I made a fatal mistake. As the daughter of a mere bakehouse owner, and a scholarship student in campus, I should have known my place and kept my distance. But I grew addicted to the one person I shouldn't want. Ryat Briggs is the s*x-addict rich CEO with a perfect exterior and a complex interior so deep it's haunting. I convinced myself it'd be over after a unexpected one nightstand, but that was a lie that caged me. Now I have to choose between my own peace and his breaking.
Can I Be Your Doll Tonight?
"C'mon, don't be a slowpoke. We're late, Tiffany!" Yvonne's loud voice cut through the house walls from the front porch.
"Easy! It's Halloween, but I still gotta look good for Zach." Tiffany rushed out of the house, excitement tangling with her voice as she shoved her fake vampire fangs and phone into Yvonne's belt bag.
It was the Halloween party at Stanford University, and students were already bursting their stories with how top-tier the party was this year, so Tiffany understood Yvonne's impatience.
Pascal...their third friend was probably waiting at school already.
"C'mon, c'mon!" Yvonne took her hand, dragging her out of the small but beautiful house.
They drove in Yvonne's SUV. Throughout the ride, the girls wouldn't stop checking their phones.
Students weren't sparing any chance to post and share what was going on on campus already. It got them impatient until they finally arrived at school.
It was milling with excited students wearing hideous, scary, and gothic costumes... in all their spookiness.
Creepy tents rose from the ground with scarecrow shapes, and students mingled under them.
The girls quickly fixed their vampire fangs. They were both vampires tonight.
Yvonne went extra, drooling tonic on their chins like real blood.
That completed their looks before they sashayed their way into the crowd of students.
"Hey, vampire girls!" A known voice made them turn to see Pascal, who was dressed like Bluebeard with a large smile on his face.
"Pascal!" Tiffany laughed.
"Katherine Pierce? Rebekah Mikaelson?" He checked them out.
"I'll go for Rebekah. Yvonne fits the Katherine personality better." Tiffany splayed her hair.
"Whatever." Yvonne smiled.
"Hey, you look fabulous in the costume." Tiffany played with Pascal's beard.
"Fabulous?" Yvonne's face squeezed. "He looks hideous."
"That's kinda like the point, right?" Pascal raised his shoulders.
"Don't mind her, she's on her period," Tiffany whispered.
"Knew it," Pascal whispered back.
"Gossiping about me when I'm right here? Petty." Yvonne rolled her eyes.
Tiffany and Pascal leaned on each other as laughter burst from them.
The popping of fireworks in the open night sky caused them to look up, witnessing the beauty together.
"Happy Halloween!!" Their screams synced into the night.
"Have you seen Zach?" Tiffany asked Pascal.
"Nope, not tonight."
"Fanny?" Zach's raspy voice broke into their midst.
"Zachary!" Tiffany rushed to hug him affectionately.
She expected him to steal a kiss like he always did, but he didn't, and that unnerved her.
She broke the hug slowly.
"Hey, man." Pascal smiled at him.
"You're not wearing a costume, Zach." Yvonne checked him out.
"Not my thing," Zach sounded casual.
Tiffany's brows crumpled.
Zach took Halloween seriously every year. He had the scariest costume last year—a grim reaper.
Yvonne and Pascal left them to talk, but they didn't go far.
Tiffany removed her fangs.
"Zachary, what's going on?" She held his face with a hand.
"Let's break up, Fanny," he dropped the bomb unexpectedly.
Tiffany blinked twice, not believing her ears. Her heartbeats rolled fast.
"What are you—"
"I fell out of love with you, and I already have someone else in mind. Let's break up, Tiffany," he rephrased, and her eyes dilated.
He called her full name. Zach never did that.
It was either Fanny or babe.
She was the one who used his full name because she loved it.
Tiffany's hand fell from his face. The fangs fell from her.
"What!"
Tears were already gathering in her eyes.
"You heard me right, Tiffany. This relationship is over," Zach repeated, stepping away from her.
"You shithead!!" Yvonne boomed, rushing back with Pascal.
They've been listening from where they stood.
"How could you! Do you have no conscience? Huh? You fell out of love with her? How was that even a sentence, you mad thing!" Yvonne raised her fist at him, but Pascal got in her way.
"Yvonne, stop it!"
"No, Pascal! Let me deal with this twat! It's not done!!" She yelled, gathering more attention.
The music playing in that part of the tent stopped already, and a noticeable number of students gathered around.
Students who included Lia and Mandy, the baddie best friends who were smiling like they were the happiest people living.
Mandy was Pascal's ex, and she hated Tiffany too much.
It was mutual, though.
Despite Tiffany's tears, Zach didn't to look guilty or apologetic. He stood there, watching her like he had paid to watch her cry.
Tiffany grabbed a bottle of beer from a nearby table. She raised her middle finger despite her teary face.
"F*ck you, Zach Roderick!!"
She downed the beer bottle as she rushed out of the tent.
"Tiffany!!" Pascal and Yvonne went after her, but she was already mixed with the crowd.
They began trying her number, but her phone rang inside Yvonne's bag.
--
Tiffany left school completely, walking along the tarred road with her shoes in her right hand and her beer bottle in her left.
She looked tipsy as she swayed, but the tears were still pouring.
The air swung her hair around her head and face.
She took another swig from the bottle, tears stinging her eyes.
Zach was the brightest law student, and that was the first thing that drew her to him, but when she found out he was also attracted to her, her joy and affection was limitless.
He came from an average family, but she came from a poor family.
Her mother—Stella—owned nothing but a cake shop, and she attended Stanford on a scholarship, but Zach didn't care.
He was the most intentional boyfriend anyone could ever ask for.
He didn't only help her educationally, but also financially and emotionally.
Zach was amazing, but now the amazement was all gone after six months of happiness.
Turned off suddenly like a switch.
Tiffany didn't realize when she arrived at Dumbarton Bridge, but she felt the wind turn colder.
She leaned on the cold rails of the bridge, staring down at the dark water, which had the reflection of the big moon.
The revs of passing cars behind her were a disturbing sound at the back of her mind.
When she tried taking another swig from the bottle, it slipped from her hand into the water below.
She leaned on the rails.
Her tipsiness almost made her slip over, but she was pulled back by strong, capable arms.
The smell of Irish Spring enveloped her nose and lungs, refusing to let go as whoever it was held her safely.
She didn't even care to know who it was or try looking at his face.
She hugged him tightly, and he allowed her.
She just wanted to remain there, on that bridge, and never leave.
No one had told her heartbreak felt this painful. It was her first, and she was losing her sh*t totally.
Her stranger added to her consolation by stroking her hair, and she sniffled, inhaling more of his comforting scent.
Whoever he was, his wife must have been so lucky to be sleeping beside a sweet-smelling man every night.
Wait... his wife!
She quickly broke the hug, wiping her tears with the back of her hand before sniffling.
"Sorry, I was carried away by—"
Her words went back to her throat when she saw the face.
Her eyes widened.
It was the richest investor in this city, the popular man-wh*r* whose doll-hiring story never left the lips of young ladies.
The handsome s*x addict CEO of Catalyst Investments—Ryat Briggs.
"Are you fine now?" He asked worriedly, his voice as soothing as his scent.
Tiffany sniffled again, her eyes ravaging him from his face to his shoes, then back to his face.
There was only one thing that came up in her mind—she needed to feel him more, and she had to.
It wouldn't be free, and she could at least use the money for her mother's struggling cake shop.
She'd blame this on tipsiness later, though she was in her right senses.
She needed this, direly.
She stepped closer, braving up.
"I hear you hire s*x dolls for yourself nightly," she voiced, taking another step closer with a throbbing throat.
"Can I be your doll tonight?"
Morning After
Ryat was shocked at first.
He wasn't expecting the offer from someone who looked as pure and chaste as her, but at the same time, he couldn't reject.
The insane pull he had felt since he saw her crying on that bridge was crazy.
The way his heart had nearly flown away when he thought she was gonna fall into the water, and the way he had rushed out of the car to bring her back to her feet.
Then the heat he had felt when he was consoling her.
All of these were enough to block his chances of declining.
Ryat never declined sex.
He felt heat around ladies since he was addicted to what was in-between their legs, but hers came with dangerous intensity.
He couldn't stop himself from driving her to his penthouse after she offered herself on a platter.
She didn't look shy as she came down from his car with him.
Her feet were still bare, so he was the one who held her shoes in his hand as she stared at the magnificent penthouse with a
