Chapter 1
ELOWYN POV
My face brightened with a smile as I stared at my reflection in the mirror. The moment I have been anticipating for all my life is finally here.
Not only am I going to get married to the love of my life, I am going to be crowned the Alpha of our pack. Moonbless pack.
I am going to be crowned the first female Alpha of Moonbless, alongside my love, as my assistant.
“Alpha princess, everyone is already waiting for you in the ceremony hall,” my maid's voice cut through the silence of the dressing room, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Alpha princess, we're already done with the makeup,” the makeup artist spoke up before I could make an excuse for my hesitation.
I stared at the mirror one more time before I stood up to leave.
Each step I took alongside my maid who assisted me with my bucky gown made my heart race. I am excited and nervous.
I have imagined this day happening a thousand times but I can't help feeling nervous.
Stepping into the hall, everyone's cheers echoed, as if they had been waiting for this as much as I am.
“I wish Alpha Silas was alive to see this day,” my maid whispered into my ears.
I bit down on my lips, trying hard not to cry. Even though I was a female, my father never stopped believing in me. Believing I can lead the Moonbless pack regardless of my gender.
I walked up to the pack elder, Elder Thorne.
“Alpha princess, where is your mate?” Elder Thorne asked, making me swallow my words.
I was just about to ask the same thing. He was supposed to be here, ready to walk this path with me as promised.
“Everyone has been waiting now. He has to be here so we would proceed with the ritual and crowning ceremony,” his voice echoed again.
I stood in front of everyone, unable to think of what was delaying Dravin.
We talked about how this ceremony would be— walking up to him, performing the ritual, getting crowned as the Alpha of this pack, and getting marked by him right in front of everyone.
But why is he not here now?
“Since we don't know why the Alpha princess’s fiancé isn't here now, Elder Thorne, can't we just proceed with the ceremony?” Beta Delv, who would step down for my love, asked calmly.
I raised my gaze to look at everyone. From the looks on their faces, it was obvious they were tired of waiting.
“Beta Delv, we can't crown a female Alpha without her mate by her side,” Elder Thorne muttered, making me tighten my grip around my gown.
I wonder what was keeping him this long.
Unable to stand it any longer, I turned to leave for his chamber, hoping to find him.
“He is here.”
Everyone's cheering voice made me halt. I raised my gaze to look at my fiancé, Dravin.
Before I could walk up to him, Elder Thorne’s voice echoed.
“Since our Alpha princess's mate is here, in the moon's grace, we will continue with the—”
“Elder Thorne, I have something to say before we continue,” his deep voice interrupted Elder Thorne.
I don't know, but I felt so impatient. Heaven… I can't wait to have this done with, get claimed, and have the Moonbless crown on my head.
A dream that is now becoming my reality.
“Go on,” Elder Thorne nodded.
“I know we all have anticipated this moment, but I swear to the moon, it is not it. This isn't what any of us wanted,” his words made the hall go silent, leaving me in confusion.
What in heaven's sake is he talking about?
“Alpha princess Elowyn, daughter of the late Alpha Silas, is undeserving of becoming our Alpha,” my legs weakened at his words, my chest tightened, tears trying to force their way down my face.
“Dravin Rune, why did you make such an utterance about your mate who you are going to get married to tonight?” Elder Thorne asked, everyone in support of his question.
Everyone knows I am very capable of ruling the pack. Aside from the fact that I was the heir of the late Alpha, I was born, raised, and proven to be worthy of becoming the Alpha everyone wanted.
“I am not Elowyn’s mate!” my eyes widened at Dravin's words, the pack members left in shock. “She had been deceiving everyone!”
I tried to speak but couldn't. I was short of words, unable to believe my eyes. Unable to believe this same Dravin was the one who had been excited about this day for me… the same Dravin who I loved with my whole heart.
“Alpha princess, what is your mate talking about?” Beta Delv asked curiously.
“Alpha princess Elowyn is a born Omega who has never wolfed out,” Dravin muttered before I could say a word. “She had been deceiving everyone in this pack, including me!”
Hot tears made their way to my face as I watched Dravin reveal the secret I told only him. A secret which I never revealed to anyone in the pack because I don't want to be seen as weak.
Even without my wolf, I defeated the strongest male in the pack and also in other packs.
“Dravin, how do you expect us to believe your accusations when we know how strong Alpha princess Elowyn is,” Elder Thorne revealed, trying not to believe even a single word from Dravin. “If you dare—”
“Our Luna can testify to all that I have said,” Dravin's voice silenced him, leaving me in awe.
I turned to face my stepmother, hoping she would help me out. She is the only one who can save me from this destruction.
I don't know what I did to Dravin to deserve this treatment from him… just when I am so close to achieving my dream.
“Every word from Dravin is true,” Luna Isa muttered calmly, her words like a dagger, tearing the remaining confidence and hope that gave me the strength to keep standing in front of everyone. “Elowyn isn't my late husband's daughter. Luna Amelia cheated with another male, and the result was her…”
Chapter 2
ELOWYN POV
“If you don't believe me, you can ask the priestess. She can testify to that,” my stepmother’s words left me dumbfounded.
It was as if this was all planned…
“Stepmother, what are these lies about? Tell them everything you just said is a lie! Please!” The words rushed out of my lips, each word forcefully torn out.
No matter how hard I try to make sense out of all this, I can't. It isn't making any sense.
How can the people I trusted and cherished the most be tearing me apart?
“For the sake of her brother who is the late Alpha's blood, I couldn't reveal this truth, I am sorry,” the fake tears rolling down her face made me dig my fingers into the ground.
“Was everything Luna Isla said true?”
Elder Thorne, who was now facing the priestess standing right next to him, asked loudly.
Staring at the priestess, I closed my eyes, praying inwardly. Hoping she would stand by my side. She would save me from this humiliation.
