Chapter 1 The Alpha’s Disgraced Child
Chapter 1
POA Meek
Hello, I am Meek. You’ve probably never heard of me. I’m the boring girl in the library or sitting across from you in class. The one you saw walking down the hallway and thought She is so pretty. She must have the most amazing life with her filthy-rich father and her enormous castle. Not to mention those handsome brothers, of hers that have their own flocks of girls that follow them around and do their bidding.
I’m here to tell you, you are so wrong. I would do absolutely anything to be in your shoes. To drive your car and to have your family.
Let’s start with my 18 birthday. I never shifted. I bet you shifted, and you turned into one of those amazing wolves or dragons. Your parents threw you a party, and you and your wolf got to know each other.
My father threw me in the dungeon and called me wolf-less. My older brother King flipped out and tried to convince my father I deserve better. Well, father being the most fear violent son of a b*tch Alpha out there. Thought my brother was in the wrong. He beat him so badly he ended up in the ICU barely holding on.
He didn’t even visit him once. However, he was kind enough to let King move back into the house when he somehow miraculously survived.
I eventually served my three months in the god-awful smelling dungeon and now live in the pack house as a full-time servant in the kitchen, not too shabby if you ask me.
But wait, it gets better. I bet your mom is alive and kicking, making you apple pie, and serving up nice yummy meals. Well, the rumour is my father killed my mom. Women being so useless and all.
Still want to escape your life and live mine? I bet you thinking twice about it now. Did I mention my brother King is the only reason I’m still alive? He beats anyone senseless if they lay a hand on me and hides me from father. However, Father feels it is time to send King to the royal academy for four years to prepare him to one day take over as alpha.
Which leaves little old me alone with my father. Do you think I’ll survive?
I’m working in the kitchen when Emily asks me to bring a hot chocolate to a visitor.
I check myself in the mirror to make sure I’m presentable. My long, raven, wavy hair is mostly tied back, except for a few strands. My crystal blue eyes are free of gunk. I noticed some dirt on my face and washed my face. Now I’m back to my porcelain doll white skin look, like I’m half vampire. My hands are dainty, and I have high cheekbones, a perfectly round face and an hourglass figure like my mother. I’ve always worked in the background. This will be my first time serving an item in person.
“It’s the table with all the kids. The lycan king’s brother Chris. He is here to chat with Lucius.” Emily, the head of the kitchen, points him out to me.
I start to feel short of breath and get shaky.
“Lucius, my father is sitting with them?”
“No, Chris is meeting Lucius after he eats lunch. Relax Meek.”
The whole pack knows I’m Lucius’ daughter, but no one dares speak it out loud.
I take a few steps carrying the hot chocolate. I instantly get nervous and come back.
“Stand up straight, Meek, speak politely, no side chat, you can do this.” Emily shoves me out the door. I almost spill the hot chocolate. I can feel all the kitchen staff watching me and taking bets on whether I’ll fall flat on my face and embarrass myself.
I make it to the table. When my father walks in. I start to panic and shake, and a small voice in my head says. “Breathe” I take a few deep breaths and ignore my father’s presence and ask whose hot chocolate it is.
A young child puts up his or her hand, and I smile and hand them their hot chocolate. I go to walk away when Chris grabs my hand and looks me dead in the eyes. He has deep brown eyes, and his face is ordinary, with small freckles and short brown hair. You would never know he was the brother of a king.
“Your wolf has beautiful golden eyes. Everything about you is so perfect and delicate. Are you really a servant? Would you like to come work for me? I could pay you five times what you’re making now. Maybe even find you a husband. Please say yes.”
Before I can respond. My father steps in. “She is my personal servant. She won’t be going anywhere.”
“Really? She looks so much like you. Is she any relation to you? Your hair is the same color, and so are your wolves’ eyes. A stunning golden color. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
My father goes red in the face and clutches his fist. Chris being the Lycan king’s brother. He knows killing him would not go over well.
Father glares at me. I quickly pull my wrist away and walk very fast out of the room, almost tripping once over an empty chair.
The staff do a quiet cheer for my performance and giggle.
“Laugh it up all you want, guys. He will be coming for one of you the instant Chris is gone. Better get your affairs in order.”
The staff start to panic.
Chapter 2 Breathe
POV Meek
I return to the dishes. Well, it looks that way. But really, I’m just playing with the soap bubbles, singing a Disney song in my head.
Father sneaks up behind me.
“Meek, my office, now!” I feel cold, like a dark shadow has been cast over me, and my body trembles uncontrollably.
I stand for a moment, trying to catch my breath. Then, I start walking slowly to his office. All the worst-case scenarios pop into my head. Is he going to kill me? Will he throw me in the dungeon again? Is this it for me? I walk in, and he is sitting at his desk.
“Sit!”
I practically fall into the chair, almost missing it entirely. I put my hand on his desk to straighten myself out.
He leans forward. I can feel his breath on my face. “Do you want to explain what happened earlier?”
“I was asked to bring a hot chocolate to Chris’s table.”
“Don’t play games with me, Meek. Why on earth would you try to pretend to have my wolf’s eyes?”
“I’m sor
