Chapter 1
“Please, I beg you, don’t do this to me.” I stammer out, my voice cracking.
The room is full of elders from Moonstone Pack and they stare at me like I’m some kind of disgusting sh*t stuck under their shoe.
“Please let me stay. I’ll do whatever I can,” I beg again, but deep down I know it’s all in vain. There’s no point. The elders have already decided to reject me from this pack.
I don’t know where to go. I’m still human and I haven’t awakened my wolf yet. I know this is coming but I still can’t accept it. This is where I am born. This is my home. Yeah, thinking about it, this was my home.
There’s no way it’s mine now.
After my father died, I’ve never felt at home. Merline was never kind to me, even after marrying my father. She didn’t even care that I was her older sister’s daughter. She didn’t care that I was an innocent child.
Suddenly, I hear heavy footsteps coming from the staircase. I know exactly who it is because I get kicked by those shoes every day. My mate, Alpha Lucas. The one who is supposed to protect me from harm and love me forever…
He walks down the stairs with a stern look, eyes locked on me. They get darker when he sees the pained look on my face.
“Don’t throw her out of the house now,” he says, a smirk blooming on his lips.
Everyone turns to face him, a little shocked. It even surprises me.
“Lucas, what are you doing?” Ariana asks him, nervousness creeping into her voice. She looks around, tense and confused. “We’ve been waiting for this moment, right babe?” She presses.
Even though Lucas imprinted on me, Ariana stole him from me. Can I even say that? Can someone steal something that was never yours in the first place? But she did take almost everything from me. My clothes, my room, my favorite things. And now, even the I considered my mate…
The only thing I can thank her for is showing me what kind of trash he really is. He is the dirtiest piece of sh*t to ever exist.
“Relax, Ariana,” he says, his voice softening. “If we wanna be together, I gotta reject this b*tch properly,” he lets out a scoff.
Then he strides toward me with long steps. I hesitate to look up at him. I don’t want to see his cruel face.
I think it didn’t please Lucas that much because suddenly, my hair was grabbed roughly. I felt his long wolf nails digging into my scalp and warm blood pouring out, making its way down to my neck. Some of my hair falls to the floor.
The pack elders don’t even bat an eye as he pulls my face toward him, tightening his grip as he forces me to face him. One drop of blood rolls down my cheek.
Oh goddess, I know what’s coming…
“I, Alpha Lucas of the Moonstone Pack, reject you, Avery Stone, as my mate… and as a member of this Pack.” He utters the cruel words as he stares into my eyes with a mocking smile. No hesitation… No pain… Just pure disdain.
My heart breaks into pieces. Casting me out of the Pack my father helped to build? I hate him so much. I don’t even feel any pain from those words. In my heart, I feel relieved that I am finally breaking away from him.
“I accept it,” I pick up the courage I have left and sneer. This is the first time I’ve ever said something with full confidence.
I glare into his eyes as I see his expression change into one of surprise. Then I see the hate return back tenfold. He’s real evil, I can see that clear as day.
“You’re not part of Moonstone anymore. Get outta here, b*tch,” he says and pushes me to the doorway.
“We’re leaving,” the elders say to my stepmother Merline. They don’t even glance at me once.
“Why don’t you feel any pain after being rejected by an alpha?” Ariana asks, all curious like she is dying to know why I’m not suffering like she expected me to. I’m sure it’s disappointing to her.
“Because he’s the worst alpha in history!” I say without blinking. “He’s the most greedy person alive. First, he made me his mate ‘cause he thought I’d hand him all this power and wealth. But after my father died, he started planning to dump me on purpose. If anything, I’m relieved that I’m not tied to a monster like him anymore. And you, fool, you thought you won a d*mn lottery, huh?”
I laugh, loud and crazy.
“Enough,” Lucas snaps.
“Why? You scared I’m gonna tell everyone the truth right here in front of them, huh?” I throw a wicked smile at him.
“I said enough. Have you lost your mind? You’ve got no home now. You’re not part of any Pack and you still have the nerve to talk back to an Alpha?” Lucas growls.
“Honey, you don’t need to boil your blood for this b*tch,” Ariana says, her voice dripping with honey as she tries to sweet-talk him. “She’s the most worthless creature in the whole werewolf history. A big loser with no wolf. She should go and live with those humans. Maybe with good training she could act like their dog or something. I’ve heard there are people who like those stuff.”
Everyone around me laughs.
The whole room just feels like it lives for this d*mn drama. Even the servants, except Margaret. She’s the only one who ever showed me a bit of kindness. I look up to meet her eyes but she avoids them quickly. I know she feels guilty that she can’t do anything, but I don’t blame her. She doesn’t have any power here.
She used to sneak me apples on punishment days when I didn’t get food. Patched up my wounds when Lucas beat me. Cared for me when Merline slapped me every d*mn time for things I didn’t do. Ariana always found a reason to make everything my fault.
“Okay, I’m leaving…” I mutter.
“Wait. You’re not going yet,” Merline says with a chuckle.
Merline… she’s the one I fear the most. There’s always been this strange aura around her. If I had a wolf, I could’ve sensed exactly what it was. I only know that she is from my mom’s side. I’d sometimes look at her thinking maybe she looked like my mother. There was resemblance but not much. My mother was never this cold. I’m sure of it even though I don’t remember how she was.
“Now what…? You ruined my life. Ever since you came into this house, everything’s been a disaster,” I say, my voice shaking even though I try to keep it steady. I am growing tired.
She starts walking towards me with long strides. Her stare is cold and I can feel it crawling over my skin. Her eyes… they are getting darker. Even darker than Lucas’s.
She stops in front of me, grabs my hair, and pulls me into another room in the Pack house. Lucas and Ariana follow us as she throws me to the floor.
“Aaaah!” I let out a pained scream. It hurts. Lucas had already hurt me earlier and my body is growing weak from all the abuse.
“What do you want now? It’s already over. The Pack rejected me. That b*st*rd Lucas rejected me. Now what?” This is the first time I raise my voice in my house in a long while.
The blood from the back of my head starts flowing again because of her rough grab. Suddenly, a slap echoes in the room as Merline’s hand meets my cheek. It is so strong I can feel the pulsing pain all over my face.
“Do not raise your voice in my house!” Merline roars.
“What did I do? Is it my fault my parents are dead? I did not do anything against you or anyone. So why are you doing this to me?!” I snap back, wiping away the tears that don’t stop.
“If you cannot accept me as your daughter, that is fine, but you are my aunt too. My real mother is your sister, right…?”
“Oh, stop with your drama.” She scoffs, cutting off my words.
“Your mother, my sister Amara, was only my adopted sister. And she was a criminal too. Not only your mother, both your parents have committed atrocious crimes,” she says.
“Crime? What kind of crime?”
“They murdered people. Innocent people.” She sneers.
“No, my father would never do that. I know my father. They won’t.”
“But they did. That is the truth. And you are the reason they committed those murders.”
I didn’t understand what she was talking about. How could I be the reason for murders I didn’t even know about?
“Because you are a hybrid. You are not only wolf blood like your father but also witch blood like your mother.”
What is she talking about? Hybrid? I only know about the wolf part. I never heard of this witch thing.
As I try to make sense of everything the pain of rejection from Lucas finally kicks in and with each passing second, it starts getting worse. I feel a strange kind of sensation inside me.
“What did you say earlier? My daughter stole your mate, huh?” She smirks, crossing her arms as she steps closer.
“Amara, that b*tch, stole Alpha Alfred from me. Did you know that?” She grabs my hair again in frustration. “The pain I felt when Alpha Alfred refused me for her was excruciating. She is just like you. Not only in looks, she is also a fool. She married Alpha Alfred, that was the first foolish thing in her life.” She scoffs. “Then she gave birth to you, the biggest, dumbest creature not only in Moonstone but in the entire world. And then I got the chance to marry your father and become Luna. But then he died for you. And you are the reason behind your father’s death. Not me. You destroyed your own family.”
I watch her with wide eyes, not knowing what to say. The pain was getting worse. I can’t process all the information being dumped onto me.
“Don’t think too much,” she says. “Fools like you don’t need to think beyond this. It is all going to end soon anyway. This is the first and last kindest thing I am doing for you.” She smirks.
“What… are you talking about? Why… my body…” My tongue goes numb as I try to talk. My body is getting weak and I feel my head turn heavy and soon, I feel myself fall to the floor like a rag doll.
“It is poison,” she says with a sinister laugh. “That earlier scratch made by Lucas, he put poison in your head. You’re dying now, useless omega.”
I turn to look at Lucas with all the strength I can muster. He smirks and turns to Ariana, earning a kiss from her. To be honest, I’m not shocked he did that. I have always suspected that they might kill me. I think this is the best time to do so.
Soon, my eyes were turning heavy and my vision was blurring as I fought to keep them open. In the end, I wasn’t strong against the power of the poison and I felt my body give up. The drowned-out laughter of everyone around me echoed painfully in my ears as I closed my eyes, helpless to do anything.
Chapter 2
My eyes are closed, but I can hear their voices.
“Lucas, you should bury her body and do it somewhere far,” Merline says to Lucas.
“Oh… yes… a rat hole is enough for this b*tch. I already prepared her grave yesterday as we planned. I can do that with pleasure,” he says with a mocking scoff.
“Wait, I want to see that b*tch’s face one last time.” Ariana’s voice echoes in the room as her footsteps come toward me. “I have always wanted to torture her for my entire life, but unfortunately we decided to end this earlier.” She presses her fingernails into my cheeks, making me wince.
She stands up to let out a loud sigh. “Mom, do we really have to take her life this early?” she asks, whining a little.
“It is not early, dear. If anything, it’s late. There are things that I don’t want to happen. This is for the better. I’ve tried to end her before but every time, this lucky b*tch somehow managed to escape. This time, everythi
