The Devil’s Accidental Bride

“You can do this Amara.” I whispered against my breath as I held on to the glass of water meant for Dante’s wife, it’s not her fault she is meant to be with him, no matter what I felt for him.

My hand shook as I placed on a fake smile on my face and I stared at the door.

“Caroline, I got the water.” I smiled, yet the moment I walked in, my breath hitches, the tears that I have been holding back fell against jt cheeks and I glanced at the surroundings.

The water instantly fell to the ground, the glass breaking and all I did was stare around, there was blood smeared everywhere, her veil Lia’s on the floor and there was no signs of Caroline.

“Caroline.” I yelled across the room trying to find her and yet there was nothing, I needed her to be here.

I rushed out of the room instantly to inform Noah.

“What’s going to happen now Noah.” I asked, as we settled in the bedroom, my eyes softly met Dante, I can’t seem to read his emotions, was he glad that she is gone? Did he love her enough to want to find her? Who could walk into this security tight event and take her away.

“People are waiting, and you can not let them find out the bride is gone.”

“Her parents are going to find out eventually, sooner than later, no matter what we do, they will know their daughter is gone, what will happen then.” I asked.

“We will find her, but f*ck.” Dante started to say and he kept quite.

He looked between me and his best friend who is also my only brother.

His bride is gone, the woman he has been betrothed too since the moments he was born, someone took her away right under our noses.

I didn’t make me happy, she may be marrying someone I secretly loved but it was never her fault and she had always been nice to me.

“I think I have an idea.” Noah suddenly said and he turned to look at me.

Whatever it was in his mind, I can’t do it.

“No Noah, I am not going to do what you have in mind.” I yelled.

“Look at me Amara, this is the only way, we can not walk out of here without a bride, they expect a bride, they expect a wedding, if they find out Dante’s wife has been taken away, he will be mocked.”

“Her family.” I whispered. “Dante and I we can’t.” I breathed out.

No matter how much I wanted to be with him, it didn’t feel right to be with him this way, I knew that he didn’t love me like I wanted him too.

“We can’t force her, I will find something to tell everyone, we can tell the the bride got sick and we had to post pone everything.” Dante said and turned to look at him. “I am not going to ruin Amara’s life, whoever took Caroline, is out there and the moment Amara becomes my wife, they will come for her too.”

“They won’t, she will have the protection of both of us, Caroline was take. For a reason, may people will not benefit  if you get married to Caroline. The mafia becomes yours, this whole arrangement, o have a feeling someone close to the family did this, someone that feels like this marriage will not be good.” Noah explained.

My head felt heavy and my breath hitches as I stared at both of them, what did I want to do? What did I have to do.

Get married to Dante.

For how long?

When he finds Caroline he will leave me, I will be hurt even more than I am already.

“I don’t want to force Amara.” Dante finally said and I smiled softly.

“I want to speak to my sister alone.” Noah mumbled against his breath.

“You have to do this, you always wanted to be a part of some thing, Dante is too kind to force you to do this, if you get married to Dante, the protection of his mafia will be on you for a meantime, until I am able to find out who took Caroline, until I am able to find out, who has been stealing our shipments, you and I both know that, our mafia is not stable at the moment.”

“He is your best friend. He can help us with all of that.” I yelled.

Noah marched toward me and my eyes met his softly.

“Don’t you get it Amara, I didn’t want it to come to this but I found out who killed mom.” He said and my breath hitches, my heart skipped a beat as I stared at him, it felt like he was joking, I wanted him to be.

“How long?.”

“Four days ago and I may have done something without thinking.”

“You think because of what you did, Caroline was taken and if Dante ever finds out about it he will never forgive you.”

“He will forgive me, I can’t just drag him into this mess, he never really loved Caroline, he was only doing this for his mother.”

“Do you know where she is? Please Noah don’t tell me you took that poor girl.”I breathed out, “why will the people that killed mom take her, why not me, she is not eve related to you or me, why didn’t they take me instead.”

“There are many things I can’t explain to you at the moment, but you need to get married to Dante. He has saved me from a lot of things and you have to do this for him, he can’t walk out of there without a bride and bring shame to his family and friends. Promise me you will get married to him. I need you to be save so I can take care of the things I started.”

My eyes met his softly and a tear slipped out of my eyes, Noah never begs and if he does, it meant a lot.

“Okay.” I whispered.

My wedding day is something I always imagined, but this time it was different, the dress was not mine, the make up didn’t belong to me, I had many things borrowed and neither of them is meant to stay with me.

Who would have thought I would be the temporary bride to the man I have always loved.

My feet felt wobbly as I headed out of the room, Caroline and I were the same size, even her shoes were my fit, I was scared to see her parents, how would they feel watching  someone were get married in their daughter’s dress

I needed to do this for Noah, whatever he did; he needs to fix it and after this we are having a long conversation, it’s bad enough I can’t tell Dante, that’s how I know it’s bad, Noah and Dante have been friends since they were one, I grew up always knowing Dante.

They tell each other  everything but when Noah hides form Dante, it’s because he knows he messed up, it’s because he knows that what he did was horrible and terrible.
