He didn't just fall in love; He built a life to reach him, own him, and possess him. Five years ago, Julian Castellane watched superstar Kai Reyes standing on the balcony of a Denver hotel, his eyes filled with pain, but he smiled at his fans. All he saw was a man in agony and pain, and despite it all, it was love at first sight. Julian engineered his path, his university, his mining business, his entire future for one purpose: a single, seemingly accidental meeting with Kai Adrian Reyes in Aspen. Kai Reyes is a world-famous superstar drowning in expectations, and when he meets the calm, unbothered owner of a Cabin, on the slopes of Aspen, he thinks he's finally found someone genuine. Someone who doesn't want anything from him. But their secret relationship and intense connection are built on Julian’s master plan. As pressure mounts from Kai’s agency and sponsor partners and Julian’s controlling family, the truth threatens to tear them apart. When Julian’s secret comes to light, Kai must make a choice: was Julian’s five years of planning the ultimate act of devotion, or the ultimate deception?

ASPEN

KAI'S POV

The cold, freezing weather in Aspen hit my face as I made my way through the blizzard after a fight with my assistant, Marcus Chen, and my bodyguard, Diego Silva. Once we arrived at the St Regis Aspen Resort an hour earlier after dusk. I hated the fact that I had to attend this shoot for Rolling Stone Magazine that my manager, Priya Andrade, had organized.

As a star in the movie and music industry, everyone wanted a piece of what I could give and to control me. That is why I had hired Sofia Reyes, my sister, who was three years older than me to handle my Social Media, with the Andrade Agency to handle the PR and mostly my listening ear when things got thick.

But right now I hated it. I was feeling suffocated and annoyed at the same time. I wanted distance before the shoot tomorrow to get my emotions in order. Hence, I walked out of the hotel in a mask and hat, with an assurance that no one would recognize me, as I rarely visited Aspen in the last four years.

I moved to a corner of a building, hiding my face, and took out the cigarette to light it, watching the way the snow blizzard picked up and enjoying a piece of quiet as the streets were close to empty at this time of the night. I have no idea how long I stood there leaning on the wall after the last puff and the light of the cigarette went out. But it was nice to be alone and away from the stardom madness that usually followed me, and this was a precious moment that I craved once in a while.

I closed my eyes and breathed in the night air and smirked at how peaceful it was as I turned back with the plan to head to the hotel and collided with a massive chest. I staggered back and came into contact with a hard chest, and I took a step back ready to apologize, but the view in front of me took my breath away.

The man standing infront of me had one of those faces that felt less like flesh and blood and more like some flawlessly designed and it was his eyes their specific, unsettling shade of dark hazel that truly paralyzed me, staring right through all the noise surrounding me like I was looking into a bottomless, still ocean that could swallow my entire, chaotic life whole and never show so much as a ripple and the end game of it was a peace I had never experienced.

" Sorry," He spoke up. His voice reached my ears, a deliberate hum that felt less like a conversation and more like a quiet vibration I could feel right in my chest. " I did not see you there"

My breath caught under the mask that I was wearing, and I took another step back to look at him. He was a few inches taller than me, and he had a black Marvin cap on. My mouth moved, but nothing came out, and he stood there waiting for me to speak.

I had no idea what possessed me, but I took off one string of the face mask behind my ear and then stared at him as his eyes remained calm and spoke up, " I should be the one to apologize. I was lost in thought and did not look at where I was going"

" Sure," He responded, and a slow, soft smile began in his dark hazel eyes before subtly lifting the corners of his mouth. " Be careful; the snow does pick up fast in the night," He then gestured at the ground in front of us and at the sides.

I could only nod, and then I was finally aware of my surroundings. The snow had picked up fast, and where I had walked a few hours ago was filled with ankle-high snow depth.

" Sh*t," I cursed out and then heard a small chuckle escape from him. When I turned to look at him, our eyes clashed, and the sensation hit my body from head to toe. For a second, my heartbeat, my breath just… stopped, stuck somewhere in the back of my throat.

I watched as he slowly extended his gloved hand. " I am Julian "

I could only nod as I extended my hand and then whispered, " I am Kai".

I wondered if he did not recognize me or if he was just pretending. My brows furrowed, and then it was like he read my mind and then pointed out, " I know you, Kai Reyes. "

His statement made me laugh, and I looked away before speaking up, " My fans are usually crazy, and Its suprisingly to get someone who knows me and is as composed as you"

He took a step towards me and whispered, " I am trembling with excitement inside." I realized he was flirting when his dark hazel eyes suddenly dropped to my lips, lingering just long enough for me to notice, before slowly lifting back to mine with this knowing, devastating focus that made the entire blizzard disappear around us.

" Wow," I whispered, removed the mask completely, and crushed it in my hands as I stared at Julian.

" What?" He moved closer, and his brows furrowed.

" I was so lost in thought that I did not realize the snow had picked up," I deflected, but the truth is that I wanted to move close and kiss him senseless and drown in his eyes and handsome face.

" Where are you staying? I brought my truck along; I can give you a ride?" He nodded, but his face spoke so many volumes of want and need.

" The Regis," I whispered, and the devil must have possessed me as I took a step towards him and closed the gap between us.

My gloved hand came up, grabbed his jacket, and pulled him down, bringing our faces inches from each other, and hot air escaped my mouth, matching his, and for a second we shared the same breath.

"Kai." The words escaped his mouth as he watched me with fascination, his hazel eyes sinking deeper, and his nostrils flared as he watched me like a predator waiting for a move on his prey.

"I would love for you to give me a ride back to the hotel," I whispered back.

GIVING HIM A RIDE

JULIAN'S POV

The wait was finally over.

It took 6 months for Rolling Stone to agree to have the shoot with Kai Reyes in Aspen. I had plotted, planned, stalked him, pushing and pulling strings until finally it happened. I flew to Aspen a month early to prepare, bought a cabin, and set it up ready for Kai's arrival. I followed his schedule and found out where he would stay and how long the shoot would be.

I was obsessed.

I was in Love

He belonged to me, I chanted when the day arrived, and his plane touched down in Aspen. I hovered near the St Regin hotel for hours and watched when his entourage arrived. I breathed a sigh of relief when I spotted him amongst his assistant and bodyguard.

I went for a snack in the hotel restaurant, and after I chose to hover in for an hour or two, that is when I spotted him sneaking out and leaving the hotel on foot.

I had fol
