“I despise you” the king snarled. “Likewise” I snarled back. The man was standing, still glaring at me from his throne. “But I need you” the words were bitter. “And I need food. Doesn’t mean that I want it right now” his snarl made me sigh. “Leave me be. We will end up killing each other anyway” I turned around away from him. “Aurora, STAY” I threw my hands up. “Edmond… F*CK OFF” Flipping him off I turned to walk out of the depressing throne room. “AURORA” I gritted my teeth. I would not turn around. I needed more than this. More than a man who only needed me for his own gain. Honestly, he can use his own hand. I wouldn’t give him another thought. “AURORA” I blinked standing in front of at least twenty of the Kings guards. They were ready to catch me. I grinned sadly. “Peace” I raised my hand in a peace sign blinking right out of there. AURORA I had a feeling that I knew I was different. My family was not sane but in the good way that would always make you laugh and be there when you cried. But there was also something that they weren’t telling me. One thing that would change my whole life. I didn’t think that it was going to be this hard. Or this problematic to me. As my powers grow, I meet new people. Face new fears that in the past would have made me run scared yet I can now face them head on. But of course, there is another problem. War will be starting, and I am the only one in the way. Would I be able to make the right decision when I had two would be kings gunning after my powers? EDMOND I f*ck*d *p. I mean no pun but I had royally f*ck*d *p. Maybe if I got down on my knees to beg her forgiveness, she wouldn’t kill me. Because just the look she had given me was one of hatred. Sh*t. But I needed her. My kingdom needs her to put an end to this centuries long war. She was too strong willed to falter to my charms. I will have to try different methods to get her to do what I want. Because she could definitely kill me. And smile while she did it.
Chapter 1
Aurora POV
I held my books to my chest as I made my way to my next class. I dodged all the other kids running around and a few trying to get my attention.
Namely the boys.
Why they even wanted to talk to me was confusing. I was a nobody in school with a ‘insane’ family according to every single person in my year level.
I had no friends which was just fine for me.
Rushing into the library I went to my usual spot at the far corner of the large space.
Sitting down I opened my new book that I had been waiting for. Opening it up I had to smile at all the pages covered in herbs for healing or herbs for sleep. Just an overall book of different plants to help your body.
It was something that my mum had finally given to me after so many years of me begging to read it. She had made that second of the bookcase out of bounds for some unknown reason.
I zoned out looking at all the recipes and tinctures that I could make with certain herbs when I heard them. Quickly closing the book, shoving it into my bag I pulled out my exam prep book plugging in my headphones.
“Do you think that she is around here?” I rolled my eyes when I could hear Kevin from my year level on the other side of the bookcase. Lately my hearing had been insane. It shocked me for a moment when I woke up hearing my mother laugh from her garden outside when I didn’t usually hear her. It could have been the new tea I made for cognitive boosts.
Possibly.
“Come on. She may be the hottest girl in our class, but she has turned down everyone when they had asked her out. Give it a rest would you” I wanted to smack my head at James. When I had entered year twelve the guys always asked me out or something similar. Coming to the end of the year and closer to graduation meant that they were trying again.
Was I just a game to them now? Bastards. I sighed going through the textbook again trying to ignore them.
“Aurora. Nice to see you” I looked up holding in my groan as James and Kevin stood in front of me looking proud that they had found me alone.
“Hi” I guess I could give some sort of reply to them. I didn’t like how they were looking at me at all either… like a piece of meat that they had cornered.
“You studying for the exams?” I quickly scooted back when Kevin came to sit in front of me grinning.
“I guess. End of school on Friday” I was so f*ck*ng happy about that. Now I just needed to get away from these two and then I could hide for the rest of the day.
“I’m getting there. My parents have hired a private tutor for me so I can pass and get a good grade so I can get into a good university” I nodded looking at the only exit which had James standing keeping watch.
“Private tutor?” I regretted my words as Kevins face lit up at my question.
“Yes. Apparently, I will be able to get into a good university if I get a higher score than what I’m getting now. Its handy coming from good money” I legit saw his chest puff up at that. I held in my laughter as he was preening like a bird would.
“That’s nice. I do need to get back to studying” I gave him a simple yet a clear f*ck off smile.
“Oh, that’s all good. Can I have your number? I just feel it would be nice to text you during the exams if you need any help” I inwardly cringed.
He wasn’t unattractive with his typical Australian sandy blonde hair all curly from the beach near here. His body was tanned from being out in the sun but honestly, he wasn’t doing anything for me.
“Ah. Ok” I couldn’t really say no to those puppy eyes right now. Also, James was currently glaring at me from behind Kevin.
We exchanged numbers. I kept on giving quick glances to James who looked intense for a moment but then calmed down as Kevin turned to look at him.
“Well, I will see you later then” I gave him a small wave as they both ran off leaving me alone again.
“That was very uncomfortable” I chuckled to myself getting back to my book. As soon as the exams were done, and I was out of this school then I would delete and block his number. Maybe change my own number.
I opened another page in my book.
The huge picture of a forest hit me in the chest making my whole body tingle for some reason. I touched the picture feeling warmth shoot through my finger like a warm flame that wrapped around my wrist and travelled up towards my chest.
“More?” I flicked another page showing a snowcapped mountains with a few flowers that I have yet to learn scattered around the base. Touching the page I giggled as the icy feeling went through my finger like the other one and wrapped around my wrist hitting my chest like a freezing breeze.
“What is this?” feeling compelled to do more I turned the page to a river running through with beautiful flowers surrounding it.
Touching it again I felt neither hot nor cold but a buzz of energy surge through me. Looking down at my hand I watched half amazed half freaking out when ribbons on different colour came out to wrap around my wrist forming a thing bracelet.
Found you
“What the bloody hell” I jolted back closing the book.
The bracelet was still around my wrist.
But who was that man that came into my head?
And why did I feel all these energies when I touched different pictures in the book?
I wish I could answer it, but I know that I needed one person that would help me….
I want my mum.
Chapter 2
Unknown POV
“You felt it right? The energy surge that we haven’t felt in almost a thousand years. Where could it be?”
Standing at the edge of the cliff I watched the waves of this realm hit against the rock like a constant agonizing pain that won’t go away no matter how hard you try and get it moving.
“They will be here shortly. Prepare”
“But the energy” the hiss before my hand collided with her face as she fell to the ground.
“The energy can wait. It is not yet fully formed. But our guests cannot” I stepped over her walking back into my castle.
The energy will wait.
Aurora POV
I shivered as I made my way back home in a hurry. The words were still in my head making my whole body shudder in fear.
Kevin had messaged me as soon as school was done to ask if I was wanting to meet up at the beach after school. I declined of course.
Kevin was a nice guy but right now I was low key freaking out to a point that I was about to black
