Chapter 1: the cursed wolf

Today was supposed to be the best day of my life, the day I finally left the pack with my mate. Today was my wedding day, but the only difference was that my twin sister was dressed in the beautiful wedding gown I had picked out, and now she was getting married to my mate.

The door to the pack kitchen opened almost immediately, and Madam Abigail, the pack cook, was standing by the door. Her face had this displeased look on it, and the moment she saw the empty cup in my hands, she glared at me and approached.

“Madam, please,” I said tiredly as my voice broke while I held back the tears threatening to pour out of my eyes.

The moment she got to where I was, she grabbed my hand, and all I felt next was a hard smack across my face.

“You wolfless b*tch,” she cursed angrily. “All you had to do for one day was serve the drinks at the wedding. Your father made it pretty clear that you were never to take in anything, but yet you think you can hide in the kitchen and drink like the petty thief you are.”

I held myself from collapsing as the tears blurred my vision and my stomach rumbled loudly. The maid outfit I wore was humiliating enough. Serving drinks to the guests had ruined me, but watching my own mate get married to my sister after rejecting me killed me even more.

“Your father is watching you, Isolde. Don’t keep the guests waiting.”

I said nothing, but my heart burned the most. I hated how miserable I felt and how painful everything had become.

Madam Abigail walked out of the kitchen, and once again I was forced to carry out the drinks and serve the guests.

I could hear the whispers from the pack members as I walked past them, and in pain, I served each of them without looking at any of their faces.

“Isolde,” the deep voice of my father cut across the loud music as I raised my head to look at him.

“Alpha,” I replied calmly, hiding behind the pain as I bent courteously, and now I could feel almost all the pack members watching me.

“Celia wants some drinks,” he said rather coldly.

I said nothing and nodded. The music continued while I approached my sister, who looked so happy, and beside her was the b*st*rd, the monster who had ruined me.

Jace.

Celia was dressed in the most expensive and beautiful wedding gown ever produced by the pack seamstress, and Jace was dressed in a well-tailored suit, his blonde hair perfectly styled back.

Approaching those two people felt like my heart was being ripped apart. First, my own sister was getting married to my mate, and my mate, the lying b*st*rd, got her pregnant while he kept lying to me the whole time about how much he loved me.

I found out Jace was my mate when I was seventeen, and it was the best thing to ever happen to me, or so I thought.

I had known him my whole life. He was my father’s beta’s son, and even though he never spoke more than two words to me since we were little, I was stupid enough to think that the mate bond was enough.

He didn’t mind the fact that I had no wolf. He didn’t care. He loved me fiercely, but still made me keep our relationship a secret.

I could still remember his words just two days ago, the way he kept thrusting in and out of me but suddenly stopped and rejected me. When my father found out, he told him he had already rejected me, and yet I still couldn’t take it and kept throwing myself at him.

That was just two days ago, and I could still remember the hard slap my father gave me after calling me an embarrassment.

Celia kept her gaze on me, the look of disgust fixed all over her face as I approached them.

“This is the drink you asked for.”

She didn’t reply. Instead, she moved a bit closer to Jace, who was now rubbing her back while holding her arm.

“You didn’t congratulate us, sister,” her sharp-edged voice filled my ears.

I forced myself to say nothing as I stared at the b*tch. I hated her so much.

“Look at you, Isolde. What wolf would ever want to be your mate? You are so worthless to think that you’re worthy of being Jace’s mate. Not only are you weak, you’re wolfless and cursed.”

I said nothing but swallowed the pain and agony as I forced out a heavy smile and looked at her.

For the first time since his betrayal, I looked over at Jace, hoping he would say something and stop this torment, but when he looked at me, the man I knew was gone, and the only thing I could see was his total disgust for me.

“Isolde,” Celia’s voice broke me out of my thoughts as I handed her the glass of drink.

I faked a smile, hiding my pain as I looked at them again.

“Congratulations, sister. I hope you have all the good things you’ve ever wished for me.”

Celia’s face twisted in anger, and for the first time, I felt satisfaction within me.

Without waiting for her reply, I turned to walk away. I hadn’t gone far when I heard the commotion behind me.

I turned, and the scene in front of me made me freeze as the horror unfolded.

Celia was being held tightly by Jace, who looked terrified. The glass cup of wine I had given her was shattered on the floor beside her as she clutched tightly to her stomach, groaning in pain.

My father rushed over to her, panic filling his eyes as he grabbed her, but suddenly he turned to me.

“You poisoned your sister,” he said, his voice echoing through the pack hall.

Chapter 2 : good as dead

“I didn’t do it, Papa. I didn’t poison her,” I cried loudly when the pack guards gripped my arms tightly and pulled me away.

The wedding had ended in disaster, and the best part of it was that my father didn’t hit me or throw me into a f*ck*ng dungeon like he always did. Instead, he told them to lock me in my room.

The weather had been gloomy all day, and I had been locked inside for two days without food or water.

The door to my room was suddenly pulled open, and when I looked, it was the same guards that had pushed me in, but before I could say anything, I was being dragged away.

My father sat in the dining room of his chambers when I was brought in. The moment he saw me, the first thing he did was cast a look of disgust in my direction.

My sister was just by the right side, her face calm and peaceful. She didn’t look like someone who had been poisoned, and beside her were the beta, the gamma, and Jace.
