Chapter 1 NIGHT PERILS
*Ancient Greece, Fangoria Kingdom (20 years ago)*
Queen Lyra fled into the forest, clutching her newborn daughter. Pursued by her husband's werewolf pack, she prayed silently, hoping Freya wouldn't cry out and reveal their hiding spot. "Oh heavens, protect us," Lyra whispered, hearing footsteps approach.
"Give up, my lovely queen," her husband's voice echoed. "End your suffering." Lyra gritted her teeth. "That b*st*rd betrayed me."
The Alpha's command followed: "Find her! Kill her!" Lyra recognized the crackling of bones and screams, signaling the pack's transformation.
She immediately knew it was dangerous to wait any further as they were already in their werewolf form and will find her with just her scent and immediately started to run with no directions in mind said.
Exhausted and desperate, Lyra stumbled upon a humble hut, its warm glow a beacon in the darkness. Summoning her last ounce of strength, she pounded on the door. "Please, help me!" she begged.
The door creaked open, revealing an aged woman with piercing eyes. "What brings you here, child?" she asked softly, her gaze fixed on the sleeping infant in Lyra's arms. Lyra's words tumbled out in a panicked whisper.
"The Alpha's hunters...they're after me..." The old woman's expression turned stern, and she yanked Lyra inside. "Silence!" she commanded, shutting the door. "Hide in the basement. Now." The old woman confronted the approaching werewolves, her eyes flashing red in defiance. "Leave while you still can," she warned, her voice echoing through the forest.
The hunters snarled refusing to back down The lead hunter, his eyes blazing with malice, stepped forward. "Witch of Gidon, surrender the fugitive!" The old woman stood unwavering, her expression serene. "Did you not hear?" another hunter snarled.
"Bring her out!" The pack nodded, but the old woman's tranquil demeanor remained unbroken. "Enter at your own peril," she warned, her voice resonating through the forest.
The hunters hesitated, cowed by her unwavering conviction. The leader growled, "You dare defy the Fangoria kingdom?" The old woman's eyes blazed red, illuminating the darkening forest. "You dare cross sacred boundaries?" she thundered, her voice shaking the trees.
Birds fled their nests as the forest trembled. The hunters retreated, cowed. "Return to your Alpha," the old woman commanded, "and warn him of impending doom." With that, she vanished into her hut, leaving the hunters bathed in fearful uncertainty.
In the basement, Lyra emerged from the darkness, her eyes scanning the room for danger. The old woman smiled warmly. "You're safe now, child." "What's your daughter's name?" she asked, gently touching the baby's cheek. Lyra's voice cracked. "I...I haven't named her yet." "I'll call her Freya," the old woman said, her eyes twinkling. "Welcome to my home." For the first time in months, Lyra felt a glimmer of peace.
PRESENT DAY SILIVERFANG KINGDOM
The grand hall echoed with thunderous applause as Kane, the newly crowned Alpha, strode confidently toward the throne.
Golden light danced across his chiseled features, illuminating the triumphant smile spreading across his face. The elders rose, their dignified faces bowed in reverence. "All hail the Alpha!" the herald's booming voice resonated, accompanied by the triumphant blast of trumpets and the crashing of cymbals.
A discordant note pierced the air. The aged shaman, his eyes blazing with ancient wisdom, stood tall, his staff crackling with mystical energy. "Your ascension is premature, young Kane!" the shaman's voice thundered, silencing the celebration. "You have not earned the right to claim the throne of your fathers!
" Kane's smile faltered. "I've been coronated," he protested, uncertainty creeping into his voice. The shaman's gaze pierced Kane's confidence. "Your father fell defending our kingdom. Yet, you revel in the midst of sorrow. Find the assassin stalking our shadows, or give up the throne of your fathers!"
The elders exchanged uneasy glances. One ventured, "Wise shaman, how can we uncover the killer?" The shaman's staff struck the ground, sending shivers through the assembly.
"Three months, Kane. Find justice, or surrender your claim. The countdown begins now!" With that, the shaman vanished into the darkness, leaving Kane to ponder the weight of his newfound responsibility. Kane sat alone, lost in thought within his private chambers.
"To truly reign, I must find my Luna," he whispered. Lykon, his loyal Beta, entered quietly. "Sir?" he said, gently tapping Kane's shoulder.
Kane flinched, his eyes snapping back into focus. "What brings you here, Lykon?" "You seemed troubled," Lykon replied, sitting beside him. "The mission weighs heavily on your mind, doesn't it?" Kane sighed. "Finding the assassin is crucial, but finding my Luna feels impossible. How can I claim my throne without my mate by my side?" Lykon's expression turned thoughtful. "The kingdom's walls won't reveal the answers, sir.
" Kane's eyebrows furrowed. "What do you suggest?" Lykon's cunning smile spread. "Leave the kingdom, Alpha. Venture into the unknown. Destiny awaits.
" Kane's body tensed, fear and excitement coursing through his veins. "Are you certain?" Lykon nodded. "The prophecy, the mission, and your Luna – all await beyond these walls.
" Lykon's smile masked his true intentions. "And once you leave, I will rule," he thought, his eyes glinting with malice, a silent, evil laughter spreading across his face.
Chapter 2 THE BEGINNING OF DESTINY
CHAPTER TWO FANGORIA KINGDOM
"Leave the kingdom?" Kane exclaimed, his voice laced with incredulity. "How am I supposed to do that?" "Yes, my lord," Lykon replied, his tone unwavering. "But, I must caution you, your mother and the elders will not take kindly to this proposal."
Kane rose from his chair, his eyes drifting toward the window as he contemplated the impossible task.
"I fear you may be right, Lykon. But staying within these walls will not yield the answers I seek.
" Lykon took a step forward, his voice tinged with urgency. "Time is of the essence, my lord. Every passing day brings us closer to... unforeseen consequences."
Kane's gaze snapped back to Lykon, his mind racing with the weight of his decision. "I will need someone to accompany me on this journey," he declared, his eyes locking onto Lykon.
But to Kane's surprise, Lykon's expression turned hesitant. "My lord, I—" "You will come with me, Lykon," Kane said, his tone firm. Lykon's r
