Chapter 1 - Welcome Home
Tatiana’s POV
Sometimes, quitting is our only option, but we cling to that one glimpse of hope: that no matter how hard it will get, we will fight, and even though giving up is the only thing that is left, we won’t choose it.
“No, p-please, let me go.” I sobbed as I tried to stand up but to no avail.
My knees feel weak and my head is still throbbing with pain. It’s been like this since I woke up.
And I know this man in front of me is responsible for my dreadful headache.
My throat also feels dry from all the screaming and crying that I did.
I’ve never felt so hopeless and helpless.
“Stay still.” His baritone voice filled my ears.
“N-no!” I cried out and tried to move away from him but I almost fell from the bed if it wasn’t for him who was quick to catch me.
I automatically moved from his grasp, as if I had been electrified by his touch.
“Please stay still,” he told me. His tone came out gentle and low but it wasn’t enough to calm me down.
I can’t calm down knowing the situation I’m in right now.
“I’m just going to treat you,” he added.
And as if on cue, I felt the stinging pain from my wrist. It was probably because of all the movement that I made. But the pain that’s coming from my scratches can’t compete with the fear that is in my heart.
This man is insane.
How can he expect me to calm down when my hands are literally handcuffed to the bed?
I flinched when he tried to touch me.
“N-no, don’t touch me! Get away from me!” I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Suddenly, I was all hysterical again. I’m almost breathless from screaming and crying my heart out.
“Tatiana,” he called making me stop.
I looked at him with my eyes widened. “Y-you know me?”
This man may be blurry in my vision because of the tears in my eyes but I’m sure I have never met him in my whole life.
I meet a lot of people every day but I’m more than sure I’ve never seen him let alone met him and talked to him.
I don’t know him!
“Of course, darling.” His response sent shivers down my spine. “I know you so well.”
Fear filled my heart yet again upon hearing what he just said.
“W-were y-ou that s-someone--” I stuttered unable to finish what I wanted to say.
He slowly nodded. “That someone you felt had been following you for months? Yes, I was that man.”
What he said was enough to creep me out. He may not look like a goon or a gangster but he creeps me out.
Oh God.
How can I be so stupid? For several months, I felt like someone was following me and watching my every move but I ignored it. I ignored it thinking it was just nothing, but I was wrong. That something that I thought was nothing led me into this. Now, I can be in so much danger in the hands of this man and I just don’t know it yet.
I should have known better. I should been more careful. I should have never lowered my guard down and completely trusted my safety to my security.
“Tatiana,” he called my name again. “Listen to me.” He tried to hold my chin but I quickly avoided his hand.
He heaved a sigh. “I’m not going to hurt you.”
I shook my head at his words. How can I be so sure that he will not? He can’t be trusted.
He’s a dangerous man and I know it. I should know that after seeing all of my bodyguards bathing in their own pool of blood because of him. I know it was his doing. He's capable of killing.
“W-who are you?” Words managed to escape from my mouth.
I wanted to ask him that the moment I woke up but I was so scared that I didn’t.
“Leon Sabatini,” he replied.
Leon Sabatini? I’ve never heard that name.
Now, I’m sure as hell that I don’t know him.
“Pleased to meet you,” he added.
There’s something about his voice that I notice every time he talks. His accent. . .
He has an accent and I’m sure he’s not from the country I live in.
“Now, if you may, let me treat you.” He moved closer to me but I moved away from him again like he’s some kind of a disease that I will get infected with if I get in contact with him.
“Tatiana,” he called my name again.
Every time he does that, it never fails to send shivers down my spine. I’ve never thought someone could make me feel something by just simply calling my name.
I took a deep breath trying to calm my nerves. “W-where am I?”
“I’ll tell you if you just let me treat you,” he said.
I shook my head.
I can’t deny that my scratches sting but it was just nothing to me considering the situation that I’m in. And I don’t want his hands on me.
“Where am I?” I asked again as I roamed my eyes around.
All I can see is that I’m in a really big room with a big bed, big TV, closet, and other things that a room usually has.
Oh My God. . .
Looking at the colors, the things, the flowers in the vase, the curtains. . . this looks just like my room.
I looked at him.
He was really watching me.
“You’re in my house, Tatiana,” he replied.
“W-what am I doing here?”
He looked straight into my eyes and it’s enough to scare the sh*t out of me.
“This is your new home.”
My mouth gaped at his words. “W-what?”
The last thing I remember is me walking towards my car. It’s 9 in the evening if I remember it correctly, I went to meet Steve, my dad’s business partner’s son. He told me to go to dinner with him because he thought it would be a good thing for both family and the business. I was so ready to go home but before I could even reach my car, I found all of my bodyguards dead in an empty parking lot. Before I could even run, someone grabbed me and covered my mouth and nose with a handkerchief that made me fall asleep and the next thing that happened was me waking up in this room with this man in front of me.
I’m so confused. Where am I; what am I doing here; who is this man?
“This is where you live now, Tatiana,” he said. “With me.”
~*~
I rubbed my eyes before I opened them.
My head still hurts but the pain is tolerable now unlike before I fell asleep.
I eventually got tired from crying and screaming that I eventually fell asleep.
I roamed my eyes around and my heart sunk upon realizing that I was still in the same place. Before I completely drifted to sleep earlier, I prayed that this was all just a dream but now that I’m awake and I’m still here-- this wasn’t just a dream.
This is real.
This also means that Leon Sabatini is real.
Oh God.
I still don’t know where am I or what I’m doing here.
I automatically looked at my hands when I realized that I could freely move them now.
I’m not handcuffed anymore. He already removed it. There are also band-aids on my wrist.
He probably treated my scratches when I fell asleep because I didn’t let him touch me when he was trying to earlier. I’m just glad he didn’t force me or anything, otherwise I wouldn’t know what to do.
I stared at the ceiling as I tried to calm myself down.
Think, Tatiana. Think.
Leon Sabatini said that he had been following and watching me for several months and he decided to just abduct me one day. Come to think of it, this wasn’t the first time that I got kidnapped. When I was in grade school and early high school, there were incidents where I would get kidnapped and the kidnappers would ask for money from my parents. That was my life being the daughter of a business tycoon for several years.
But that was years ago. No kidnapping incidents happened again because my father enhanced my security and I remember doubling the number of my bodyguards months ago when I felt like someone was following me. That’s why I’m more than confused and shocked at how this man managed to outplay them.
I heaved a sigh. I can’t help but blame myself for what happened to my bodyguards. May God bless their souls.
My heart sank at the thought of my family-- my parents, and Tali, my younger sister. I don’t know what day it is already, hell I don’t even know what time is it right now but I’m sure my family is worried about me already and I know they’re searching for me.
I need to talk to Leon Sabitini. I need to ask him how much he wants. I don’t know if he already called my parents and made a deal with them but I can still try on my own. I’ll make a deal with him myself if I have to.
I quickly stood up from the bed and directly walked towards the door.
I repeatedly cussed inside my head when the door didn’t open when I twisted the knob. It’s locked and I need a key card or something to open it.
D*mn it.
Of course, it’s locked. What do I expect?
I walked towards the bed and sat on the edge.
“Hello?” I called. “Are you there?”
I have no idea if he can hear me or anything but I waited.
After a few minutes, he didn’t disappoint me because the door beeped and it opened.
He entered and immediately shut the door.
I saw something that he slid into his pocket.
The key card.
I s*ck*d on my lower lip.
My hands aren’t handcuffed anymore. . .
“I’m glad you’ve calmed down now,” he said.
I didn’t answer and just remained silent.
I can’t say anything merely because seeing him makes me feel how real this is and I can’t seem to wrap my head around what’s happening.
“Are you hungry?” he asked.
I still didn’t answer.
I can feel my stomach hurting the moment I woke up but I don’t have any appetite to eat.
“What do you want to eat, darling?” he asked again. “I can get you anything you want. Just say it.”
Really, huh?
I drew a breath.
I’m sitting on the bed and he is standing in front of me.
I can try and attack him because there’s nothing that is restraining me but I can’t help but have doubts. He is really tall and has a well-built body. He looks like he always goes to the gym so I don’t know if it will work if I try to take the key card from his pocket. Something bad might even happen if I do that.
Leon Sabitini didn’t hurt me physically or anything-- well, except the fact that he made me smell something that sent me to sleep but other than that, he didn’t hurt me. I got all my scratches from the handcuff because I wouldn’t stop moving.
So if I try to make a move and fail, I might make him mad and he might hurt me. I couldn’t risk my safety.
I guess, I’ll just have to trust the deal.
I took a deep breath.
“Did you call my father already?” I asked him.
“Why would I call your father, Tatiana?” he asked back.
I creased my forehead in confusion.
That’s the first thing people like him do once they already have me-- call my father and then ask him for ransom.
It was always like that. And after they get the money, they will release me, unharmed. Those people just really want money.
“How much do you need?” I asked again. “My father will give you any amount that you want, just release me after that.”
He looked at me, amused. “Why would I need money, Tatiana?”
“What?” I creased my forehead further. “You want money, right? It’s the reason why you kidnapped me, right?”
He shook his head, much to my horror. “Money is not the reason why you’re here. You’re priceless, darling.”
My mouth gaped. “W-what?”
Oh my god. . .
‘You’re in my house.’
‘This is your new home.’
His words played in my mind like a boomerang.
This can’t be. . .
Why is it that it only occurred to me. . . he’s the only one here. Not a group like the usual kidnappers.
This place screams luxury not like those small dirty rooms.
My gaze fell on his hand.
Rolex.
He’s wearing a Rolex watch. A really expensive one.
His polo shirt, his pants, his shoes. . . they are all from a luxury brand.
He’s rich.
If I were to calculate the prices of everything that he is wearing right now-- it could feed a middle-class family for a whole year.
He is d*mn rich.
And this can only mean one thing; this isn’t kidnap for ransom.
Chapter 2 - Burning Fire Within
Tatiana’s POV
Sh*t sh*t sh*t.
“I own you,” he suddenly said with a smirk plastered on his face.
Seeing his expression was enough to make me tremble on my spot.
I quickly shook my head hearing what he just said.
“No, no, no. Let me go,” I said with gritted teeth. “You have to let me go.”
The moment I realized that he didn't kidnap me for money, it all sank in and I started panicking. The situation I'm in is way more serious than I thought. . . and it's way more scary.
He just stared at me, ignoring my pleas. “You need to eat, Darling.” Leon stared down at me, changing the topic.
He keeps calling me that endearment. Why is he doing that?
I quickly avoided his gaze.
And how can he expect me to eat after what I just knew?
I don’t know if I will ever get out of here or if he will ever let me out.
I don’t know what he’s planning to do. . . with me. Especially now that money could not guarantee my safety.
“Don’t
