One Sunday night, Caroline received soul-shattering news. Her little twin son, Conner, was diagnosed with leukemia. Caroline only had her two children and the man she loved, as she had never known her parents. The desperation and pain of watching her son suffer led her to seek out Lisandro Caristeas, the father of her children, a supposed traveling sales worker who had to travel constantly. She loved him, but she did not know Lisandro's true identity because he never spoke about his family. Upon finding him, her pain intensified when she discovered that, for eight years, she had been living a lie of love. What is Lisandro hiding? What did Caroline discover? After learning the truth, will their love still endure? One Sunday night, Caroline received soul-shattering news. Her little twin son, Conner, was diagnosed with leukemia. Chapter 1

In a cozy room, with brick walls and a wide window that lets in the faint sunlight, Caroline, a beautiful artisan, dedicates herself to molding clay to create a requested jug. Her hands are covered in a light brown powder, moving with grace and precision.

Her fingers dance around the material, and she undoubtedly loves her art, where she immerses herself in a world in which she can be free, giving it shape while softly singing a romantic melody. The clay responds to her touch, converting into something more than a simple object; it transforms into a work of art that reflects her essence of unique creations.

"Mommy! Mommy!" her little daughter's distressed voice grabs her attention, causing her to lose control and spoil her creation.

"What is it, sweetie?" She stops completely, then stands up upon seeing her 7-year-old daughter so worried.

"It's my little brother, Mom! He's very hot and he's shaking."

"Oh, God!" Caroline didn't care about going out with her hands full of clay; the important thing was her son, who had been running a fever lately, and that was no longer normal. Aileen, her little daughter with blonde hair and blue eyes, cries agonizingly and runs with her mother to the room of Conner, her twin.

"Son!" Caroline is terrified to see him trembling and to see the drops of sweat breaking out on his forehead; it looked as if he had just taken a bath. "Mommy's here!" She quickly lifts him into her arms.

"Mom, is my little brother going to die?" Aileen and Conner are siblings who love each other, play together, and are inseparable.

"Calm down, honey, come with me, I need to leave you at Mrs. Graciela's house." She leaves the room with her heart shattered at the sight of her son suffering.

"Mom, I'm very scared, I want to be with you!" Little Aileen is a sea of tears, and Caroline doesn't have time for her daughter to yield to staying with Mrs. Graciela, so she takes her to the hospital as well.

Caroline tries to stay in control, but the pain intensifies more and more as she watches her son in the rearview mirror and sees how her daughter cries, hugging him. "Little brother, I'm sad, I don't want to see you like this, you said 'together forever'."

"Aileen, you have to calm down, honey."

"I want my daddy," she sobs, pouting.

"I do, too... But we must be strong to help Conner. Can I count on you?" She looks in the rearview mirror.

"Yes, Mom," she replies with great tenderness.

Caroline had to slightly exceed the speed limit to get to the hospital as quickly as possible. Upon arriving, she quickly parks and then proceeds to take her son out, carrying him in her arms. "Daughter, hold onto my shirt, don't stray from me." Caroline orders her and then quickens her steps, entering through the emergency room.

"Help, please, my son, my son has a very high fever!" Her cry for help draws the attention of a nurse, who, upon approaching and seeing Conner's condition, retrieves a gurney.

"Carefully place him on the gurney!" She hurried to help him.

"Please... help me!" she begs, taking Conner's small, warm hand. "Son, you are brave," she whispers through tears, and then she had to let go because they wheeled him into the emergency room.

"Mommy, is my little brother going to be alright?" Aileen needs her mother's comfort; she is just a child and is afraid of losing the being she loves.

"Come here!" She lifts her up, and Aileen hugs her with all her strength. "Everything is going to be okay," she whispers, looking at the emergency room door, feeling vulnerable.

Two hours later...

Caroline had to call Graciela, her neighbor and good friend, a 50-year-old widow who had no children and greatly loved Caroline and her children.

"Have some tea, dear, you're very nervous." Graciela hands it to her.

"And how could I not be? I feel like I'm dying, Grace, no one is giving me an update on my son, and Aileen only wants her brother to be healthy. What am I supposed to do? I have a husband, my children have a father, but he's not by my side when I need him most."

"You should call him," she sits down next to Caroline.

"I did, but it goes straight to voicemail, as always when he leaves for work," she lets out a long sigh and looks at her daughter, who is sleeping like an angel in her arms.

"I still insist that your husband is very strange, dear Caroline, but you're not alone. Maybe it's just an infection; children put a lot of things in their mouths."

"All I want is for him to be okay. If something happens to him, I won't be able to bear it, and I'm worried about my daughter, for God's sake." Caroline closes her eyes for a moment; she feels so tired.

"Mrs. Taylor," the doctor in charge of Connor's case mentions her name, causing Caroline to open her eyes quickly and look at the doctor fearfully, without even blinking.

"Yes... Please, how is my son?" she asks, and she feels a sharp pang in her chest upon seeing the doctor shake her head.

"Ma'am, your son has Leukemia."

"What!?" Graciela's scream woke Aileen.

"Doctor, no, please, no." Caroline goes into a nervous crisis.

"Why are you crying, Mommy?" Aileen looks at the doctor.

Caroline lowers her daughter because she felt like she would pass out with such disastrous news. "Acute leukemia, it's a very common cancer in children."

"No! Not my son, no!" She brings her right hand to her heart.

"Is my little brother going to die?" The girl hugs Graciela.

"No, sweetie, come with me." She takes the girl away to leave Caroline alone with the doctor.

"Ma'am, your son needs to be admitted; he must receive treatment. It's not easy, but if you believe in God, he may be one more child who can beat cancer."

Caroline doesn't feel well, which is why she falls back into the chair, sitting down, placing her hands on her knees, massaging and squeezing them—she does that when she's afraid.

"The patient's mother must pay the initial installment for the treatment, and the boy will surely need a stem cell transplant."

"How much money is it?"

When the doctor tells her the amount, Caroline's jaw nearly drops; it is too much. "Ma'am, it is preferable that you find a way to pay rather than waiting for the government. Not all children are lucky. I ask your permission, I must go do a check-up." The doctor leaves.

Caroline brings her hands to her head and pulls her hair a little while tears slide down her cheeks. She wants to run, she wants to scream, but she is alone in this overwhelming moment and must keep her feet on the ground.

"My God, help me! My son is only 7 years old, he still has so much to live for, he is my son, my little Conner." With her trembling hands, she calls Lisandro Caristeas, the father of her children, again, but it goes to voicemail. "Darling, our son is sick, I need you, please, we need you," she begs through tears and hangs up the call.

Graciela returns because Aileen was crying inconsolably, wanting to be with her mother, so upon seeing her, she hugs her tightly. "I'm so scared, Mom," Aileen clings to her mother.

"Everything is going to be okay, honey, Mommy has to resolve the situation, but I need you to help me by being strong, okay?"

"What are you going to do, Caroline?" Graciela expresses sadness on her face.

"Please watch Aileen, I have to go look for Lisandro."

"I want to go with you, Mommy..."

"You can't, sweetie, there's hardly any money, and time is my enemy right now."

"I'll take care of her; you know I love your children very much."

"I'm going to see Conner, stay with Graciela, daughter, please."

Aileen nods her head, and so Caroline walks with trembling legs to where her son is being held, but they wouldn't let her approach because of how dirty she was. She had to watch him from a distance through a large glass window. "Son, I'll do whatever it takes to save your life, I love you, darling, you're my little man, you're Superman, yes, you're Superman..." she whispers, continuing to cry because her son is a fan of Superman.

...

...

Caroline arrives home and packs only the essentials. The only thing she knows is that her husband mentioned he was going to Santorini. She knows the address of where he is because he received a text a few days before embarking on his trip to Santorini, which said he was urgently needed at the RESORT SANTORINI mansion.

This is the first time she will be away from her children, but it is for a greater good. She will use her savings to go find him and, together as a family, help their son.

It hurts her, and deeply, to have to leave Aileen, but her savings are barely enough to go to Santorini, trusting that her husband will take care of the rest. She went to the hospital to say goodbye to her son Conner, whose appearance was gaunt, and she swore to him that she would do the impossible to help him.

The trip has been very difficult for her; she doesn't feel like eating, and even though her eyelids feel heavy, she can't sleep because the vivid image of her son suffering immediately puts her on alert.

"I just wish this were only a nightmare, just that." She lets out a long sigh because many hours of travel await her, but she'll do whatever it takes for her son.

Hours later...

"Ma'am, ma'am," the flight attendant gently shakes Caroline's right shoulder.

"Conner, son!" She wakes up startled, and the flight attendant looks at her strangely.

"Ma'am, I'm sorry to wake you, but we have arrived, and all the passengers have already disembarked."

Caroline looks around, and it's true, everything is empty. "I'm sorry." She unfastens her seatbelt.

"Don't worry, ma'am. Do you need help with anything?"

Taylor stands up and grabs her backpack. "I'm not here on vacation; I'm here to find my husband, my son is on the verge of death."

"I'm so sorry to hear that..."

"Do you know where the RESORT SANTORINI mansion is?"

"Of course! It is said that the owner of that mansion is very bad-tempered," she smiles. "So demanding that the service employees don't last there. Of course, since her husband is a millionaire, well, in fact, the richest families live in that area, but the Caristeas are a very important family."

"Caristeas...?" Caroline feels her hands sweat and her heart pound strongly.

"The Caristeas are always in local magazines and newspapers; they are respected here in Santorini."

Caroline feels her body trembling because her beloved, the father of her children, has the same last name, but she tries to console herself by thinking it might be a coincidence. However, she has a premonition, one that is causing beads of sweat to break out on her forehead for fear of what might happen.

Chapter 2

Caroline hails a taxi that will take her to the mansion, and the ride feels endless, perhaps because of the fear of knowing she is so far from her children in the midst of a tense situation.

"Sir, is it still far?" she asks, seeing that 20 minutes have passed.

"We're about to enter, ma'am. The mansion is secluded because it has a private beach. Are you going to work at that mansion? They say the employees don't last because the owner is very demanding."

"Yes... Poor thing, my husband must be desperate to run away from that place. I'm not here to work; I've come on an urgent matter."

"That's good, because a young woman as lovely as you—and I say this with all respect—shouldn't be subjected to humiliation. Done, we've arrived." Caroline is surprised to see the mansion; it looks like a palace. "This is the best mansion in Santorini."

"It's beautiful, thank you, sir." Caroline pays the taxi driver, then takes a deep breath before passing through the large,
