Rise Of The Rejected Luna

Luna’s POV

“Hey, I can’t do this anymore,” Rylan shouted in anger at me, his wolf-less mate. He was frustrated with the fact that his betrothed mate had no wolf. "I don't think we're meant to be mates. This must definitely be a mistake" he continued

"What are you talking about, Rylan? We've been mated to each other since birth and we've been through everything together" I screamed out, clutching my chest to erase the heart wrenching pain.

Rylan scoffed, staring at me with disdain "that's exactly what I'm trying to point out, Luna. Us being together has shown me how weak you are. You can't match up to me or the pack. I need a strong mate to fight by my side"

"Did you just call me weak? I've fought as hard as I can just to satisfy you and everyone" I retorted with a cracked voice. "Haven't you seen my efforts?"

"I have but your efforts is not strong enough and has yield no positive results. I want a mate who wouldn't hold me back. You will only be an hindrance to my role as an alpha. I can't take any chances" Rylan rejected me coldly and turned his back against me to hide the guilt etched on his face.

It was all for the best. He tried to convince himself as he walked away

"Rylan!! Please, you can't do this. Please.... Rylan!!!!" I screamed in extreme agony, hoping in my heart he would turn to look at me and reverse all the hurtful words he had said but my hopes wasn't nothing but an illusion. I could only watch as his figure merged with the darkness.

I Luna Hart had been betrothed to Rylan the moment I was born. My father was an Alpha of the pack but he was kicked out at the end. My father, Kellan, was betrayed by the people he trusted and coincidentally, there was a rebellion against him. He was exiled and the family of Rylan took the throne. The first Alpha was Rylan’s father and Rylan took the position after his father’s death.

But one thing never changed. It was the fact that I would be the mate of Rylan. Since the elders noticed how beautiful I was even as a kid, the elders believed that such a gorgeous girl was befitting of the alpha.

But I had no wolf.

“The alpha has ordered to bring you to elders’ hall, milady,” Maya, the fierce second in command to Rylan said firmly. “You would need to follow me immediately.”

I could feel the energy oozing out of Maya. I could tell that she was up to no good. Rylan had never called me to the hall before. Regardless, I decided to follow Maya. All through, I tried my very best to be calm.

As I entered the hall, I could not feel a tensed environment. This makes me relax a little but it turned out that Rylan had no raised the issue why he summoned me to the elders. I looked around , waiting anxiously for the unknown. I was in the middle of the hall and there were elders at my right and left. The only female in the room apart from me was Maya.

“I summoned Luna here to the hall to inform the elders about my decision to reject her as my mate…” Rylan said smoothly. It was obvious to me that he found it difficult to say, he must have practiced it for hours. He put on a smile to show his conviction.

I was not shocked. With the frequent arguments I had with Rylan recently, I saw it coming. Still, I couldn’t help but feel weak. I could not control my tears. I didn’t make any noise at all but my tears continued flowing.

Rylan saw my tears and felt defeated. All of his resolve weakened since he still loved me. He felt like stopping his actions but he knew he had gone too far already. He took his eyes off me and looked at the elders instead. Eleanor, the wisest elder of the pack knew a lot about the relationship between Rylan and I. However, Eleanor didn’t know the exact reason why Rylan would take such action.

“May I ask about your motivation, my lord?” Eleanor asked carefully. “This is not the first time men would reject their mates. Several alphas have done it as well. However, I wish to ask or I think we all need to know the reason. An alpha is not a normal man, he deserves to be accountable.”

Rylan had seen it coming too. He planned it all with Maya and she already told him the questions which Eleanor would probably ask him. He had been prepared for it all.

“Both of us can’t be together,” Rylan replied coldly. “We were never meant to be. We have differences and less similarities which I presume is disadvantageous to our life together.”

“It is widely known that their relationship isn’t great!” Maya exclaimed, coming to the rescue of her alpha. “They have never shared a bed together and that is enough reason already.”

“But…” Eleanor tried.

“She has no wolf!” Rylan shouted. He had planned to save my dignity by not talking about my wolf-less self but he could not control himself. He was frustrated and this was the best excuse he could give them. All the elders looked at me instantly as if they have never noticed.

“I must have committed a big crime…” I smiled. I was going to put on my hysterical self. “To you, I, having no wolf means it is my fault. It means I am weak. It means I am useless, right?”

“Yes!” Rylan affirmed. That moment, he had cut my heart into pieces. I gazed at him with my smile disappearing from my face. I took a deep breath after.

“I accept your rejection,” I replied with a shaky voice. “I will leave you and this pack but trust me, I’ll come back and when I do, I will…”

Maya rushed towards me pointing a sword at my neck.

“You are no longer the alpha’s mate. Now, you are an ordinary pack member,” Maya said to me firmly. “If you want to leave this mansion in peace, shut your mouth. If you say another word, you will be thrown in the prison where you’ll spend the rest of your life.”

“No, Maya,” I replied, with a smile on my face. “Rylan is a weakling to think that I am too weak for him. When I come back, I will pay you back as well, Maya.”

After saying this, I pushed Maya away and left the hall. Maya was enraged and she tried following me for revenge.

“Stop!” Rylan ordered. “Let Luna go. That would be the last favor I would do for her. Next time, you are free to show her no mercy.”

Luna’s POV

After being thrown out of the mansion, I was nothing but homeless. There was no place for me to return to. I had been born in the alpha’s mansion to my father, the alpha during that period. Now, my father is in exile and my mother is dead. I’m an only child and I have no extended family to stay with.

I continued walking with no destination in mind.

“Lady Luna!” someone called out for me. I turned back and I could see a young boy running towards me. He looked really young but from the way he ran towards me, I could tell he was athletic. The young boy reached me in no time with a satisfied smile on his face. He had a bag with him.

“Who are you?” I asked carefully. I was far from the alpha’s mansion already but since the boy addressed me as ‘lady’, he had to be from the mansion.
