“I, Aubree Andel, reject you, Aasmund, Alpha king of the Golden Moon pack, as my mat-” “Shut up!” “I’ve had enough, Aasmund. Your uncle killed me in my previous life. Your uncle abused me. I was pregnant with his son! I can be mated to the nephew of that man!” “I said the same when I found out my mate was a rogue. People like you killed my parents! D*mn it! But I think it’s too late for me because I can’t and I won’t let you go, Aubree. I’d rather accept you as my Luna than seeing you in the arms of my brother.” ****** When Aubree was burning to death she asked just for one thing: to have the chance to live again and make them pay for what they were doing to her. And Moon Goddess gave her an opportunity. Now that Aubree has woken up on her bed one year before her death it’s time to change the course of her destiny, but what will happen when she finds out she’s mated to the Alpha kings of the kingdom where she died?
PROLOGUE
Just the power of the strongest Luna can make any wolf obey her. And they’ll respond by howling when they are needed.
A special creature was conceived by miracle - the fur of alpha, eyes of the moon, and heart of a human. Neither an alpha nor a human. It’s meant to be the power to those who have lost it.
A special creature was conceived by miracle - with the ability of a human, the power of a rogue, and the heart of a mother. Neither rogue nor human. It’s meant to be the power to those who have never had the power because they offered it when the agreement was made.
The moon will turn red and the Queen and King will be revealed.

“I told you! I told you countless times! I told you, d*mn sl*t! I didn’t want you working with that man. What did you tell him? Why has he come to check on you? Why? Why?!” My stepfather shouted while kicking me in the stomach.
I‘ve cried for so many years, I begged for more than I've thought, and I’ve gotten tired, there’s nothing I can feel right now except for the pain of broken ribs and the burning in my stomach.
A friend of mine, one of the few friends I have, came to check on me because I had gone to the cafeteria where I worked with bruises and scratches in my arms two days ago, and yesterday I didn't go to work, so he was starting to suspect my stepfather. But if only Uriel knew what he’d provoked, I know he wouldn’t have come.
Coughing and putting my hands on my abdomen, I inhaled and exhaled, tears ran down my face.
“Please…”
My stepfather stopped right away, mocking me.
“Finally. I thought you were never going to beg for your life.”
I dragged myself behind the sofa to sit up, but my stepfather followed me.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?!” He pulled my hair, making me scream in pain. “Listen, listen to me, dear, because I'm not going to repeat it twice."
“Auh, please, please, you’re hurting me.”
“If that boyfriend of yours dares to do something against me, I won't stop myself. Did you understand? And if I find out you’re the one having little chats about how kind your father is to you, the one to pay the consequences is going to be you, you get it?!” His voice in my ear made me tremble.
“Y-yes, I… I understand, but please...”
“I’m not going to feel fine with myself if you force me to do something against your new boyfriend, my dear daughter, or do you want me to remind you what I did to that poor little boy who wanted to rescue the little princess?”
Those words made my heart ache. What he had done to that boy who wanted to rescue me from his claws was the bravest thing someone had done for me, but it was also the cause of his end. And not good with that, my stepfather blamed the Golden Moon’s people when the boy's parents came to us, asking for their son because the last person who claimed to have seen him it was me.
Three days later they found their boy at the bank of the river. His face was all scratched, and his thorax and abdomen had been completely destroyed. His death is something I will never forgive myself for. If he hadn’t met me, he would still be alive.
“If you really want me to not do something against your boyfriend, tell him how kind your father has been to you since your mother died, understood? Understood?!”
“Yes! Yes! I get it!”
"And one last thing; don't dress like a sl*t. I have something better for you. Don't mess around with anyone. I want the best for my daughter, you know it, so I have to keep your purity. You know what I mean." He smiled, caressing my chin.
I nodded my head.
“And now go to your room, there’s a little gift I left on the bed for you, then go to the market and find something to have for dinner. We’re having an interesting guest. Seems like my burden always had a price. Go!”
I crawled and when I was at the wooden stairs, I ran to my room. Once I was in, I closed the door, trembling. My chest going up and down made me sit on the old mattress on the floor. I couldn’t help but look at the door, like it was going to open any second, letting me see the hardened expression of my stepfather before he started beating me again.
Some minutes went by, my chest relaxed, and when I was able to focus on other things, aside from my stepfather, I finally felt the pain in my abdomen. Slowly, I pulled up my hoodie, seeing the purple marks around my belly. It looked like a crown of purple flowers around me. This time, it was going to take more days to heal.
I looked around to see if I had some dried leaves from the plant my mom had taught me how to raise. It always helped me to heal faster. When I noticed there was a little red box above the black bag in which I had my clothes. I ran to it and brought the gift with me. This was the first time I received something from my stepfather, aside from the blows, slaps, and insults.
When I opened the box, I realized it was a beautiful dress, like the ones my mom wore; ¾ sleeves, a beige blouse with a white peter pan collar, and the rest of the it brown. A mid-century dress.
“Mom, I have faith in the man you decided to marry. Maybe my father hasn’t gotten over you. Like me.” Some tears fell down on the dress.
I really had faith in my stepfather to change one day. He loved my mother so much that I think he’s still blinded by that pain that he doesn’t see what he does.
Shiny as I rarely felt, I walked through the open air market where my stepfather had asked me to come to buy something delicious for dinner. As incredible as it sounds, he gave me money and didn’t ask for my earnings from last weekend. In his hands, he had many golden coins. Kinda strange coming from him.
“Here you have, Aubree," the old woman said, extending me a bag with fresh meat.
“Thank you, miss.”
“Is it the mourning anniversary of your mother?”
“Actually-”
“Here,” she said, extending me a bouquet of flowers now.
“No, no, I-”
“Please, I insist. I know how your stepfather can be. Please, take this with you and decorate her grave.”
“But-”
“You don’t need to worry, Aubree. We all loved your mother so much. Now, go and give those flowers to your mother."
“But-”
“Shu, shu, I have many clients to serve.” The old lady smiled at me.
I didn’t say anything else, gave her a smile and walked off. It was true, all the people here loved my mother so much.
The rogues, as everyone calls us when we go to another kingdom, live here in peace, we have founded our own market and our own community, and we help each other if one of us needs something. We don’t bother anyone, and we ask the same. My mom told me the story of this community that was formed many, many years ago when the early settlers were betrayed by their people in the kingdom they lived in. They decided to form their own community, so rumors about this place were heard in many other kingdoms, and when someone didn’t agree with the rules set by the kings, they left the pack and came here, looking for a new family. We’re not as savage as others think. We’re kind and honest with each other, and I’m happy I was born here.
The nearest kingdom that can be seen from here is the Golden Moon. They hate us more than any other kingdom, and we don’t know why. We drew that conclusion because a year ago, a group of boys who were training by the river were found hanging from the trees with notes that said: ‘We don’t forget what you did to us. Shortly, the last agreement is going to expire.’
Anyways, I think I’ll put these flowers in a vase, and tomorrow I’ll wake up earlier to go to the cemetery and give my mother these flowers before I go to wor-
My attention was caught when I saw the wooden door of my house open and a sword leaning to the left. I approached the sword in silence. As far as I know, my father doesn’t have any kind of sword in our house.
But what indeed called my attention was the seal on the sword. This was the sail of the Golden Moon kingdom! What was my father doing with something like this?
All of a sudden, I heard laughter coming from the cabin. I ran behind the house, where the kitchen was, and tried to look inside after having climbed up on a stone. My father was with someone else.
“No, no, I insist; the first 30 coins were a gift.”
“But… I- I don’t know what to say.” My father replied shyly.
“Of course you know what to say. Here are the other 2000 golden coins I promised. I hope you can live with this for the rest of your life.”
“I think I won’t need coins if I become your Beta, Your Majesty.”
I covered my mouth with my hands. My father was with the King of the Golden Moon kingdom. How did all this happen?
“Yes, you’re right. You won’t need anything once you're by my side. But where’s she? I’m dying to see how much she has changed. Soon she’ll be 18, and I can risk her finding her mate here. I pretend to make her my chosen mate.”
“Your Majesty, I feel honored.”
“You’ve done a great job with her. Now I can say she’s mine, right? Where’s she?”
The commotion made my feet slide, provoking me to fall on my butt.
I knew I didn’t have time, so I got up and ran into the forest. My stepfather had sold me to the King of the Golden Moon pack.
“Aubree! Aubree!”
I heard my stepfather calling me out.
With blurred vision due to the tears, I kept running and running. I heard footsteps behind me, but I never stopped, I continued running forward. I have to escape, that was all I had in mind. I have to escape and get out of this place. The howls of wolves were drilling my ears, and when I thought I had lost them, I hid behind a tree, trying to catch my breath again.
Yet, with my chest going up and down, I looked behind the tree.
But surely, it was too late for me because someone was already covering my mouth with his hands.
“Hello, dear. I almost thought I had lost my 2000 golden coins.”
Loudly, I tried to scream, but the man dragged me with him. I tried to resist myself, but the man pulled me with more strength.
‘Mom, what did you leave me with that man? What are you allowing this to happen to me?’
SEVEN MONTHS LATER
ELYSIAN POV
Playing with the curls of the woman I had on my chest, I couldn’t stop thinking about Aubree. One more month, and she can be my chosen mate.
“You think so much about her, right? So why don’t you take her out of that dungeon and bring her here to live with you? She’s going to be your mate soon.”
“Come on, Locasta, things aren’t as easy as you think.”
“She’s carrying your son, isn’t she?”
“That wasn’t something I meant. I still don’t know why I have this obsession with her.”
Locasta laughed.
“Really? So what did you expect after abusing her countless times?”
“What are my nephews going to say?”
“You shouldn’t care about what they say. You’ll be king, and their words won’t have any value after that, even if they are the legit sons of the Alpha King.”
“I think I need to check on her.” I got up from the bed.
Suddenly, her laughing caught my attention.
“What? What’s so funny?”
“I thought over time you'd get to know who she is, but I think you’re still a fool to lead this kingdom.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Locasta.” I put on my black robe.
“The unification between the rogues and the alphas. She’s carrying the legend in her belly.”
For an instant, she was able to take my breath away.
“That’s not true.”
“It is. Have you forgotten who I am? Elysion, she’s the Queen of Rogues, and the legend is in her belly. The Silver Wolves will never wake up if that baby is born.”
“No, that’s not true. That cannot be true!” I grabbed the knife from my bureau and pushed her onto the bed, putting the knife under her neck. “Don’t talk about things you don’t know. That stupid girl can be the Queen of Rogues.”
“When she turns 18, everyone will know it. The Silver Wolves will never wake up. If you don’t believe me, check the mark on her chest. The mark is connected to her belly.”
I shook my head.
“Liar!”
She laughed.
“Check it out!”
“You know what happens to the witches who lie, right? They go to the fire!”
“Check it out!”
Shocking my head, I ran out of my room and went to the dungeon where Aubree was.
“Your Majesty!” One of the warriors expressed when he saw me.
“Open the dungeon!”
“But the maid is feeding her.”
“Open the d*mn dungeon!”
The warrior took the keys and opened the gate. The maid was with Aubree, who seemed so weak.
“Your Majesty, I-” The maid said.
I grabbed Aubree, who was tied up by feet and hands, and tore her blouse, revealing her chest. For the first time, I didn’t feel tempted by her beautifulness. I paid attention to the marks on her chest, and there it was. Behind all those scars was the mark Locasta had talked about.
My eyes widened. I stepped back, like I feared her. And I indeed feared her. Locasta hadn’t lied. Aubree was the Queen of Rogues, in her belly was my son and the legend everyone talked about.
“Your Majesty, are you okay?” I heard in the distance.
When I was out of the dungeon, I fell on my knees. The warrior, who had opened the gate for me, came to me.
“Your Majesty, are you okay?”
“Prepare the fire.”
“What?”
“Prepare the dam fire! Didn’t you hear me? Prepare the d*mn fire! This prisoner is one of the rogues who killed my brother and his wife.” I lied.
“Yes, yes, Your Majesty. I’ll prepare everything.”
That baby couldn’t be born, and Aubree has to die, so the legend will be dead forever.
AUBREE’S POV
Tied to a wooden pole, I couldn’t stop screaming. I was so weak, and I still wanted to fight for this baby and me. I’m asking for just one opportunity to get out of here. What am I paying? What sin am I paying? I’m so weak, everything seems like an illusion now. I just want to protect my son and myself.
‘Moon Goddess, haven’t you realized this baby is my reason to live?’
“Please, please… I-I… I b-beg y-you!” I said as loud as I could.
In front of me was my stepfather as the Beta of the King, some warriors, and the father of this baby. I’ll never forgive him for the countless times he abused me in the many ways a person can be abused.
“You thought it was going to be so easy to get away with this, Aubree? You were the daughter of the people who killed the kings of this kingdom. Do you know how hard it has been for me to raise my nephews? They still live for the day they can see their parents again! But no more! No more! I found one of the people who killed my brother, and you’re going to pay for that! Set the fire!” He ordered.
“No! No! Please, please, I beg you, I didn’t do anything! Please! Please, have mercy on me!”
The warriors came to set the fire under me. I could feel the heat even when it hadn’t reached my feet.
“Please, please, I beg you… I didn’t do anything. My mother didn’t kill those people! Have mercy on me! Sir, this baby is yours! Please!” I cried out.
‘Moon goddess, if you’re fair to us, have mercy on me. My mother didn’t kill those people. She couldn’t have. Please, it’s my son… It's me. I’ve suffered so much.’
And the fire reaching my feet made me scream loudly, in pain, with no one who wanted to save me. They just observed. They just enjoyed my pain.
“Please, please… I’m burning!”
So, this is how hell feels?
They’ve been unfair to me. If I’m able to reincarnate again, they’ll pay… They’ll pay for my pain throughout these years.
MATE!
30th, MARCH, 2023
“Please, please, I beg you… I didn’t do anything. My mother didn’t kill those people! Have mercy on me! Sir, this baby is yours! Please!” I cried out.
‘Moon goddess, if you’re fair to us, have mercy on me. My mother didn’t kill those people. She couldn’t have. Please, it’s my son… It's me. I’ve suffered so much.’
“Wake up, wake up, wake up, my daughter!”
Startled, I woke up from that nightmare again. I looked around to make sure that I was still in the same place where I found peace and security months ago. Nothing had changed, and I was glad for that. I wiped away the sweat from my forehead and sat up, looking for my sandals with my feet. I yawned. It was getting late to start a new day.
When I reached the kitchen, I saw my friend.
“Hey!” Carol greeted me.
I smiled at her.
Carol had been my
