Annotation
Amelia never thought in her eighteen years of life that she could feel hunger, but right now, as she clutched her stomach to stop the hunger pains, she felt like she was living in a nightmare. She hadn't shifted yet, and with the way she was malnourished and alone, she knew it was impossible to shift into her wolf. She also could not accept her Lycan in her current state. Amelia was not a normal werewolf but the Lycan princess. Their species had both wolf and Lycan, and their specialty was that they could entirely shift into werewolves as well as Lycan, and also both at the same time. "No, No, No, Noooooo," Amelia yelled when her hunger pain turned into the pain of her bones breaking and rearranging by themselves. She horrifyingly came to the realization that she was shifting for the first time and no one was with her. Tears streamed down her face as she thought about her parents and how the three of them were waiting for this moment. She didn't know how much time had passed, but the pain was so overbearing and gut-wrenching that it made her lose consciousness. The last words she heard before slipping into a painless sleep were, " I found her, I found Princess Amelia." The familiar female voice soothed her in the vast forest she had run into from her palace after she saw her parents get killed by their rival Kingdom mercilessly.
Chapter 1
Amelia's POV...
I walked through the woods, searching for something to eat or drink. I had been walking for days, but I hadn't seen anyone around. I was worried about what might have happened to my parents. I hoped they were still alive. My parents had told me to run as far as I could after our rival, the Elrod family, came into the city unannounced.
The breeze suddenly picked up, and I got a little scared, knowing I wouldn't be able to fight anyone since I still couldn't transform. I heard a voice behind me and turned to see a man badly injured.
I didn't know who he was, but he looked like royalty, and he was so masculine. It was nighttime, and I couldn't see his features well. "Please save me," he pleaded, and I squinted my eyes. He turned into his wolf form and lay there. My mother had taught me how to treat an injured wolf, and I hoped I could put it into practice this time.
I looked around the woods for the leaves with healing properties and found them after a while. I went back to where the injured werewolf was lying. His features looked different from the werewolves I knew, but I couldn't identify what they were.
He looked like a Lycan, but I wasn't sure. "It might be a little painful, but you have to endure it," I muttered before rubbing the leaves against my palm to extract the juice. I applied it to his wound and pressed the rubbed leaves onto his skin.
He howled silently. "It must be so painful. You should get better in a few days. What about your family? Are you a rogue?" I questioned, knowing I wouldn't get a response.
"You should wait here until they come for you. I have to go now." I remembered I was told to run as far as I could. I left the injured wolf and ran from the place completely. "How could you leave him there like that? Are you that heartless?" my self-conscience bothered me.
I felt I shouldn't have left him alone, but I needed to run from the enemies too. I bit my lips in regret and went back to where the assumed werewolf was staying, but he was no longer there. I was confused and scared. I hoped he would be okay wherever he was.
My stomach rumbled in hunger, and I clutched my abdomen tightly. I was so hungry, and it was getting painful. I moved down onto the floor and held my stomach tightly. "Oh no!" I muttered under my breath when I noticed the pain got worse.
I looked back and saw no one around who could help me. My entire body was on the floor, and I felt my bones cracking. It was then I realized what was happening to me! After all these years of waiting, my body finally decided to shift. I never imagined it would be this painful. I had heard about people's experiences with shifting, but I never knew it was this painful.
I was shifting! My bones were rearranging, and my clothes were getting off my body. "No, no, no!" I screamed out loud as it got more painful. I felt myself turning back immediately after I howled.
I was on the floor, naked, and years flowed down my cheeks when I thought about my parents. I didn't know if I should be happy or sad; they had waited all these years for me to shift, and now it happened, but they weren't there with me.
I had no energy left, feeling lifeless. Was the feeling always like this? My eyelids got heavy, but I was still scared. I didn't know what would come for me. I tried to stop myself from closing my eyes and sleeping off. "We found her already! We found Princess Amelia." I heard that familiar voice from afar and felt reassured knowing I had been found by my people.
My eyes opened slowly, and the family scent hit my nose. It smelled like home, like my comfort, and I was happy to have been found. I struggled to stand up from the bed while my entire body was still in pain from shifting last night. "You're awake," I heard that familiar voice behind me.
I looked at my stand and saw Marilyn standing at the door entrance with her hands on her waist. She was my mother's closest friend, like an elder sister to me. "You've been in a coma for the past few days." She broke the silence between us.
"What about my parents? Where are they?" I couldn't stop thinking about them since yesterday. They had been on my mind. I looked at her face while I waited for a response. I saw the expression on her face, and that made me feel unto the bed. There was no need for her to reply anymore; those expressions on her face already gave me the answer I was looking for.
My heart became heavier, and tears flowed down my cheeks as I tried to process my thoughts.
"It happened; they were killed by the Elrod family. We tried to stop them, but we couldn't. Your parents told us to make sure we found you before they died." Marilyn explained everything to me, which made me sob even more.
I never imagined my parents would die this way. At least, if they wanted to die, it should have been a natural death. "What did they do to deserve it? What did my parents do to them that could warrant their death? What did we do to them?" I kept hitting my chest, and those unanswered questions came out of my mouth. I placed my head between my laps, subdued quietly, and took a huge sigh of doubt and hurt.
"A lot of people were killed too. We left early and managed to escape." She walked up to me, rubbed my back, and tried to comfort me as I wouldn't stop crying.
"If I were you, I would do everything in my power to kill the person who did this to them." She whispered to me, and I raised my head slowly, seeing the determination in her eyes.
"Really?" I looked at her, and she nodded. "You should stop crying now. Your parents wouldn't want to see you this way. I bet they would want to see how strong you are, and you should show them how strong you are. Let them know you're not that weak girl." Marilyn told me, and I nodded. "Come here, baby girl."
She pulled me under her shoulder, patted me, and let me continue weeping. I would make sure to avenge my parents. I wanted to ensure they paid for what they did to my parents. My parents were so innocent; they didn't deserve to be treated that way.
"Did you know what he looks like? Did you know what Lucian looks like?" I questioned her in curiosity. She squinted her eyes, and I waited for a response.
"I got a little glimpse of what he looked like when I saw him the other day. He was badly injured, by the way. Immediately after he killed your parents, he went out alone that night. Tony injured him badly; I guess someone must have saved him on the way."
She informed me, and I stood up immediately, wiping away the tears rolling down my cheeks. He was the one I met in the woods a few days ago? Oh my goodness! I saved the person who killed my parents?!
Chapter 2
Amelia's POV.
I walked through the streets of our town with a lot of the people still trying to fix things. Our town didn't look like what it used to be, it Looked like an abandoned one.
"We should get back. We shouldn't let anyone to see you." Marilyn whispered to my ear while I was still looking around.
"They won't be able to notice me. You should be rest assured. I am putting on a veil, and I rarely came out of the palace, so it wouldn't be easy for them to recognize me. " I assure her as she heaved a deep sigh of relief.
I bet she must have forgotten about the fact that my parents barely allowed me to leave the palace. I just go out once in a while anytime there would be a festival. I looked around, and then saw a man who was struggling to walk, and then he fell down immediately.
I wanted to rush to him immediately, but people who were around me did before I could r
