At nineteen, Ava had endured more pain than any teenager in her pack. One night she witnessed her mother’s murder at the hands of her drunken stepfather. With nothing left to lose, Ava makes a daring move that shocks even the most ruthless Alpha in the kingdom. Scott, the feared and cursed Alpha King who is nicknamed ‘The Devil’, needs a virgin to bear him an heir or risk losing his throne forever. So, when Ava walks into his den offering the one thing that could save him, in exchange for wealth and power, he takes the deal, even though he was disgusted by her fragile appearance and weakness. What started as a simple transaction spirals into a storm of heated glances, cruel words, and unbearable tension. But when Scott broke his part of the deal and even planned to have her banished after the birth of his son, Ava vanished with her unborn son with her. Years later when their paths meet again, Scott sees a woman who is stronger, fearless, and unwilling to forgive. He is ready to fight fate to reclaim his family, but someone else who is far stronger than Scott wants her… and he’ll stop at nothing to claim her and the power growing inside her son. Will the Devil reclaim his mate—or lose her forever to a far darker fate? Will love be enough to save them all, or will one life be taken to preserve the others?
A miserable life
Ava's point of view My heart skipped in fear when I heard the sudden sound of yelling and banging coming from inside the house. BANG! CRASH! A plate shattered, followed by a glass and then the thud of furniture being kicked aside. THUMP! THUMP! “You are so worthless!” Hugo roared. Hugo, my always drunk, always angry stepfather. I stood there on the porch, frozen. My fingers curled into fists at my sides, my nails were biting into my skin. The noise inside did not stop, instead, it grew louder, it became more violent. I could hear my mother crying and my heart broke into tiny pieces. I heard another crash followed by a grunt and the sound of something heavy hitting the floor. I sighed a deep, long and exhausted sigh. I was tired of this miserable life. Tired of the hell my mother and I were forced to live every single day. We worked ourselves raw, barely able to breathe by the time the sun set, just to put food on the table… food he devoured with no gratitude, no shame, and definitely no contribution. And yet somehow, we were the useless ones. In all my nineteen years, I had never for once seen Hugo lift a d*mn finger to work. Unless drowning in cheap liquor counted as labor. I didn’t even know who my real father was. I had no friends. No one wanted anything to do with me, the omega girl who still hadn’t shifted. Yep, nineteen years old me, and not even a trace of a wolf inside of me. Pathetic, right? I was the joke of the entire pack. A born werewolf who might as well be human. And to make matters worse, I was the girl who threw out everyone’s trash. Literally, I cleaned scraps, swept dirt and scrubbed things no one else dared to touch. It was the only way I could assist mom. I didn’t mind the grime under my nails, the reek of garbage on my clothes, or how I looked like the dirt itself. If it fed us, I did it. But the names still stung. “Omega dirt.” “Waffles mutt.” “Shame of the pack.” Pitiable right. My life was miserable. And I had zero control over any of it. It was just like I had been born just to suffer. Just last week, mom had been very sick. And while she was curled in bed, burning up with fever, I had become Hugo’s new punching bag, for his words, his rage, and something worse. FLASHBACK The thunder was striking, heavy rain was falling at the moment, and the weather was extremely cold. Hugo slammed on the door heavily. "Open the door, you little brat." "Answer me or I'm breaking in," he yelled behind the door. I shivered in fear as I stood up and opened the door. He slapped my face immediately. "Ouch," I winced in pain. "What took you so long, huh?" he hit me again. "Don't you ever keep me waiting," he added another slap. "Now go out there and make me some money since your worthless mother is pretending to be sick," his voice echoed in my ears, cold and cruel. "But….., it is raining heavily," I stammered as he hit me again. "Go out and make money," he yelled at me harshly. "I don't care how you do it, but you must not come back home empty-handed, or else your mother will get it from me." I couldn't help but go out into that heavy rain. God knew if I could shift,I would have clawed out his throat, but I was nothing but a weak omega. Deep down in my mind, I was praying for a miracle , to see some cash lying on the floor, just to save myself and my mother from hell. I started walking in the heavy rain. There was nobody on the street at all. Everyone was probably at home, enjoying the cozy weather. I walked round a corner and saw a group of people standing under a canopy. "Please help me, I need to eat," I said with tears flowing down my cheeks. God! It was too humiliating. They turned towards me, and I could see I just chatted with the wrong people. They were gangsters. "Huh, you really need money?" one asked. "You aren't bad actually. If you can just offer me your body for a night," he chuckled. "No, I won't offer you my body. Just give me money," I pleaded. "Give me your p*ssy," he mimicked me as the gang laughed out loud. "You will be sweet to have fun with," he smirked. "Oh, please, I'm nothing but a worthless girl. Just spare me any penny you have," I said. I couldn't believe I just called myself ‘worthless’ but what else could I have said to make them have pity on me. He reached his hand towards my chest, and I slapped it away. I knew going home empty-handed meant a death torture for me and my mom, but giving myself to these low life would be the last thing I would do. "You little punk, how dare you push my hand away," he yelled at me. "I will do that again if you pass your boundaries," I said, shocked at my confidence. “Oh Ava, you shouldn't make them angry,” my inner mind cried within me. “You need their help,so play along.” "It's your confidence for me," one of the men scoffed. "Oh, please, can someone warn this beggar before I descend on her," he yelled as my eyes kept tracing his wallet, and finally, I got it. I dipped my hand in his pocket and ran off. "Hey, you little thief," he yelled. "Get her," all of his gang started running towards me. I started getting tired and began to pant heavily. I entered into a dustbin, hiding myself in there. "Where did she run to?" they asked among themselves. "Hey, you go there, and you there," he directed as they all dispersed from the dustbin. I peeped and looked around to see if they were gone and came outside. I immediately hurried home, smelling like trash. I banged the door hard. "Father, please open the door," I screamed in fear so those gangsters wouldn't come get me. I heard their voices coming closer. I hurriedly entered, locked the door and switched off the light. I panted in and out. "You are safe now Ava," I whispered to myself. I brought out the wallet and counted the dollars I collected. It was huge. I guess they were more than gangsters, they were also thieves. I wanted to hide some money so I could get some medication for my mother but then Hugo walked in. "Uhhmm," he cleared his throat, switching on the light. "Where have you been, you worthless omega?" he yelled. "Answer me," he bellowed. "You sent me out to get money, which I did," I replied to him. "Then where is the money, huh?" he uttered, unbuckling his belt. "Here you go, father," I quickly handed it over to him to avoid getting hurt. "This is not enough," he angrily staid as he counted the money with open eyes. "I need more money. This can't feed you and your mother." he said, even though we both knew he wouldn't drop a dime for me and my mother. “Why do you smell like trash?" he yelled as he looked at me from my head to toe. And then, he started to scold me for smelling like trash. I quickly walked away from him. "Make sure I don't wake you up tomorrow morning, so you won't regret it," he yelled as I walked away END OF FLASHBACK I wiped the tears dripping from my eyes away and looked around. Something was not right. “Why is no sound coming from inside?”
A cursed life
Scott's point of view I was sweating like a mad man running like an enraged animal, searching for the Moon Goddess like my life depended on it. Well, it did. "Where is the Moon Goddess?" I yelled into the air. "The only way you can be free is to have a virgin bear you an heir," The words kept echoing in my head and I growled. I grabbed my chest and took deep breaths before releasing it, coughing loudly. "Are you alright , Alpha?" a voice sounded from behind the door. I didn't reply. I stood up, went straight to the mini kitchen in my room, took a packet of cigars, lit one, and put it in my mouth, and then I went to the balcony. "Oh, God, this has to stop," I growled in anger. I am a mighty Alpha, feared by everyone in the land, but deep down, I am facing a lot. These dreams... I cursed under my breath. I angrily took another cigar, lit it up, and smoked it roughly. FLASHBACK It was late at night, and I overheard my dad talking about something.
