Chapter 1: Shattered Dream..

Chapter 1: Shattered Dream..

Soft classical music played in the grand ballroom of Shen Tai, and the golden lights sparkled like stars above the guests. Everyone smiled and clapped as the couple’s names were announced:

Lucas Wei and Isabella Chen.

The new perfect pair.

The engagement was taking place in Shen Tai, one of the most luxurious five-star hotels in the country. Only a handful of the wealthiest families could afford to host events here.

The entire hall was filled with high-society guests, all dressed in designer gowns and crisp tuxedos.

But some of them whispered in disbelief, wondering how the groom’s family had managed to book Shen Tai. But soon, their curiosity melted into admiration.

After all, missing a celebration like this at a place like Shen Tai would have been a loss only.

But one person stood at the back of the hall, almost invisible in her simple pale blue dress. Her brown hair fell gently to her shoulders, and her soft blue eyes now red with unshed tears remained fixed on the couple standing under the spotlight.

Era Chen..

She stood still, her hands tightly clenched at her sides, watching the man she once believed would be her forever.

She smirked bitterly.

Her stepmother had forced her to come said it would be rude not to attend her sister’s big day.

And her father? As always, he just nodded in agreement, never questioning, never protecting.

Era didn’t speak. She didn’t cry.

She simply stood there… trying not to fall apart.

The applause grew louder as Lucas gently slid the engagement ring onto Isabella’s finger, then kissed her hand with a tender smile.

Era’s world turned silent.

This was supposed to be her engagement. Her big day…

But her joy had been stolen her future shattered like fragile glass.

For a long time, Era had told herself that happiness didn’t last long for people like her. And today, even the only piece of happiness she’d tried to hold onto… was gone.

Just like that.

And then a memory hit her like a wave, dragging her back into the pain.

One Week Ago....

Era smiled softly as she placed tiny rose petals on the decorated table. Everything was almost ready for the engagement ceremony. The venue had been chosen, the guest list finalized, and the invitations sent.

But what truly shocked Era was the choice of venue, Shen Tai.

Although both Lucas’s and her own families were considered rich and well-connected, booking Shen Tai was still beyond what she imagined. She had assumed they would go for something simpler.

But the thought made her heart warm. Maybe Lucas wanted this to be extra special.

She had even picked her dress a soft pink gown with delicate lace on the sleeves. Every time she imagined walking into the venue holding Lucas’s hand, her heart fluttered.

Lucas and Era had been promised to each other since childhood. Even though Lucas had become cold and distant over the years, Era never stopped trying.

She gave everything she had, hoping he’d feel the same again.

But that dream came crashing down just three days before the engagement.

Lucas had called her to his office.

“I need to tell you something,” he said, not meeting her eyes.

Era tilted her head with a soft smile. “What is it? You seem a little off today.”

Lucas hesitated. His face was emotionless. His voice colder than usual.

Just then, the door opened and Isabella walked in.

“Did you already tell her?” Isabella asked casually, strolling up to Lucas like she belonged there.

Era frowned. “What… are you doing here, Isa?”

Isabella gave her a sweet, fake smile and clung to Lucas’s arm.

“I came to pick up Lucas,” she said. “We’re going shopping for our engagement outfits.”

Era’s breath caught in her throat.

“What are you talking about?”

Lucas looked down. Then, after a long pause, he said in a low voice, “I’m marrying Isabella.”

Era blinked. “W-what do you mean? Our engagement is in three days…”

Lucas finally looked at her. “I’m sorry. I don’t feel the same about us anymore. Isabella and I… we’ve been together for a while now. She’s the right match for me.”

Isabella giggled and laced her fingers through his.

Era stood frozen. Her whole body felt numb.

She didn’t shout. She didn’t cry.

She just stood there, her heart slowly breaking… in silence.

Back to the Present Engagement Party....

The crowd cheered again as Lucas and Isabella descended the steps from the stage, hand in hand.

Era blinked, returning to reality. She still stood at the edge of the room like a shadow the forgotten chapter in this beautiful story.

Her stepmother gave her a fake smile from across the room, eyes full of pride. It was a look that said,

'My daughter fits better with Lucas than you ever did.'

Isabella whispered something into Lucas’s ear while glancing briefly at Era. Lucas smirked.

The sickness in Era’s chest grew stronger. She couldn’t take it anymore.

Before Isabella could approach her with her usual cruel smirks, Era turned away and quietly slipped out of the ballroom.

The moment she left the crowd and entered the quieter hallway, she finally gasped for breath as if someone had been choking her all night.

She walked quickly toward the more private area of Shen Tai, where few guests ever wandered. It was calm there away from the laughter and the flashing cameras.

She stood next to a quiet fountain, her back against the wall. Her chest rose and fell as she struggled to breathe evenly.

Her eyes welled up… and finally, tears began to fall silently onto the ground.

No one was there to see.

No one was ever there for her.

Chapter 2: The Door That Led to the Unknown..

Chapter 2: The Door That Led to the Unknown..

The hallway outside the grand ballroom was quiet, dimly lit, and far removed from the music and chatter that filled the rest of Shen Tai.

Era stood alone, her back resting gently against the cool marble wall of the private lounge zone.

Her pale blue dress fluttered slightly with the breeze from the ceiling vent. She closed her eyes, trying to calm the storm in her chest.

The air was fresh here so different from the suffocating luxury and fake smiles inside.

Tears silently slipped down her cheeks, one after another. No sobs. No sound. Just the soft ache of a heart that had been shattered too cruelly.

Her eyes fluttered shut, trying to calm the pounding in her chest. But just as she exhaled, a sudden sound caught her attention.

"Give it back! That’s mine!"

A small voice whiny, dramatic, and full of mischief.

"You already had one, and you threw the bone at me. This one’s mine n
