is, there was nothing normal about us. I thought about everything that was coming up. Honestly, I was very nervous about the meeting, not only about giving my report, but also because my future depended on the decision made there, whether I could continue being a hunter or not.

I get a text and it takes me out of my thoughts. It's Tyler, Sam's beta.

Tyler: Why didn't you tell me you were coming? I would have come looking for you.
