Chapter 1. Lila and Alonzo
Lila
Pow! Ken, Lila's boyfriend gave her a hard backhand. He smacked her face so hard that he left a red mark. She knew she was going to have an embarassing, hard-to-explain, contusion on her face after that hit. "Where were you last night?! I called and called your phone. Did you turn it off while you were scr*wing some loser, you sl*t!" yelled Ken.
"Stop it, I didn't do anything. I was out with friends and my phone died. That's all," pleaded Lila. Lila had cascading, wavy, long brown hair and piercing blue eyes. She was a classic beauty that men just drooled over, which summons her boyfriend's violent jealousy. Her figure was slender and curvy in all the right places that men just love. Ken detested the attention that men paid to her. He always dreaded the thought of her cheating. Yet despite his harsh, wicked ways, she stayed loyal to him. She felt compassion toward him. An emotion wasted on a man like him.
"Don't lie to me. You always lie to me," he muttered as he turned away. He went to their room and slammed the door. Lila hated the situation she was in, she wanted to leave him because of how abusive he is, but she first needs a job in order to make money, so she can leave. Right now she was broke and he always insisted she not work. It was just of many ways he trapped her. He wouldn't let her work and make money so that she was impotent to leave. She went to the freezer and got an ice pack to hold against her cheek. She then sat down on the couch and just cried. She felt so caged. She wanted out, but she would have to get a job behind his back.
She stopped herself from crying and decided to take action. While Ken was in his room pouting and listening to rock music, feeling sorry for himself, she would find a job. He was gone working during the day anyways. He won't know as long as she can leave after him and get home before him. He worked from eight am to six pm, so she would need to work within those hours and find something close. She looked online on a job finder app. She found a job as an administrative assistant. She would prepare her resume now and go in and apply tomorrow. She had experience as an administrative assistant before she met Ken. She quit her job at his request because she thought she was in love. She was in love with an illusion. Everything she thought he was, he wasn't. It would feel good to be independent and single again. No more abuse. No more chaos.
Once she finished typing up and printing her resume, she hid it. She finished just in time because Ken came out for another beer. He went in with a six pack and this is his seventh, not to mention all those beers he drank before they fought. Well, he fought, she took it. But, soon, no more. She was going to save money and get out once and for all.
"What are you doing just sitting there?" he asked before going to his room. "Were you texting your boyfriends?" he asked as he yanked her hair from behind and pulled her head back so she was looking at him. He then snarled out a few more expletives as he returned to their room and shut the door. She pulled out her phone to do some reading and just waited for bedtime.
The following morning, Lila put on a form-fitting, but classy, skirt, a white button down blouse, and a coat that matched her dark blue skirt. She put on matching heels, grabbed her resume and headed down to the company called Ames Marketing. She had to call for a car because she didn't even have her own car. When she got there, she went down to the Human Resources department to drop off her resume and apply for the job. "Mr. Ames is looking for a administrative assistant urgently. He has been interviewing girls all day, but wasn't interested in any of them. If you stay right here, I can squeeze you in for an interview today," said the human resources employee.
She waited only for a little while before they called her in to speak with the head of the company, himself. She knew the job was for an administrative assisstant, she had no idea it was for the head of company. She was already nervous, now her bundle of nerves have twisted into a nest of nerves. She took deep breaths, trying to calm herself. Mr. Ames opened the door, and said, "Mrs. Layvour, you can come in now," he said. His voice was sultry, deep. He had tan skin, dark brown hair that was cut short, making him look even more masculine. Massive muscles strained the white button shirt he wore. She could see on the edge of his neck and forearms that he had tattoos. He was a giant at six foot seven. His face was strong, inviting, perfection. He was breath-taking. If Lila thought she was anxious before, now she was speechless. This man was the epitome of masculinity. He was arousing, sensual, mouthwatering. She hungered for him. She had never felt so drawn to a man in her life. It was more than atraction, it was a magnetic pull to this gorgeous man. He looked up at her and he paused as if he recognized her. His breath hitched as she walked by him and into his office.
"Mrs. Layvour, I see from your resume that you have experience. That's good. Where are you from?" he asked in that voice that made her melt. She tried to focus on his words.
"I live in Boulder City, NV. I am only twenty six miles away from Las Vegas," she said. She sat poised, looking confident, professional, but inside she was a puddle of lusty goo. She was so drawn to this man that she wanted to go and start making out with him right there. She had to stifle her fantansies so she could hear what he was saying. Plus, a man like this is no doubt taken. Lesser men, with good looks, are always taken. This one definately belonged to some gorgeous woman somewhere. A pang of jealousy twitched at her heart at the thought.
"What brings you in here? Why do you want to be an administrative assistant?" he asked.
"It is a very demanding job and I like to be kept busy. I'm never bored as an adminstrative assisstant. I also take on several duties, so that my boss has more time to accomplish the many tasks he has to tend to. I like that," she said.
The interview did not go on for long before Mr. Ames said, "You're hired. You start tomorrow at nine and work until five. Will that work for you?"
"Absolutely," she said. "Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity. You won't be disappointed."
Chapter 2 Mine
Alonzo
"I finally found her. My Mate. Her scent was like spring flowers and vanilla. It was intoxicating. She was so stunning that she took my breath away. I looked for so long for my Mate and here she was in the human world. My heart hungered for her. I wanted to throw her on the desk and ravish her right there, but I had to conceal my yearning for her. She made me feel like a caged beast, trying with all my strength to resist her pull," he thought. The one word that kept running through his mind was, "Mine."
"What are your strengths for this position," he asked as natural as can be, concealing his inner animal that wanted to make her experience such unbridled passion that she screamed his name.
"I am a hard worker. I put forth a lot of effort in everything I do. I also can manage many tasks at a time,: she answered so nonchalantly. He wondered if she felt the magnetic pull that he felt toward here. He would have to play it cool and keep his feelings at bay
