“I, Logan Carter, Alpha of the Crescent Moon Pack, reject you, Emma Parker of the Crescent Moon Pack.” I could feel my heart breaking. Leon was howling inside me, and I could feel his pain. She was looking right at me, and I could see the pain in her eyes, but she refused to show it. Most wolves fall to their knees from pain. I wanted to fall to my knees and claw at my chest. But she didn’t. She was standing there with her head held high. She took a deep breath and closed her wonderful eyes. “I, Emma Parker of the Crescent Moon Pack, accept your rejection.” When Emma turns 18, she is surprised that her mate is the Alpha of her pack. But her happiness about finding her mate didn't last long. Her mate rejected her for a stronger she-wolf. That she-wolf hates Emma and wants to get rid of her, but that isn't the only thing Emma has to deal with. Emma finds out that she is not an ordinary wolf and that there are people who want to use her. They are dangerous. They will do everything to get what they want. What will Emma do? Will her mate regret rejecting her? Will her mate save her from the people around them?

“Are you going to make this difficult for me?” I had no right to pressure him to accept the rejection when who knows what the hell Curtis was up to. “Are you going to force me to date you?” I felt like ranting. “You have slept with half of the pack and you expect me to believe that you didn’t have some cheap hussy in your life?” My mate frowned, “I slept with a few women. I kept one or two for sexual release but that was all.” He studied my facial expression of disgust. “I have you now so I don’t need them. You will satisfy me in every way and I will do everything to make you happy.” “We are not fairytale characters, and I am not going to be your s*x tool.” I wanted my resistance to be adamant. “There’s no happy ending for us.” “I beg to differ. You are drawn to me just as I am to you.” He smirked as he leaned his jaw on his hand that rested upright with its elbow on the table. Perfectly aware that his touch triggers the magnetic suction of the mate bond, hypnotizing me to get lost into his soul. “How many naughty thoughts have you had about me since I picked you up?” I blushed profusely and took another sip of wine. Clearing my throat and faking coughs. I wasn’t going to answer that. - I thought I had it all figured out. I rejected my destined mate for the love of my high school sweetheart, Curtis. But everything shattered when Curtis met his mate and chose to lie to me instead of rejecting her. With my heart in pieces, I sought solace in the last place I expected—my Alpha's arms. One night turned into a dangerous entanglement, and now my Alpha refuses to let me go. As the Alpha’s obsession grows, I'm caught in a web of desire and fear. Curtis, the boy I once loved, still holds a promise I made, but the Alpha’s powerful presence pulls me deeper into his world. Should I forgive Curtis and keep my word, or should I risk everything for a chance at something wild and unpredictable with the Alpha who won’t take no for an answer?

When I was a child, my grandma used to tell me stories. At the time, I never gave them much thought. Thinking they were just that… stories. Growing up, I soon realized that they weren’t lofty fantasies and fairy tales but memories of her past, memories of our ancestors before our world turned to sh*t. You see, what comes from legend, no matter how exaggerated the story becomes, there is always a sliver of truth. You just need to weed out the fiction from fact. My grandmother used to tell me stories of the Chosen One—the one who would save us all. When I was younger, I used to believe that what she said was true. Eventually, someone would be born, just as the Oracle predicted—someone who could save our souls and bind us back to our magic. Once I grew up and saw the world unfolding around me, I no longer believed in salvation. The chosen one seemed to be more of a prayer than reality. Some dream we wanted desperately to come true. Something in which we needed to find hope when there wasn’t any left. When our ancestors turned their backs on us, how were we expected to believe in this so-called salvation? Especially when all we witnessed was death and carnage ever since the great war. Nothing except pain and poverty. I used to believe the stories and used to pray for the mysterious chosen one that would rid our world of its evil. Now, though, I see it for what it really is, just a dream of hope. Some out of reach fairy-tale. A story to create hope. Hope is dangerous; it makes you believe things will get better. I stopped hanging on to hope when I witnessed firsthand that it caused nothing but heartache.
