Chapter 1: The Betrayal
KARA'S POV
“How well do you trust your fiance?”
A frown formed on my face as I read the message that popped on my screen and Blair tapped my shoulder when she saw I was distracted.
“What's wrong?” She asked and I showed her the strange message that I received from an unknown number.
“These messages again? Don't you think you should look into this?” She suggested with a worried expression but I just shook my head as I deleted the message.
“I trust Dax with everything I have, I'm sure someone just wants to sow discord between both of us. Besides, we're getting married next week, this is a sign that someone is trying to sabotage our wedding. We've been together since high school, you know how much we love each other.” I boasted and Blair chuckled at the look of pride on my face.
“Of course, my best friend is finally getting married, I'm so jealous. When will I meet my Mr right as well?” She teased and I hit her shoulder playfully as my face heated up at her words.
My phone buzzed with another notification and when I clicked on the message, my heart dropped. It was a video of my husband and a lady, whose face was blurred, holding hands as they walked into his house. Attached to the video was a message that read: “You don't believe me? Go see for yourself.”
Another picture of them hugging popped in after I read the message and my hands trembled slightly at the thought of Dax cheating on me. He could never do that to me. He-
“Kara, are you alright? You look pale.” She asked in concern and I plastered a smile on my face as I nodded.
“Yeah, everything is fine. I just feel a bit dizzy all of a sudden. I should head back home now.” I said with a smile and she nodded as she followed me out of her house.
“Oh, by the way, don't forget to send me a picture of your wedding dress the moment it arrives, okay?” She said in excitement, and I nodded with a tight-lipped smile before I got into my car and drove onto the road.
It might all just be a simple misunderstanding. Dax would never do something as crazy as this a week before our wedding.
My heart pounded harshly in my chest as I drove to Dax's house and I couldn't help the slight tremor in my hands as I drove. The moment I arrived at his house, I was immediately stopped by the security guard from going in.
“Ma'am, the boss isn't around yet; you can't come in.” He said and I raised my brow at him as my eyes caught sight of his car parked in front of the house.
“I'm his fiancee. I'm not allowed to wait for him till he's back?” I questioned, and he rubbed his neck nervously before nodding, and I let out a scoff of disbelief.
“Oh, Dax?” I called out in excitement and the moment the guard turned around to look, I snuck past him and rushed into the house before he could stop me.
“Ma'am, wait!” He called out but I was already inside the house and on my way to Dax's room. I saw a lady's handbag on the chair as I walked in and my heart pounded wildly in fear.
“Please… don't be what I think this is…” I mumbled to myself as I walked up to his room and raised my hand to knock. Just as my knuckles were about to hit the door, I heard loud giggles and moans come from behind the door and I froze.
My hand trembled as I turned the doorknob and pushed the door open, my heart stopping at the sight in front of me. There was a lady on top of my fiance and they were both naked while basking in each other's pleasure.
I walked into the room and slammed the door shut, causing both of them to jolt in shock as they turned to look at me. My heart shattered into pieces when I realized that the lady who was sleeping with my fiance was Clara, my twin sister.
She had a slight smirk on her face as she saw me and Dax immediately pushed her off him before scrambling off the bed to put on his clothes. I wiped the tears that fell off my eyes and turned around to leave but Dax caught up with me and held my hands, an expression of despair on his face.
“Kara, wait, let me explain!”
“What do you have to explain, Dax? You were cheating on me with my twin sister! Would you say you couldn't tell us apart? We don't even look alike!” I yelled as I yanked my hands away from his and he moved to block me from leaving the room.
“It wasn't intentional at all! Please let me explain.” He pleaded and a bitter smirk formed on my face as I crossed my arms.
“You wanna explain? Fine. How long has this little relationship been going on?” I asked and he immediately went silent as he took a step back.
“I'll answer for you.” Clara started as she sat up with a sly smirk on her face. “You and Dax started dating three years ago which means… I and Dax have been together for two years now.” She explained, and I stumbled backward in shock as I looked up at Dax, who looked at the floor in guilt.
“Is that true, Dax? Just tell me this isn't true…”
His silence gave me the answer and I let out a bitter laugh as tears rolled down my face. I then looked at the diamond ring on my finger before looking up at him again.
“I wish the both of you a happy future,” I said bluntly, and Dax's eyes widened as he tried to approach me, but I quickly stepped away from him.
“What do you mean by that?” He asked in shock and I smiled in response.
“I mean we're over! Our engagement is over, and our wedding is canceled!” I said as I pulled out the ring and threw it at him before storming out of the room. I ran out of the house and got into my car as Dax tried to chase after me but I quickly turned on the engine and zoomed down the road.
My vision was blurring due to the tears that fell on my face, and I harshly wiped them off. They were dating right under my nose for two years and I had no idea.
I had to find the anonymous sender and find out what they wanted from me since they helped me find out the truth. I stopped the car by the roadside and immediately forwarded the private number to my dad's assistant before dialing his number.
“Leo, I need your help,” I said as soon as he picked up the call.
“Miss Kara. I just got your message. I'll get to it immediately, you can stay on the line while I check.” He replied and I hummed as I sat in silence while playing with my hands nervously. Minutes passed before he finally spoke again and I sat up nervously.
“Miss Kara, I found the owner of the phone number.”
“Who is it?”
“It's… Miss Clara, your sister.”
Chapter 2: Two Choices
KARA'S POV
The moment I slammed my room door shut, I collapsed to the ground as I cried bitterly, the weight of everything that happened today crashing down on me like a heavy brick.
Dax and Clara had been together for two years, and Clara had been the one who sent me those disturbing messages because she wanted to break us apart. And she succeeded. I touched my left hand and when I felt no ring there, I burst into tears again.
Just then, someone knocked and I stood up as I opened the door to see the designer of my wedding dress staring at me with a smile.
“Your dress is here ma'am, do you wanna try it on-”
“Just drop it and leave,” I said bluntly and she looked taken aback. She dropped the dress in my room anyway before leaving and I inspected the pretty gown that I was supposed to wear to get married to the love of my life.
“You f*ck*ng liar!” I yelled in tears as I pulled at the gown and a sharp
