"And if a vampire offered you a second chance at life, but it came with a curse... would you take it?" "A curse?" "More like... a transformation. Becoming something neither fully vampire nor werewolf." "You mean... a hybrid?" "Exactly. And caught between love, betrayal, and a destiny you never asked for." "What would you do?" "I'd become the monster they feared... or the hero they never expected." ~Story of my life~ A twisted love, a family that wants me dead, and a wolf crushing for the man who wants to kill me because he believes i killed his father. My f*cken wolf is his mate and I am in love with a vampire. Why won't I kill myself? Guess what, I'm a hybrid, too hot to die.
PROLOGUE
The night was heavy with silence, save for the occasional rustle of the wind through the trees that guarded Marlowe Falls. It was barely 7:30 p.m., but the darkness felt more profound tonight. Across the borders of Marlowe Falls was the werewolf country, where all werewolf packs found refuge and lived by a shared sacred rule: no werewolf above eighteen should step foot in the neighboring human countries. Starting with the Wolvox Pack, strongest among all, every pack ensured its wolves observed this rule; otherwise, the lycans were forced to step in and punish the alphas of the packs.
On this auspicious night, a cold weather seemed to settle over the Wolvox Pack territory, one that not even the Alpha, Kian Murphy, could ignore. Seated in his chamber, Kian’s mind wandered to his mate and their newborn daughter. They were his world, his legacy. He would do anything to protect them. Although their little girl was less than a week old, he was already thinking about her future and how to keep her safe when the time comes for her to live among the humans for school’s sake.
A violent knock shattered his reverie. Kian got up, his voice tinged with impatience as he spoke. "Enter," he was slightly angry because he had just begun to relax after a tough day and was hoping for some time off Alpha duties.
The door squeaked open, showing a wildly disorganized person. Before him stood a woman, Elise, the servant of his mate. Her hair was a mess, matted with twigs and dirt, and her dress was torn, stained with sweat and dried leaves. Her chest heaved as if she had been running, and her face—oh, her face—was streaked with tears and terror.
“Alpha,” she gasped, her voice trembling.
Kian got up, his brows clouding over. "What happened? Why do you look so... disheveled?"
“I-I—” Elise stammered, her eyes searching around as if fearing someone would appear from behind her. “Your mate... the Luna... she—she chased me through the woods... threatened to kill me.”
Kian's eyes narrowed, confusion carving lines all over his face. “What do you mean the Luna attacked you? Why would she do that? And she's not strong enough yet.”
Elise trembled. “Because I told her I couldn’t keep her secrets anymore.”
Kian took a step forward, a low growl vibrating in his chest. “What secrets?”
The servant hesitated, wrapping her hands together. “Alpha… I can't… If she finds out I spoke to you, she’ll kill me. She said so herself. I have a family. I don’t want to die.”
Alpha Kian’s voice dropped to a deadly whisper when he replied. “You will tell me everything, and that is an order.”
Elise got slightly frightened but nodded, her voice coming out very low. “The Luna’s child... It isn’t yours, your Majesty.”
Kian froze, clearly not expecting such a response. He took a step forward, his eyes looking deeply into hers. “What did you say?”
“The child... she... she’s been having an affair.” Elise’s voice cracked as she continued. “I’ve seen them together three times. I never saw the man’s face—it was always concealed. But the scent—I caught it once. He’s from a rival pack in certain.”
Kian’s fists clenched. Rage was boiling up inside him like magma that burned too hot to contain. “You’re lying.”
“I’m not!” Elise cried out, tears streaming down her face. “I warned her.”
“Lilah wouldn’t do something like that. Who set you up to this?” Alpha Kian questioned, gripping the neckline of her dress.
“I swear it on my life. I told her to stop, but she wouldn’t listen. She only started threatening me after she found out she was with a child. That’s why... that’s why the Luna and I haven’t been close for the past nine months.”
Kian's blood boiled as he let go of her and took a step back. Not long ago, one of his betas, Dorian, informed him about seeing the Luna with a man in the woods, but Kian had ignored it because he knew he had just left her in her chambers and also that she wouldn’t break his order for her not to go anywhere for hers and the child’s safety.
“Do you have any proof of this?” he asked Elise.
She shook her head violently, backing away. “No, Alpha. I was too afraid. If she knew I was gathering proof, she would have killed me on the spot. And if she finds out I’m here, I’m as good as dead. I have no choice but to leave the pack. I came here to inform you respectfully that as of now, I lay down my job as the servant of her Majesty, my Luna, and as a member of this pack. I’m sorry, but it is for my safety. I have to go.”
“Nobody is leaving,” Kian growled. “I will get the truth from her myself, and if I find out that she has really been unfaithful, there will be consequences.”
Reaching out with the mind link, Kian’s voice invaded the Luna’s thoughts. Come. Bring your child with you.
Elise gasped upon noticing the alpha’s sudden quietness, which only meant he was speaking to Lilah. “No, Alpha,” Elise pleaded, “please! Don’t summon her. If she sees me—”
“You will not be harmed,” Kian said coldly. “You’re not the first to bring this to my attention. If the Luna has been unfaithful, she will pay for breaking the pack’s sacred law and for disrespecting me.”
Without looking at her, Kian ordered, “Go. Fetch the betas. There will be an execution tonight.”
Elise’s lips trembled, but she nodded and rushed out. As she left the chambers and the trouble Alpha behind, she found Beta Dorian waiting right outside, a sly grin spreading across his face as he saw her.
“It worked,” Elise whispered. “The Alpha believes me.”
Dorian gave a contented laugh. “Good. With the Luna gone, you’ll have your chance to become his mate, and I’ll climb higher within the pack.”
The two exchanged conspiratorial smiles before they went to find the Luna.

Lilah, Luna of the pack, sat in her chamber cradling her daughter when Elise and Dorian entered. The looks on their faces caused her mood to swing instantly.
“The Alpha has a surprise for you,” Elise said with a smirk. “Believe me, sweetheart, it will be bloody.”
Lilah frowned, her eyes jumping from Elise to Dorian, then back to Elise. “What did you do, Elise?”
“That’s for slapping me, you spoiled wench,” Elise retorted.
Lilah’s heart raced, and she scooped her child into her arms. “Whatever you have planned, mateless, you won’t succeed. I have faith in the goddess that you will lose.”
Elise came closer to her, giving her a cold look. “If you’re not afraid, why are you so worried, Luna?” A cold laughter resounded from her lips, causing Lilah to shiver.
Without a word, Lilah stormed out, holding her daughter close, while her heart kept pounding as she approached the training ground. There, the pack had gathered, and all eyes were fixed on her while others whispered rumors. At the center of it all stood Alpha Kian, next to a blazing bonfire.
Lilah shrieked upon seeing the look in Kian's eyes. “Kian, what is going on?”
Beta Dorian interrupted her. “You’ve been stripped of your title as Luna, and thus you must speak with respect when addressing our alpha, woman.”
Lilah’s eyes widened as two betas approached her. With the burning desire to clarify whatever was going on, she fiercely fended them off, stepping back toward the fire.
“Kian!” she screamed. “What are you doing? You certainly didn’t believe anything that wh*r* said. She is manipulative and-”
“And you disgust me.” Kian spoke, his voice thunderous from and the look on his face one she had never seen before. “You think I don’t know what you’ve done? Pretending all this time.”
Lilah shook her head, her voice breaking. “I haven’t done anything! You have to believe me!”
“That is what I’ve done all this time, but what have you done? Gone behind my back and laid with our rivals, and now you present me with a child, hoping that I will accept it because I’m stupid?” Kian growled.
“That is not true.”
“Two witnesses have testified against you, Lilah, and so has the pack’s seer, and you dare stand here to lie to us? Burn her.” Kian ordered.
“Kian, please!” she begged, tears spilling over. “If you don’t believe me, take me to the human world; they have technologies more advanced. Let them test our blood. If our daughter isn’t yours, I’ll surrender myself to the flames. But if she is yours... then you’ll know the truth, please, Alpha.”
Elise, who had been watching just as everyone else, feared being exposed as she hadn’t thought about this option. She quickly stepped forward. Fear creeping into her expression. If they tested the blood, it would reveal the truth. She couldn’t let that happen.
“No, Alpha!” Elise shouted. “What if her affair was with a human? Testing the blood won’t prove anything! And besides, it’s a full moon; going to the human world isn’t safe. It will be considered an act of war.”
Kian’s fury ignited once more. “Enough! Dalas, Dorian, bring the child to me. She dies first.”
Lilah screamed, her heart breaking as she clutched her daughter tighter. “No! Please, stop!”
Kian’s face remained unmoved. “Take them both then.”
In a final act of desperation, Lilah reached into her pocket and threw down a small object. Smoke exploded around them, blinding everyone around her. She bolted, running through the woods, her daughter wailing in her arms. But the betas and Kian were soon right behind her.
As she emerged from the forest onto a winding road, Lilah spotted headlights. A limousine came speeding toward her. Without hesitation, she stepped into its path, protecting her child with her body as the car struck her.
The car screeched to a halt, and the driver and a man in a tuxedo rushed out.
“Madam, are you alright?!” The man cried, kneeling beside her.
Blood pooled around Lilah as she grabbed the man’s hand and pressed a necklace into his palm. “Please… Take my daughter. Run. Save her.”
The urgency in her voice terrified the two men. The driver scooped up the child, and without a second thought, he rushed the child into the car.
“Hurry, let’s get her to the hospital.” The man in tux said, urgently motioning to the driver.
“No! Go. Now.” Lilah yelled and began to cough out blood. “They’re coming; save her.”
On the road up ahead, a loud howl echoed through the night, reaching the three. Wolves began to emerge out of the forest, heading towards the border where soldiers held their guns at ready. Sounds of gunshots and howls mixed up in a torturous symphony, causing the strangers beside Lilah to shriek. They quickly got into the lemo and sped away, leaving Lilah on the road, bleeding out.
Moments later, when the noises had seized, Kian appeared, towering over her with disgust. “You deserve worse.”
With a final, cold glare, he turned and ordered his pack to return to their territory, leaving Lilah to die on the road.

Kayla's POV
18 years later, Marlowe Falls
I sat in the third row of our history class, a few seats away from my stepsister, Maddie. The teacher's voice droned on about ancient civilizations, but I was ready for the answer to his question. My hand shot up before anyone else’s.
"Kayla?" Mr. Peterson called, his tone expectant.
"The fall of Rome was due to a combination of internal decay and external invasions," I answered confidently.
“Correct, as always,” Mr. Peterson said with a smile, but it didn't escape me when Maddie, sitting just a couple seats to my left, rolled her eyes. She leaned back in her seat and gave a gentle laugh.
Maddie always tried to act smart in class, but everyone knew she preferred to coast by on charm and her looks rather than effort. To her, being witty or pretty was enough. And to be honest, sometimes it was.
I winced when she casually n
