The story starts with Anne, daughter of Don Ricardo, confronting her father about his decision to crown her younger brother, Miguel, as underboss instead of her. He dismisses her, citing her gender as the reason. Frustrated and angry, Anne visits her fiancé, Luigi, for comfort but finds him with another woman, Ava, who he introduces as his fiancée. Ava reveals she is pregnant and the daughter of a powerful don, making her a more suitable partner for Luigi. Anne is heartbroken and betrayed, and a confrontation ensues, resulting in her being thrown out by Ava's guards. Anne is left alone, crying and heartbroken, feeling betrayed by Luigi and her father's constant dismissal. Still reeling from her heartbreak, she visits a club to drown her sorrows. In the VIP section, she catches the eye of a mysterious and handsome man, and they exchange flirtatious glances. Anne is drawn to him despite his cold demeanor and decides to take a chance. They dance and flirt, and he invites her to leave with him. They end up in a luxurious hotel room, where he takes control, and they eventually have s*x with the werewolves Anne, who is always the one in control, submitting to his dominance. The next day, Anne wakes up still in bed with the handsome stranger, only to discover that she must leave quickly to attend to a family matter. Her brother, Miguel, had been captured by Don Giovanni's men after operating in their territory without permission. Don Giovanni is the biggest Don in the country, second to none, and Anne's father's rival and nemesis. Anne and her father try to negotiate Miguel's release. However, things take a shocking turn when Don Giovanni arrives, and Anne realizes he is the same man she spent the night with. The story takes a dramatic turn as Anne processes this unexpected revelation. Don Giovanni's true intentions are yet to be revealed and Anne is hellbent on figuring it out.
Chapter 1
“You cannot do that, Father!” I said angrily, slamming my hand against the table while trying to control my rising anger, but I was failing.
My dad glanced up from his papers, twitched his spectacles, and returned to his work, obligingly disregarding me. He put down his papers, took a seat, and picked up a smoke after a short while. Behind him, one of his guards lit it for him. He took a drag and looked at me while he blew smoke into the air. Finally, he said, "What is it, Gianna?" in the most casual of tones.
I gritted my teeth to control my escalating rage. I inhaled deeply and uttered,
“To begin with, why did you declare Miguel to be an underboss? Even though I've supported you through risky missions and negotiations that could change your life, why is it that Miguel deserves that title and I don't? Father, he hardly does anything at all!”
Without saying anything, he just looked at me and took another drag from his cigarette.
He blew out the smoke and uttered, "You are a female, regardless of what you do or how you feel."
My heart was broken by those remarks.
“It's almost absurd to imagine that I would allow a woman to take on the job of underboss in my organization. Would you like me to be laughed at by the other dons?l
I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration, trying to calm myself. His sexist remark annoyed me. It wasn’t my fault I was female, and he certainly wasn’t making life any easier for me. Miguel was my younger brother, who rarely did anything productive. All he knew was how to change girls like outfits and lavishly spend money. Yet, somehow, he was always favored by our father. “You know I deserve this father, you do. Why does it matter if I am a woman? What is so embarrassing about that?”
“Listen, Anne, you have no say in this matter. Miguel is a man and not some weak, emotional woman like you, your brother is the obvious option for the job. Despite your best efforts to appear resilient, you are really simply a helpless young girl dressing up. I won't treat you any differently simply because you're my daughter. Not you, but your brother is this family's future." He spit out in a chilly manner.
I nodded, understanding just how cruel and hurtful my father could be in his decisions. With that, I turned on my heel, storming out of his study and closing the door with a loud bang. I knew I could get in trouble later for that, but I didn't care; I was far too angry to worry about the implications of my actions.
I got into my car and drove straight to Luigi’s place. He was my fiancé, the man I was supposed to marry in the coming months. Whenever my father frustrated me like this, I always found some kind of comfort with him.
When I eventually arrived to his place, I pulled over. I inhaled deeply, exited the car, and made my way to the door. I rang the doorbell and waited for him to answer, tapping my feet softly on the floor. I pressed it again since I was impatient and there was none. The door opened in a few seconds, and Luigi was there to greet me with a smile.
Closing the door behind him as though to keep me from entering, he stepped outside. He appeared anxious. I raised an incomprehensive eyebrow. "You didn't tell me you were coming today, Anne."
I looked at him, trying to figure out if he was okay. I always dropped by whenever I wanted, and he never had a problem with it before. “Look, baby, you have no idea how stressed I am,” I said, kissing him gently on the lips before walking past him into the building. I let out a sigh, settling into the couch. “My father is a monster.”
“I understand, Anne, but you need to leave, please,” he said, his tone almost pleading. It was then I noticed his behavior. He appeared nervous and scared, sweat rolling down his forehead as he gulped. What is wrong with him?
“What do you mean to leave? I just got here. Didn’t you hear what I was saying about my father?”
With uneasy glances up the stairs, he responded, "Yes, I heard, but I have plans to travel now."
His actions caused me to peek up the stairs as well, but I saw nothing.
“You never told me that you were going to be on the road. What are you trying to say?”
I started to notice something wasn't quite right as my gaze moved up and down his tense body. I sincerely hoped it wasn't my thoughts.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Luigi? You look like you’re about to pass out.”
He opened his mouth to say something, but I heard a woman's voice from upstairs.
“Hey, honey, what are you doing down there?"
I heard as the woman’s heels clanged on the stairs.
The look on Luigi’s face was like he had seen a ghost. I immediately sprang to my feet and turned to see who it was. The girl and I made eye contact, both confused, before we stared at Mike, expecting an answer.
Luigi smiled nervously, while I waited for an explanation, knowing things were about to get very ugly. “What is going on here?” I asked.
Luigi ran his fingers through his hair, “Well…” He paused, growing increasingly nervous, and took a deep breath. “Ava, meet Anne, my friend. Anne, meet Ava, the woman I am going to marry.”
The look on Ava’s face immediately changed when Luigi introduced me as his friend.
What the hell was going on?
Ava approached me and extended her hand for a handshake, but I declined. I stared at Luigi, who had no regrets at all.
“Did you just say that Ava is the one you’re going to marry? Then you introduced me as your friend? Is this a joke? You’re engaged to me, how is it possible that you are marrying someone else?” I asked, attempting to keep my temper in check.
Ava withdrew her hand, her expression shifting. Luigi rolled his eyes, trying to compose himself.
“Look, Anne, I didn’t mean for you to find out this way.” He walked towards Ava, standing beside her as he held her waist close.
“Let me officially introduce you to the love of my life and the woman I am going to marry.” He placed a kiss on her lips, smiling at me before saying, “Ava…”
Chapter 2
It was getting fairly tempting to shoot him through the head at that point. I observed him for some time, maintaining a chilly expression while his was toughened. What was giving Mike this much courage when he knew exactly who I was and that I could choose to kill him right then and there and still get away with it?
“Look, Anne, isn’t it?” Ava finally spoke, gently tucking her hair behind her ear as she stepped forward, staring at me with confidence. “I know who you are—daughter of Don Ricardo, isn’t it?” She smirked before adding, “The daughter who is simply trying to find favor in her father's eyes but still hasn’t gotten any. I’ve heard you’re like a little puppy, always begging for scraps from Don Salvatore's table. Pathetic, if you ask me. I know all about you, but I don't think you know about me.”
I clenched my teeth, staring at her with earnest attention, her words gradually wearing thin.
“If he made the decision to marry me, you can't blame him. Like your
