Hailey accidentally slept with a strange man after getting drunk. She thought he was a call boy, so she left a diamond bracelet on the bedside table and quietly walked away. Two months later, she discovered she was pregnant. After giving birth to twins, she fled abroad to raise them in peace. Meanwhile, Leo Murphy, the city’s most powerful man, held onto the diamond bracelet and began searching for the mystery woman who had spent that unforgettable night with him.

Chapter 1: A Sister’s Gift

“You dare say such things. You’re the first.”

The words barely registered before the door slammed shut behind Hailey.

The sound echoed in the presidential suite, sharp and final. She stumbled forward, her heels slipping against the polished floor as the room tilted violently around her. Her head throbbed, her stomach churned, and the bitter smell of alcohol clung to her like a second skin.

Water was running somewhere nearby.

The bathroom.

She followed the sound instinctively, pushing the door open with more force than she intended. Steam rushed out to meet her, blurring her already unsteady vision. Through the haze, she made out the outline of a man beneath the shower, tall and broad, water streaming down his bare back.

Her heart lurched.

Before she could take a step back, her knees buckled. Strong arms caught her just in time.

“How did you get in here?” the man demanded.

His voice was cold, unfamiliar, cutting through the fog in her head. Hailey tried to speak, but her tongue felt heavy, her thoughts scattered. She pushed weakly against his chest, panic flickering in her chest before dissolving into dizziness.

Moments later, she was on the bed.

The ceiling spun above her, lights blurring into streaks. She felt heat, weight, closeness she couldn’t process. Her mind tried to grasp what was happening, but everything slipped through her fingers.

Then darkness claimed her.

Outside the presidential suite, the hallway was quiet.

A woman stood with her arms folded, her posture relaxed, her expression calm. She had Hailey’s face. The same eyes. The same smile.

But there was nothing warm about it.

“My dear little sister,” she whispered, tilting her head toward the closed door, “enjoy the twentieth birthday gift I prepared just for you.”

She turned and walked away without looking back.

Sunlight streamed through the tall windows the next morning, illuminating a room in complete disarray.

Hailey woke with a sharp gasp, sitting upright as if pulled from a nightmare. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her heart pounding so hard it hurt. Her head ached, and fragments of the previous night came rushing back in broken flashes. The door. The steam. The unfamiliar voice.

Her hands trembled as she pressed them to her temples.

Slowly, she became aware of another presence.

Someone was lying beside her.

Hailey turned her head and froze. A man slept next to her, his face turned away, his features unfamiliar. Panic surged through her chest.

This wasn’t her room.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.

Last night had been her birthday. A simple celebration. Just her and her sister.

So how did everything go so wrong?

She forced herself out of bed, her legs weak beneath her. Pain shot through her body as she stood, but she bit back a cry. She dressed quickly, refusing to think too deeply, refusing to look too closely.

On her wrist was a handmade bracelet.

Her fingers tightened around it.

After a moment, she slipped it off and placed it gently on the bedside table. Leaving it behind felt like the only thing she could do.

Hailey picked up her bag, took one last look at the chaotic room, and walked out.

She didn’t know yet that this night would follow her for the rest of her life.

Hailey grabbed the coat beside the bed, pulled it over her head, and rushed out of the presidential suite without looking back.

When Leo woke up and found the space beside him empty, he frowned slightly. He pushed his bangs back as the gentle sunlight spilled across his well-defined body. His gaze lingered on the bed, then fell on the handmade bracelet lying quietly on the pillow.

A faint fragrance clung to it, familiar and strangely lingering.

“So she thinks she can use something like this to deal with me after sleeping with me?” Leo muttered coldly, picking it up between his fingers.

His eyes darkened.

Interesting.

Hailey hurried back to the Foster residence, her heart pounding violently in her chest.

The Foster family had strict rules. Staying out all night was absolutely forbidden. As she stood at the door, panic crept in.

It’s still early, she told herself. Maybe Mom and Dad haven’t woken up yet.

She gently pushed the door open.

“Hailey!”

The sharp voice made her freeze.

Old Master Foster stood up abruptly, his face dark with anger. Madam Foster sat beside him, her expression no better, disappointment clear in her eyes.

“You finally came back,” Old Master Foster snapped. “Where did you go last night?”

Hailey lowered her head. “Dad… Mom… I stayed at a friend’s place after going out. Nothing happened.”

She didn’t dare tell the truth. If they found out she had spent the night with a stranger, she would be driven out of the house without hesitation. Worse still, she didn’t even know who the man was.

Madam Foster frowned. “Which friend?”

Hailey hesitated only for a second before blurting out, “Amelia.”

The atmosphere instantly changed.

Beside their parents, Mia—who looked exactly like Hailey—began shaking her head subtly, her eyes widening as if trying to warn her.

“Sis, what are you talking about?” Mia asked softly.

Hailey looked at her in confusion.

Then footsteps echoed from upstairs.

“Hailey? You’re back already?”

Hailey’s eyes widened.

Amelia walked down the stairs, rubbing her temples. “I drank too much last night. Since it was Mia’s birthday too, I stayed here.”

Hailey’s face drained of color.

Before she could speak, a sharp slap echoed through the hall.

She staggered back, losing her balance and falling to the ground, her vision spinning.

“You ungrateful girl!” Old Master Foster roared. “Tell me the truth. Where did you go last night?”

Madam Foster and Mia hurriedly stepped forward to stop him.

“Dad, please calm down,” Mia said anxiously, helping to steady him. “There must be a misunderstanding. My sister has never stayed out overnight.”

Madam Foster sighed softly. “Yes, let’s hear her explanation.”

Old Master Foster snorted, clearly unconvinced.

Amelia rushed to Hailey’s side, helping her up. “Are you okay?”

Hailey nodded weakly. “I’m sorry, Mom, Dad. I worried you.”

Madam Foster looked at her with complicated emotions. “You’ve always been troublesome. Why can’t you be more like your sister?”

Old Master Foster scoffed. “If only she had even half of Mia’s sense.”

Mia smiled faintly and stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Hailey’s shoulders as if comforting her.

But as she adjusted Hailey’s clothes, her expression suddenly changed.

“Oh my God,” Mia gasped. “Hailey… what happened to you?”

Hailey’s heart skipped.

She quickly pulled her clothes back up, dread flooding her chest.

Old Master Foster’s face turned ashen.

He grabbed Hailey harshly. “You shameless girl. Who were you with last night?”

Pain shot through her scalp. Hailey instinctively looked to Madam Foster. “Mom…”

Madam Foster took a step back.

Amelia clenched her fists. “Uncle, please let her explain.”

Old Master Foster shoved Hailey away. “Explain? Then talk!”

Mia crouched beside Hailey, her voice gentle. “Just say it, sister. Dad won’t be angry if you tell the truth.”

Hailey bit her lip, her voice barely audible. “I… I don’t know who he is.”

The room fell silent.

Old Master Foster picked up the teacup beside him and flung it aside in fury. It shattered against the floor, porcelain fragments scattering.

Hailey flinched.

“You’ve disgraced this family,” he snarled.

Amelia stepped forward immediately, pulling Hailey into her arms, shielding her protectively.

“I won’t let you hurt her,” Amelia said firmly.

Hailey trembled in her embrace, her heart sinking as she finally understood one thing clearly.

This was only the beginning.

Chapter 2 Down-and-out Twin Sisters

Madam Foster hugged the angry Old Master Foster and gave a hinting glance at Amelia, who was holding Hailey tightly in her arms. Amelia was the daughter of the Murphy Family and was highly favored at home. As the Murphy and Foster families had a long-standing relationship, it was not permissible to harm Amelia.

Old Master Foster shook off Madam Foster's embrace and his face was dark with anger. "Lock Second Miss in her room and she is not allowed to leave the Foster Family from today onwards!"

Madam Foster sighed and turned away, her eyes filled with disappointment as she looked at Hailey. Mia, who was squatting next to Hailey, couldn't help but say, "Hailey, you are so foolish. How could you have a relationship with a stranger? Don't you know that you are engaged to Caleb?"

Hailey gritted her teeth and looked up at Mia with a cold glint in her eyes. "Sister, we celebrated our birthday together yesterday. I got drunk and disappeared. Why didn't you notice?"
