Sinopse

To save her five-year-old son from a deadly magic decay known as Aura Starvation, Evie risks everything to sneak across the heavily guarded border of Silver Peak. Her target: a rare, high-altitude flower that grows only on royal land. But when border guards capture her, Evie is thrown into the subterranean dungeons of the terrifying Sovereign Citadel—leaving her dying child alone and freezing in the dark. Enter Alpha Lucian Vane. Six years ago, a wild, masked stranger left him with memories of a chaotic Blood Moon night. Now a formidable, ruthless monarch, Lucian faces a high-stakes political coup: present a legally bound Luna to the High Council in sixteen days, or forfeit his throne to his arch-nemesis, Silas. Determined to survive, Evie makes a desperate gamble: her military secrets about Silas’s faction in exchange for medicine to save her son. But Lucian sees an even grander move on the chessboard. To thwart the Council, he declares the dirty, defiant rogue woman to be his chosen Luna. To keep her son alive, Evie must play the part of a royal bride to the tyrant king she despises. But as Lucian’s powerful Alpha aura instantly heals young Leo, a dangerous question begins to surface beneath the fortress walls: What happens when the fake bride carrying a secret royal heir realizes the ruthless Sovereign holding her captive might actually be her son’s long-lost father?

Chapter 1: The Dying Pack

The bitter midnight wind of the Northern Marches tore through the skeletal trees, carrying the sharp, metallic tang of rain and looming frost. "Hold your breath, baby. Just a little longer," Evelyn Thorne whispered into her five-year-old son’s tangled hair.

She pressed Leo deeper into the muddy hollow beneath a rotted oak tree, wrapping her worn linen cloak around his shuddering frame. His skin was burning, hot enough to scorch through her threadbare gloves, but his lips were turning a faint, terrifying shade of violet.

Aura Starvation, the dark curse of royal shifter bloodlines. Without an Alpha's stabilizing aura to tether his fragile core, Leo’s body was consuming itself from the inside out. His small, delicate lungs wheezed with every shallow breath, the sound breaking what little was left of Evie's heart.

"Mommy..." Leo’s voice was a barely audible rasp, his golden-flecked eyes fluttering open, unfocused and heavy with fever. "The wolves... I hear their paws in the dirt."

"Shh. I know, sweetheart I know." Evie smoothed his damp forehead, her fingers trembling as she fought down the cold, suffocating panic clawing at her throat. "Look at me, Leo. Look at Mommy."

He blinked up at her, his breathing shallow and erratic. The golden flecks in his dark pupils pulsed weakly a fading sign of the royal Alpha blood running through his veins.

"I have to go past the iron fence," she said, her voice dropping to an urgent, steady murmur. "Just across the border stream, the Moon-Drop orchid grows along the high ridge on Silver Peak land and one crushed leaf in your tea will cool your fever until sunrise. Do you understand me? You stay right here and you do not make a sound, no matter what you hear."

"Don't leave me," he whimpered, his small fingers clutching weakly at the frayed cuff of her jacket. "The cold men in black, they'll get you."

"Nobody is getting me," Evie promised, forcing a confident, tender smile she didn't feel. She reached into her tunic, pulled a dull silver locket from beneath her collar, and tucked it gently into his small, feverish palm. "Hold this, if I'm not back before the second moon sets, you run toward the outer river, never go near the Citadel. Swear it to me, Leo."

"I swear," he choked out, squeezing the locket tight against his chest.

Evie kissed his burning forehead, holding her breath as she pulled a screen of dead ferns, fallen bark, and wet mud over the hollow until he was entirely hidden from view. She took a deep breath, pushing her own exhaustion into the dark recesses of her mind. Slipping her silver hunting knife from her boot, she turned toward the massive perimeter fence marking the border of the Silver Peak Sovereign Pack.

The air across the border line felt instantly different, heavy, dense with raw, unfiltered magical energy, and laced with the sharp, ozone scent of high-grade military wards. Silver Peak was the undisputed military empire of the Northern Territories, ruled by cold precision and enforced by elite border patrols who shot unbadged rogues on sight.

Evie crouched low behind a sharp granite boulder, her chest heaving as she watched the sweeping beam of a thermal spotlight cut through the midnight fog. Two guards in heavy tactical armor paced the ridge above, the low hum of their electro-batons echoing through the silent valley.

Every three minutes, the light swings south for forty seconds, she calculated, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. Forty seconds to cross thirty yards of open mud, scale the ten-foot iron wire, and reach the ridge.

She waited, every nerve ending in her body strained to its limit. The spotlight beam hit the granite boulder, lingered for two agonized seconds, and then swung away toward the valley floor. "Now," she breathed.

Evie sprinted and her worn leather boots slapped silently against the damp grass, her body kept low to the dark earth. She reached the perimeter fence in six seconds, jamming her boot into the rusted chain-link and scrambling upward with feral agility. The sharp, barbed wire at the top bit deep into her palms, drawing hot, coppery blood, but she didn't flinch or let out a sound. She cleared the top bar and dropped into the thick brush on the Sovereign side.

She hit the ground hard, rolling into a patch of dark, damp soil right at the base of the ridge. The air here was thick with natural mountain moisture. Above her, hanging precariously from the rocky overhang, three pale white flowers glowed with a faint luminescence under the moonlight Moon-Drop orchids.

"Yes," she sobbed softly, relief washing over her as she reached out her bloodied hand toward the delicate stem.

Clack, the sound of a heavy bolt racking echoed through the quiet forest, cold, metallic, and absolute. "Don't move, rogue," a deep, merciless voice barked from the shadows ahead.

Evie froze, her hand hovering mere inches from the glowing blossom and slowly, the thick mountain fog parted, revealing five fully armored Silver Peak Enforcers stepping out from the dense tree line. Their black assault rifles were raised, aimed directly at her chest, the crimson dots of their laser sights painting dark target markers over her heart.

"Hands behind your head," the lead enforcer commanded, his voice muffled behind an iron tactical mask. "Interlocking fingers. On your knees, now!"

Evie raised her hands slowly, her mind racing at a frantic pace as she sized up the distance between them. "I'm not armed. I'm just gathering herbs—"

"Silence!" The commander stepped forward, his heavy boots crunching the gravel as he unholstered a pair of heavy suppression cuffs. "You are trespassing on Sovereign territory under an active Level-One security lock. Any unbadged shifter found within five miles of the estate is considered a hostile combatant."

"I have a sick child!" Evie cried out, her guarded composure shattering into desperate fragments as she looked back toward the hollow oak tree beyond the perimeter fence. "Please! Just let me take one leaf! Ten minutes, that's all I need, then you can do whatever you want with me!"

"Save it for the interrogator," the commander growled, lunging forward with cold indifference to grab her wrist.

Evie didn't think as instinct took over. She ducked under his heavy reach, swept her leg across his ankles with lethal speed, and drove her elbow directly into his reinforced throat guard. The commander stumbled back with a choked roar of surprise.

"Take her down!" another guard shouted, raising his electro-baton.

Evie spun on her heel, pulling her silver knife and slashing wildly at the nearest enforcer’s rifle strap, forcing him to drop the weapon. She managed to dodge a swinging electro-baton, the electric crackle grazing her shoulder, but a heavy, armored boot slammed directly into her ribs from behind.

She crashed into the mud, the wind knocked from her lungs in an agonized gasp. Pain radiated through her chest, blinding and white-hot. Before she could push herself up, three heavy boots pinned her shoulders and lower back into the dirt, an iron rifle muzzle pressing firmly against the base of her skull.

"Tricky little rat," the commander spat, wiping thick mud from his visor as he stepped back over her. He reached down and grabbed her by her dark hair, yanking her head back violently so she was forced to look into the dark woods beyond the fence. "Check the perimeter! She came from the Marches and search every bush!"

"No!" Evie screamed, thrashing wildly against the crushing weight holding her down. "There's nothing out there! I came alone! I'm alone!"

"Quiet!" The commander shoved a thick leather gag into her mouth, binding her wrists tightly behind her back with cold silver restraints. The anti-shifter metal instantly burned into her skin like white-hot iron, suppressing her inner wolf and sending waves of sickening weakness through her limbs.

Through her blurry, tear-filled vision, she watched two enforcers pull heavy thermal scanners from their tactical vests and move toward the border fence, their boots crunching through the wet brush as they headed straight toward the old oak tree where Leo lay dying.

"Sweeping sector south," one of the guards reported, his thermal screen casting a sickly green glow across his masked face. "Checking root systems and hollows."

Evie pulled frantically at the silver restraints, ignoring the smell of her own burning flesh. Every second felt like an eternity. The green crosshairs on the scanner bounced over the wet grass, nearing the screen of dead ferns.

No, please, Moon Goddess, Evie prayed silently behind her gag, her body trembling with sheer horror. Take me, kill me but just don't let them find my boy.

"Got a faint reading," the second guard called out, pausing just five feet from the hollow tree. "Small heat signature beneath the old oak."

The commander grunted, leaning his weight harder onto Evie’s shattered ribs. "Check it. If it's another rogue, put a round through it."

Evie’s eyes widened in absolute, paralyzing agony. She thrashed against the mud, her muffled screams lost beneath the leather gag as the guard reached his gloved hand toward the ferns hiding her son.

Chapter 2: The Border Arrest

The cold rain began to fall in heavy, relentless sheets, washing the blood from Evie's palms down into her eyes. She pulled frantically at the silver restraints, but the metal only tightened, sending searing shocks of pain through her nervous system.

"Sir!" one of the guards called out from the fence line, swinging his thermal scanner across the muddy bank. "Signatures detected in the brush! Looks like a small heat trail near the old tree line!"

Evie’s heart stopped. No, God, please no, she slammed her boots into the mud, throwing her entire weight to the left and knocking the guard holding her off balance. "Mmmph!" she screamed through the gag, thrashing violently on the ground to draw their attention. "Mmmph!"

"Hold her still!" the commander snapped, backhanding her across the cheek. The force of the blow made her vision flash with red sparks, the taste of metallic blood filling her mouth. "What is wrong with this b*tch? She's trying to distr
