“Emilia will be betrothed to Damian and not you. You have no right since you’re not our real daughter,” Alpha Joseph said. Alodia could not believe it. What she had thought was a celebration—a grand party meant for the entire pack to enjoy—had in truth been a carefully staged spectacle. A stage prepared not for joy, but for humiliation, revelation, and exile. It was here, beneath the glittering chandeliers of the Nighthowl Pack’s grand hall, that her parents chose to tell her the truth: She was never truly their daughter. And not only that, she was expected to step aside and return what was never meant to be hers in the first place: Damian’s chosen mate. “From today onward,” Alpha Joseph declared, his voice carrying easily across the hall, sharp and resolute, “you are no longer part of this family.” Alodia said nothing, and then turned. With every step toward the exit, she carried no visible anger. Only a silent promise burning beneath her ribs— She would not return as the girl they rejected. And when they met again— She would no longer be Alodia who needed their acceptance. She would be someone they would have to reckon with.

Chapter 1 Breaking the family bond

“Emilia will be betrothed to Damian and not you. You have no right since you’re not our real daughter,” Alpha Joseph said.

Alodia could not believe it.

What she had thought was a celebration—a grand party meant for the entire pack to enjoy—had in truth been a carefully staged spectacle. A stage prepared not for joy, but for humiliation, revelation, and exile.

It was here, beneath the glittering chandeliers of the Nighthowl Pack’s grand hall, that her parents chose to tell her the truth:

She was never truly their daughter.

And not only that, she was expected to step aside and return what was never meant to be hers in the first place: Damian’s chosen mate.

Damian is the heir of the Red Moon Pack. The future Alpha she had personally cared for when he was broken—when he could not walk, when pride and power had been stripped from him. For two years, she stayed at his side. She prepared his medicine. Helped him through physical therapy. Endured his temper. Encouraged his wolf.

And when he finally stood on his own two feet again—

He chose Emilia.

He chose her to be his Luna, making this spectacle happen.

In the center of the grand hall of the Nighthowl Pack, Alodia stood alone.

The cold, assessing gazes of the Alpha family were fixed on her. Around them, the pack members whispered openly now. Some eyes were curious. Others were openly disdainful.

She could feel it—the shift.

Like prey surrounded by wolves.

“From today onward,” Alpha Joseph declared, his voice carrying easily across the hall, sharp and resolute, “you are no longer part of this family.”

There was no tremor in his tone. No hesitation.

As he spoke, he held up documents—her identification papers and the official entry from the pack family registry. A bold annotation had already been stamped across it.

Disowned.

Just like that.

Two years.

She spent two years trying to earn the right to the surname they gave her.

She woke before dawn to assist the omegas in the kitchen and infirmary. She endured every cutting remark from Emilia without protest. She smiled through gatherings where she was introduced as their weak daughter. She accepted that she would never be treated as equal to her two older brothers.

When they returned from patrol exhausted, she brewed restorative tonics infused with rare herbs—mixtures specifically chosen to soothe both body and wolf.

Perfected blends that strengthened wolf stamina.

She made herself useful.

She made herself small.

But now—

With a single declaration—

She was erased.

“Head Omega,” Luna Sheila commanded coolly, “state the expenses we incurred for her.”

The head omega stepped forward, clutching a leather-bound ledger. Her movements were cautious, almost fearful, as though one misstep would cost her position.

“Over the past two years,” she announced formally, “the total expense for Miss Alodia amounts to… two thousand four hundred dollars.”

A wave of murmurs swept through the hall.

“Two thousand four hundred?” Luna Sheila repeated, incredulous. “That’s it?”

Alodia remained silent.

She wasn’t surprised.

She knew every cent spent on her because she had made sure not to become a burden. The family had given her a monthly allowance of $100, arguing that she lived in the packhouse anyway. Her meals, clothing, and necessities were supposedly covered.

“Then where did the rest of the money go?” her second brother demanded coldly.

Only then did Alodia lift her gaze.

“What do you mean?” she asked calmly, though part of her wanted to say, Are you seriously asking? Didn’t you hand it all to Emilia?

But she held her tongue.

“Emilia receives thirty thousand dollars monthly,” her brother continued. “How is it that you only received a hundred?”

A stillness fell.

“Didn’t Emilia tell you?” Alodia asked quietly. “She’s been taking my allowance. That hundred dollars was what she left for me.”

All eyes turned to Emilia.

Emilia sighed dramatically. “I was holding it for her,” she said smoothly. “She grew up in the countryside. I thought she wouldn’t know how to manage money properly. Who knows where she might waste it?”

“There’s logic in that,” Luna Sheila interjected.

A soft laugh escaped Alodia.

It wasn’t hysterical.

It wasn’t loud.

But it echoed.

“Since you’re leaving the pack anyway,” Emilia added with a smirk, “it’s better the money stayed with me. You only need to repay the $2,400.”

“Every month, we sent money while you were in the countryside,” Luna Sheila pressed. “Don’t tell me you expect us to believe you didn’t use it.”

For a moment, Alodia said nothing.

Then slowly, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a small wallet. From it, she retrieved an ATM card.

“Here,” she said. “Nanny didn’t touch a single cent.”

The hall fell silent.

“You may verify the bank records,” she continued, her voice steady. “The money is still there.”

Alpha Joseph frowned. “Explain.”

“We never used it," Alodia replied. Back in the countryside, she was wondering why her nanny needed to do some work. As she grew up, her nanny told her that her instinct was not to use the money her parents sent them.

'It's a good thing Nanny's instinct is always sharp,' Alodia thought.

Verification was ordered immediately.

Minutes passed like hours.

When the results came back, the messenger’s voice trembled.

“Alpha… the total deposits over the years amount to thirty-five thousand dollars. The balance remains untouched.”

The air turned heavy.

“Impossible,” Emilia whispered.

But it was true.

Every gaze in the hall locked onto Alodia, waiting for an explanation, but Alodia just kept quiet.

Because long ago, she had learned—

Those who refuse to listen will never understand.

“Regardless,” Alpha Joseph said, though a faint crack had entered his voice, “you are not our blood. And this family owes you nothing.”

“Wait,” Luna Sheila cut in sharply. “She must repay every expense from the day she arrived here two years ago.”

Alodia merely shook her head.

Then she pulled out another ATM card and handed it to Luna Sheila.

“There’s one million dollars on that card,” she said evenly. “The PIN is six zeros.”

The hall erupted in laughter.

No one believed her.

“You may verify that as well,” she added, her expression unmoved.

“And where exactly would you get that kind of money?” Emilia mocked.

Alodia’s eyes turned cold.

“I have no obligation to explain anything to you,” she replied sharply. “My number will remain active until noon tomorrow. If the card is empty, feel free to call me.”

A pause.

“Now,” she continued, “I don’t owe you anything either.”

From the long brown envelope she had been holding all along, she withdrew a document.

“A severance agreement,” she announced calmly. “Effective immediately. I relinquish all claims to the Alpha family of the Nighthowl Pack.”

It was a legal document acknowledged not just by werewolves like them but also in human territories and legal matters.

Shock rippled through the hall.

There were no tears in Alodia's eyes as she signed. Her hand did not tremble, her back remained straight, and her chin lifted—not in arrogance, but in quiet resolve.

They did not understand.

Her silence was not a weakness.

Her departure was not a defeat.

Severing ties was not surrender—

It was preparation.

She handed the signed document to Alpha Joseph.

"Sign it," Alodia said, and without blinking an eye, the Alpha signed his name.

“At this moment,” Alodia pauses, “we are strangers.”

"You're so arrogant," Alpha Joseph said.

Alodia said nothing, and then turned. With every step toward the exit, she carried no visible anger.

Only a silent promise burning beneath her ribs—

She would not return as the girl they rejected.

And when they met again—

She would no longer be Alodia, who needed their acceptance.

She would be someone they would have to reckon with.

Chapter 2 Hidden Valley Pack

The first light of morning slowly slipped through the tall windows of the packhouse of the Hidden Valley Pack.

Soft golden rays filtered through the glass and spread across the quiet living room, gradually illuminating the humble space.

The room was simple—far simpler than the grand packhouses owned by powerful packs.

A sturdy wooden sofa sat near the center, its cushions slightly worn but carefully maintained. Beneath it lay an old but clean carpet that had clearly seen many years of use. In the corner stood a small stone fireplace, its ashes still faintly warm from the fire burned the night before.

Despite its simplicity, the room carried a quiet warmth.

It felt… lived in.

It felt like a home.

Something Alodia had not felt for a very long time.

She stood in the middle of the living room, her slender figure motionless except for the faint rise and fall of her chest. Her fingers g
