Zoey gave everything to the Alpha she loved. He repaid her by leading her into the woods... to kill her and the unborn child she carried. Branded a traitor and left for dead, the powerless Omega flees to the one place no wolf dares to enter—the Lycan Kingdom. Forced to serve as a lowly maid in the castle of the feared Lycan King, Sebastian Bancroft, Zoey struggles to remain invisible... until the King discovers that the insignificant Omega is hiding an ancient bloodline powerful enough to change the fate of every pack. Now, the Alpha who tried to murder her will do anything to get her back. But the Lycan King has no intention of giving up the woman he has claimed. And this time... Zoey refuses to be anyone's victim.
Chapter 1
Zoey
“Wait a second... are you telling me that I...?” The words caught in my throat, refusing to come out. Marcus and I had been trying for three years for this to happen, and finally...
“That’s right, Luna. That’s exactly what I’m saying. You’re pregnant.”
My eyes filled with tears. It was absolute happiness, the one thing we still needed to make us a completely happy couple.
A pup.
At last!
I watched as the midwife finished her examination.
“But why? I mean... how is it that I didn’t know sooner? I should have known I was pregnant, shouldn’t I? My scent should have changed,” I said, afraid she might be mistaken, but she quickly made me realize why I hadn’t noticed.
“An omega’s sense of smell is much less acute,” she explained, blushing slightly, and I knew how uncomfortable it must be for her to point out that her Luna belonged to the lowest rank in the hierarchy. “But as the pregnancy progresses, the hormonal changes will become much stronger. Even a...” She stopped herself before finishing the sentence.
“I understand,” I replied, putting an end to the subject.
It was far from common for an omega to hold the position I did, but a series of unlikely events had brought me here—to become Alpha Marcus’s wife, the leader of the Green Moon Pack.
When I turned eighteen, I never received my wolf, as was common among those of our weakest rank. Instead, that very day I received a special gift, one I kept entirely to myself and never told anyone about—not even my closest friends at the orphanage where I grew up, since I lost both my parents at a young age.
When I concentrate hard enough, I can turn back time by up to two minutes. That’s the furthest I’ve ever managed.
That was how I knew in advance which questions Luna Abigail, Alpha Marcus’s mother, was going to ask me when she was interviewing candidates for a maid’s position at the pack house—a job that guaranteed a good roof over my head, regular meals, and excellent pay for someone of my rank. Whenever I realized one of my answers hadn’t satisfied her, I would concentrate, rewind time, and answer differently.
“Very well, my dear,” she said with satisfaction when the interview ended, after I had relied on my gift four times. “I can see you’re the right one. When can you start?”
I started that very day.
Only a week later, I noticed Alpha Marcus beginning to pay attention to me. He was young and single. Less than a year earlier, he had inherited the pack after his father’s untimely death. I never imagined I could be anything more than a passing affair—or, at best, the Alpha’s mistress.
So I was completely stunned when one day, after giving me a pair of earrings, he said:
“My mother approves.”
“What? What do you mean she approves? Of me becoming your mistress?”
I was furious. I had no intention of accepting that, and I was about to hand the earrings back when he smiled—a smile capable of melting my heart—and explained.
“No, nothing like that. My love for you is real. I would never make you my mistress. I want you to be my wife, Zoey. And although I admit it surprised me too, my mother agreed that I should marry you.”
I must have pinched myself a hundred times before I believed I wasn’t dreaming.
And sure enough, one week later we were married. I became Luna, and the fairy tale I had never dared imagine—not even in my wildest fantasies—finally began.
Now that dream was receiving the one thing it had been missing.
A pup.
The future heir to the pack and the living proof of the bond that united me to Marcus, the man who still gave me butterflies every time I watched him undress before we made love.

I hummed to myself as I prepared the dinner with which we would celebrate not only our second wedding anniversary, but also the news I planned to tell Marcus that night when he asked why I wasn’t drinking any wine.
He was going to be a father.
I had just put the ham in the oven when Victoria walked in. She had been my best friend ever since I arrived at the pack house.
“What’s got you so happy?” she asked after stealing a bite from one of the muffins I had just baked.
“Today is our second anniversary,” I said with a smile while stopping her from sneaking a second one.
“Mmm, right... although, I don’t know...”
Something was clearly bothering her.
“What is it?”
“Well... I happen to know the Alpha is going to be pretty busy tonight.”
Victoria was Marcus’s Gamma, though that had never stopped us from becoming close friends. She knew his schedule better than anyone. Over the past few months, it had become common for him to come home late—or sometimes not spend the night at the pack house at all. They were working on an ambitious project, though I knew very little about it.
I sighed.
“If you speak to him, tell him it’s important that he comes home early today. Don’t mention our anniversary. If he doesn’t remember, I’ll understand. He’s a busy Alpha and probably has a thousand other things on his mind. But... there’s something else.”
“Something else?” she asked, intrigued.
I blushed.
“It’s a surprise I want to tell him, but it’s only for him, okay?”
Victoria pursed her lips, clearly annoyed because she knew I wasn’t going to tell her.
“All right. I’ll let him know. I have to go now.” She glanced at her phone. “Everything smells amazing. I’m sure you two will have a wonderful evening.”
I watched her leave before hurrying to take the ham out of the oven.

I was dying to have a glass of wine as I continued waiting with dinner already served for Marcus to come home.
I looked at the clock again.
10:45 p.m.
I was just about to give up when I heard his footsteps in the hallway.
I nearly jumped out of my chair.
“Love, you made it!” I exclaimed happily as I hurried to greet him.
But he looked at me with obvious displeasure.
I blamed it on the stress he had been carrying for months ever since that ambitious project had begun.
“What’s all this?” he asked, letting his eyes wander around the dining room.
“I prepared all this for us because today we’re celebrating...”
I expected him to finish the sentence.
He didn’t.
“Celebrating what?” he asked sharply.
“Our anniversary, love,” I replied with a smile, hoping it would help him relax. “Today marks two years.”
The confusion on his face was unmistakable.
“I’m sorry. I forgot.” He paused before adding, “Anyway, Zoey... there’s something I need to tell you. And it has to be now.”
I didn’t like his tone.
Even less the paleness of his face.
I knew instantly it wasn’t going to be good news.
So I decided to speak before he could, convinced that what I had to tell him would be enough to overcome whatever problem he was about to reveal.
“Wait. Let me go first.”
He looked at me in surprise, and I took advantage of his silence.
“I’m pregnant!”
If Marcus had looked exhausted a second earlier, now his expression became that of a man carrying an unbearable burden on his shoulders.
“What? What did you just say?” he asked, as though he had just heard the worst news of his life. “No... no, that can’t be! Not now!”
I didn’t understand what he meant by not now, but what truly unsettled me was the way he was reacting.
“It’s what we’ve always wanted, love,” I insisted. “We’re going to have a baby. We’re going to have a pup.”
Marcus wasn’t reacting the way I had imagined.
Quite the opposite.
He looked desperate.
Then, after several long seconds, he seemed to calm down. He looked at me tenderly, and just like that, the distress vanished from his face.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have reacted like that. It’s just... everything. The project. The stress of the past few weeks...”
“I understand, love...”
“You know what? We have to celebrate this. Not only is it our anniversary, but now we have your pregnancy to celebrate too. Let’s go out. Let’s have dinner at a restaurant.”
“But, love... dinner is already...”
“We’ll eat it tomorrow. Tonight I want us to celebrate.”
He convinced me.
Marcus was once again the loving, charming man I had fallen in love with.
I wasn’t about to ruin that by insisting he eat a meal that had taken me five hours to prepare.
What were five hours compared to getting my husband back?
We got into the car and drove several miles.
I noticed we were heading toward the edge of the pack’s territory, and I assumed there must be a restaurant or a scenic overlook still open at that hour—or perhaps he had planned a surprise for me.
So when he asked me to get out of the car, I did without asking any questions.
“What’s here? Have you planned something?” I asked when the silence began to make me uneasy.
Then I heard the sound of fabric tearing.
A second later, he was on top of me, transformed into a massive, powerful beast against whom I stood no chance.
He attacked me with fury.
With rage.
With desperation.
“Marcus! What are you doing?” I screamed as his teeth sank into my leg.
Then he turned on my stomach.
Mercilessly.
“No! Our pup! What are you doing?”
I did everything I could.
But I was an omega who didn’t even have a wolf.
I couldn’t shift.
I couldn’t even run.
I had no chance.
He tore my body apart.
He ripped open my abdomen.
And with my final breath, I focused.
I turned back time as far as I possibly could, returning to the exact moment he attacked me.
Knowing what was coming, I rolled aside.
His first bite only grazed me.
Even so, the wound was horrific, and it sent me crashing to the ground.
Then I saw my only escape.
Desperation pushed me beyond all reason.
I threw myself off the cliff that I had so foolishly believed was a lovers' lookout.
I jumped.
And the void swallowed me.
Chapter 2
Zoey
I tumbled down the hillside, crashing into rocks and branches with every roll, but the worst part was the horrifying realization that Marcus had jumped after me.
He was determined to kill me.
But why?
Why was he doing this?
I didn’t have to wait long for my answer.
“You just had to get pregnant now, Zoey! Right when I was about to end things with you!”
What?
What was he talking about?
Why would he end things with me?
And why now, after I had just given him the wonderful news about the baby?
“This was supposed to be the moment I started my life with my mate. But you just had to get pregnant and ruin everything. I was only going to reject you. You could have stayed in the pack, but no—you had to resort to this filthy trick to tie me to you.”
He caught me.
I felt his powerful claws close around me.
I was so battered and weak that there was nothing I could do to stop him from
