Chapter 1

Daniella Point of View

"Good morning, Daniella Morris," my best friend, Ariana, said.

"Good morning, Ariana Maria," I replied, collecting the cup of coffee she handed to me.

We were in our free time, although it wasn't for everyone. Ariana wore a smile on her face as she sat beside me with her blonde hair packed.

"I would like to tell you about..." She was saying, but I cut in. There was no need for her to speak.

I knew what she wanted to say, but it didn't seem fair. We were having our free time and should stay off any case for now.

She didn't speak again, and we had our coffee together.

A lot of things had been going through my head. Numerous cases were to be met, and at home, I was bothered about my stepsister.

My phone began to ring, and when I picked it up, it was my father.

"Excuse me," I said, handing my cup of coffee to Ariana.

After speaking to my father, I walked back to Ariana, who asked me who it was. She nodded her head when I told her that it was from my father.

An hour later, we were to resume our duty, and I went to meet my boss when he called me. I knocked on his door, and he ushered me in.

"Take a seat, Daniella," he said.

I stared at him as he looked at a paper in front of him. Why did he call me?

This only meant that Mr. Alex was worried about what he wanted to say.

"Do not conflict about it, sir," I said. "I'm willing to hear and do anything you have for me so far, it's within our line of duty."

"Alright," he said with a smile on his face. "Do you believe in love?"

I rolled my eyes, thinking of what he asked. That wasn't in our line of duty. There was a time when I believed in love, but now, I don't.

"Give me a response," he said.

Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and shook my head.

"I don't,"

Mr. Alex smiled, and this made me confused.

"Then you are perfect for this job," he said, and before I could ask him for the reason, he said such, he continued, "You should send some of your crew to inspect the place before you take action."

I nodded my head and forced out a smile. He pushed the paper that he was reading to me and sighed.

"You would be going undercover again."

I nodded my head and smiled before getting up. After taking a bow, I left his office with the paper.

I sat on my seat and busied myself reading the paper, but before I could finally read through, Ariana walked to me.

"What duty is next?" She asked, and I smiled.

There was no need to keep things away from her. She is my best friend.

I cleared my throat, then began with the first question that Mr. Alex asked. Ariana couldn't stop laughing.

After she left, I returned my gaze to the paper. I understood the reason he asked that question.

I was meant to pose like a person who is interested in being a girlfriend.

Hours passed by without my knowledge. Everywhere was quiet, but I was lost in thought.

BANG!

I heard a deafening sound and looked up. Ariana glared at me like I was doing something wrong.

Looking around, I discovered that the office was empty.

"I didn't see you outside, so I had to check on you," she said. "What is the issue?"

"I'm meant to behave like someone interested in being a girlfriend," I said.

Ariana smiled happily, then touched my cheek.

"Why are you smiling?" I asked. "You know it's technical."

"Not technical for you," she said, smiling.

I stamped my foot angrily on the floor. Why couldn't she understand me?

"You do remember the reason I chose not to love again," I said.

Ariana took in a deep breath and nodded.

I knew how sad she was to hear this. For me, my boyfriend cheated on me and accused me of a lot of things while she was sent away by both her parents and boyfriend after her pregnancy.

"Do not feel sad, Ariana," I patted her back. "You lost the child because of your weakness, not because you wanted to get rid of it."

Hearing this, Ariana pulled me into a hug.

"You are my sister and best friend," she said.

We packed up, and I signed my exit before leaving with Ariana. I got into her car and we chatted.

I felt a sense of relief when I got back home.

"Where is Montana?" I inquired about my stepsister.

Last night, she told us that she would be back in the morning, but it was close to evening.

"We don't know where she is," Mother answered. "We tried calling her, but it's unreachable."

I nodded and sat on a chair. I typed her phone number into one of the tracking apps that I had on my laptop.

"You should try to call her," I said. "I would trace it."

According to the indication, her phone was in a bar. I informed my parents about this and set to go out. Father wanted to come along with me, but I refused.

"I promise to get her back home," I said, and left in my father's car.

I drove as fast as I could but maintained my driving speed. As an officer of the law, I can't go against the law of the state and country.

At last, I got to the bar and got out of the car. I was in a house wear so no one could suspect that I was a cop.

After locating Montana, I walked to her. She was drunk with nobody by her side.

"Miss, she hasn't completed her payment," an attendant told me, and I asked to pay her debt.

I took Montana into the car with difficulty. She was speaking gibberish, and her body stunk of alcohol.

Chapter 2

Daniella Point of View

Taking Montana home was difficult with all the words she was speaking. I had no other option but to tie her to the chair. She tried breaking out and used her commanding tone, but I didn't budge.

"I am older than you, Daniella," she said, and I smiled. I would have replied to her if she were in her right state of mind, but she wasn't.

Any word I say to her would be useless, so I continued driving.

Getting home, I was about to pack the car but noticed my father outside. It was obvious that he was waiting for my arrival with Montana.

I flashed him a smile and drove to pack the car.

Father held Montana to himself as we went in. I smiled immediately we got in and looked around for mother.

Mother walked to us with a plate in her hand. She shook her head, looking at Montana. We understood what she meant by that, so we got up while she sat beside her.

"Oh, Montana, why did you get yourself drunk?" Mother asked.

"Wh
