Annotation

What if I discover the disabled Alpha I’m contracted to marry is my second-chance mate? “My sweet Amelia, please,” her father whispered, voice raw with desperation. “Sign the contract. Bear his heir. One year only, then you’re free to come home.” Amelia Garcia, daughter of Alpha Ernesto, had long endured relentless cruelty from her stepbrother Nicholas. But when he publicly rejected her as his fated mate, it shattered her heart—and that was just the beginning. Fleeing into the night, devastated, she returned to a reality far more brutal. A war with a rival pack raged, forcing her father into a desperate bargain: Amelia must marry the cold-hearted and disabled Alpha Aaron Vasquez to end the war. Cursed by the Moon Goddess, Alpha Aaron suffers from wolf-form amnesia, a rare condition that erases his memories with every shift—that hasn’t dulled his fearsome reputation. Bound to a wheelchair yet capable of ruthless strength, he’s a paradox Amelia can’t unravel. Reluctantly signing the contract, she discovers a shattering truth: Alpha Aaron is her second-chance mate. But as she confronts her growing feelings for him, Amelia learns that Aaron’s lingering love for his ex-mate could shatter their fated connection—and their future. What Amelia doesn’t know is that the man she’s been forced to marry may be the very one determined to kill her father.

Chapter 1: Her Birth

Ernesto's POV

"Alpha Ernesto, it's... it's a girl, sir," I heard the soft voice of our eldest doctor say.

I had been up all night and all day waiting for this moment. My wife, Amelia, was the love of my life. We had been together since our high school years, and though we waited a long time to have a baby, I couldn’t have been happier.

I stood, looking at the doctor holding that tiny bundle. I could hear the soft coo of my precious baby as I took a step forward. She was so small, so fragile, so... perfect.

"A girl... she's beautiful," I said as I gently took her in my arms, letting out a long sigh.

But just like that... my happiness changed.

"Doctor, quick, our Luna... something is wrong. Her heart rate is increasing, and she's going into shock!" a younger doctor said as she rushed past me.

Everything happened so fast. My eyes filled with tears as my heart sank.

"What is happening?" I asked, looking at them frantically.

"Alpha, please, we need you to leave the room," she said as I glanced over to where my wife, Amelia, lay. Her body was convulsing, making my wolf growl. He was always overprotective of her, even though she wasn’t our fated mate.

She was still the love of our lives, and right now, she looked as if she was teetering between life and death. "Agatha, what is happening? Tell me!" I demanded, glaring at the older doctor with anger.

"Jodie, take the baby to the neonatal ward. Alpha, please... we don’t know what’s happening, but you need to calm down."

"Calm down? Calm down? My wife is convulsing in there, and you’re sticking tubes and needles into her, and you’re telling me to calm down? I want answers, RIGHT NOW!" I roared, using my Alpha tone.

"Please, Alpha, we can’t say exactly what’s happening right now. You need to give us space to figure it out. Leave the area, Alpha. Let us do our job. I promise I will take good care of her," she said, pressing a hand to my chest in an effort to push me out.

But it was no use... My eyes widened in horror, my heart dropping as I heard her heart monitor shift from a rapid pace to a flat, deathly tone. Her heart had stopped, and I watched as her eyes went from lively joy to an empty void. They tried again and again, resuscitating her, pressing on her chest as they performed CPR, then shocking her with the defibrillator. But time and time again, the deafening flatline tone persisted on the screen.

"Save her... I demand you save her!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, seeing blood everywhere and the doctors working tirelessly on her to no avail. Desperation surged inside me.

"I’m sorry, Alpha. We... we lost her," Agatha said, her voice breaking as she cried. Her hands and doctor’s gown were covered in my wife’s blood.

"No... no... Amelia... AMELIA!" I screamed, feeling my world shatter. I cried, overwhelmed by desperation. My guards tried to hold me back, but I roared in anger and pushed past them.

"AMELIA!" I yelled, grabbing her lifeless body. That was the day I lost my one true love.

"Alpha, your daughter still needs you. You need to be strong for her. Our Luna would have wanted you to be happy, sir," my Beta says as I sit silently in my room. "It's been three days since we buried our Luna, sir. You are yet to name the baby," he reminds me, emphasizing that my dear wife left me a precious bundle behind.

Between my wife's death and her funeral, I had forgotten about our baby. "What will you name her, sir?" my Beta asks as he holds my daughter. I look at her in his arms, and I instantly fill with jealousy. She is all my wife left me, and I will be sure to cherish her.

I take her gently from his arms, gazing at my sleeping daughter. She has light brown hair like her mother. I hadn't noticed the tiny mole on her right hand, right where it bends—just like her mother's.

"You look so much like Mommy, my little Amelia. That's your name now, little one. Amelia, like her mother," I declare proudly, giving her a kiss on her forehead.

(Eighteen years later)

Amelia's POV

I sat at my desk, waiting for the last bell to ring. I was a day away from turning eighteen, and I was eager to go home.

I had never been as thrilled to go home as I was today. Why? Because tomorrow, during my eighteenth birthday, I was finally going to become the Alpha of my pack.

I wasn't just excited to lead The Full Moon Pack; no, I was especially excited because this meant that I was finally going to be able to get out of my dad's home—the place of my torment.

When I was small, things were happy and perfect, even though it was just my dad and me. But it was the best. I never got to meet my mom; she had died a few moments after I was born. They said she had complications. And though Dad suffered her loss, he never once treated me as anything less than important. He was a great father figure to me.

Everything changed the moment I turned fourteen when he married again.

That's when his new wife, Jocelyn, and Jocelyn's son, Nicholas, came into our lives.

It's more than obvious that Jocelyn and her son Nicholas despise me. Dad tries to turn a blind eye because he truly cares about Jocelyn, and I know he cares about me too. However, I can't help but be upset about how biased he acts when he sees them being rude to me.

Some pack members have said that he's no longer the strong and ruthless leader he once was. He's gotten soft and weak. If I'm being honest... I believe it. He acts tough in front of people, but I can tell he tries his hardest to avoid confrontations with anyone, especially with Jocelyn.

He'd always make excuses for their actions toward me. He'd excuse Jocelyn's volatile behavior toward me, saying it was due to all the stress from having to deal with her Luna duties. "Amelia, sweetheart, give them a chance. They truly do care about you, honey. Just this once, can you let it go?" he'd say time and time again.

But as of tomorrow, things will change. I will be the next Alpha, and I will no longer have to deal with living under that same roof as Jocelyn and Nicholas. I'll move into the pack house and bury myself in pack work and school. Thank goddess that our pack house is far... far away from my dad's house.

Everyone was busy running around decorating and preparing for tomorrow. To make things better, Nicholas had been out of my sight all day, which was a major plus for me. He's the biggest jerk, and I hope he stays the hell away from me throughout the entire ceremony.

The bell finally rang, and a big smile formed on my face as I grabbed my book bag, tossed it over my shoulder, and began to make my way out of the classroom, not waiting a second longer before dashing out of that school.

Chapter 2: 18th Birthday

Amelia's POV

I ran past everyone with a smile. Members of my pack—small and big, men and women—greeted me as I passed by. Unlike in my house, where I felt unwelcome and unwanted, outside of my home, people were genuinely nice to me.

But if they only knew. I hid my scars pretty well... and I mean pretty much.

Jocelyn's favorite game for me was "How long could I last while being burnt with a silver object on my skin?" Or another of her favorite games: injecting me with small doses of wolfsbane. Wolfsbane is like a poison to us werewolves if given at a certain dosage, but not deadly if given in smaller amounts. It was still equally painful, though. It was as if your insides were being torn apart and burnt at the same time. Jocelyn always made sure to inject me in areas where my dad would never notice, and when she did, she made sure to remind me who slept next to my dad at night.

"Don't forget... I can kill him in his sleep, and he won't even see it coming. Besi
