Chapter 1

ALEX POV

I looked at the most perfect human being in the world and wondered how someone could be so perfect and fine.

The object of my admiration was none other than Xavier Williams. Most handsome, most popular and the best student in our school.

Everybody wanted to be close to him but he always had this aloof personality that made people stay away. That didn't stop people from fantasizing about him though.

I liked to think that he just needed the right person that he would open up to.

I felt something hit my head. "Ouch!" I complained.

My best friend Tony had hit me with a fork.

"Earth to Alex!" he said.

"At this point you are a lost cause my friend. You were practically drooling over him." my other best friend Tina added.

Tony and Tina were twins and the three of us had been best friends since middle school.

I looked over to where Xavier sat down with some other popular kids eating his lunch and sighed mournfully.

"I just wish he would notice me." I told them.

"I hate to break it to you but he is way out of your league." Tony told me.

"Tony don't be mean. Alex, if you like Xavier why don't you just tell him." Tina suggested.

Tony burst into laughter, he almost fell out of his seat. He only stopped laughing after he noticed that we were both glaring at him.

"What is so funny?" Tina asked.

"Well have either of you two hopeless romantics ever considered that Xavier might not be gay?"

"Well he might not be straight either. He might even be bi." Tina argued.

"Does he even know if Alex exists?" Tony asked.

"Well if Alex confesses his feelings, he would definitely knows he exists." Tina replied.

"Enough of the arguing, you two are giving me an headache. I just want to admire him in peace." I told them.

Toby sighed. "You are really a lovesick puppy."

"Stop teasing him Tony." Tina warned.

I tuned them out and continued looking at Xavier.

Someone came inside to announce that our results had been published on the school notice board. In the blink of an eye, the cafeteria was already empty.

Only Xavier remained in his table eating his lunch leisurely. All his friends had left.

"Wow! He is so undisturbed about his results." Tina said as she looked at him in amazement.

"He always takes the first position. He is already used to it." Tony replied.

"Shouldn't we go check our results too?" I asked them.

Tony rolled his eyes. "Why? We already know our positions, we are always the bottom three."

"That's true." I replied sadly.

Tony patted my shoulder in sympathy. "I would advise you to give up on this crush of yours. The gap between you and Xavier is very wide. But if you insist on confessing to him, I will help you out."

I turned to him quickly. "Really? You are going to help me out?"

"Yes, that's what I just said." he replied in a bored tone.

"Will you help Tina?"

"of course Alex, it would be a pleasure"

"So how do I confess to him?" I asked the both of them.

"We could hire one of those performing bands and throw petals in the air. While you confess." Tina suggested.

"Oooh! Maybe we could also hire some people to chant 'say yes' " I added.

"It isn't a freaking marriage proposal. Just send him a love letter" Tony said.

"That's actually a good idea, who knew you could be so smart?" Tina asked him.

He threw his chips at her and she stuck out her tongue at him.

"Guys. What do I write in a love letter?" I asked them.

"Your feelings. Make sure it is heartfelt." Tony replied.

"Yes, you want him to know that your feelings are sincere." Tina added.

"Thanks guys you are the best." I told them.

I was already full of ideas on the things I would write in the letter. I wanted him to know the true extent of my feelings.

.........

That evening I got home and started to write the letter. I made sure to tell him how much I loved him and how perfect he was and asked him to give me a chance in his life.

As I finished writing the letter, I heard a knock on the door, it was my mom.

"Hey sweetie, what are you doing?" she asked as she peeked into my room.

I quickly put the letter away, "Just doing some homework."

She came in and sat on my bed.

"How was school today?" she asked.

"Fine, how was work at the restaurant?"

"The usual, customers came, they ate and left."

"Mom, can I ask you a question?"

"Yes you can dear."

"How did you know you loved dad."

My mom smiled as she thought of my dad (he passed away when I was a child). "The first time i saw him, I was mesmerized. His smile took away my breath and I felt butterflies in my tummy." she answered.

"Awwn. That's so cute." I gushed.

"Why do you ask sweetie? Do you have anyone in your life that you love?"

I blushed and hid my face in my hands. "Maybe."

"Have you told him?" (my mom knew I was gay)

"No, I am scared that he will reject me."

"You aren't going to know for sure until you try. Who knows he might not reject you"

"Do you think so?"

She pinched my cheeks. "Look at how adorable you are, who would ever reject such a cutie."

"Mom!" I said embarrassed as I removed her hands from my face.

"Confess to him, if he rejects you, fine. But at least you know you tried."

"Thanks for the advice mom."

She stood up from the bed, kissed my forehead and left the room.

The next day emboldened by my mom's advice and my friends encouragement. I slipped my love letter into Xavier's locker.

Chapter 2

ALEX POV

For the past two days since I dropped the note, I hadn't heard from Xavier. I wondered if he had seen the note.

I constantly watched him but he didn't seem to act any different.

"I don't know why he hasn't replied yet." I complained to my friends. We were currently eating lunch in the cafeteria.

"Maybe he is busy or doesn't know what to say." Tina suggested.

"Or it could be because he doesn't know you exist." Tony said.

"Tony! Why do you have to be so mean all the time?" Tina questioned.

"What did I say wrong now? How can Xavier give him a reply when he doesn't know who Alex is or where is locker is?" Tony explained calmly.

"Oh! That's true. You are so smart Tony" I praised him while he preened like a proud peacock.

"I am also smart." Tina grumbled.

"Of course you are Tina." I told her.
