Elena Harrison was once destined for greatness. As the daughter of an Alpha, she was meant to lead, to find her mate, and to stand proudly by his side. But fate had other plans. Branded at 22, she became a disappointment—not just to her pack but to the entire werewolf community. Now, she drowns herself in relentless training, trying to prove that she is more than the mark on her skin. But when her long-awaited mate finally appears, he isn’t the salvation she hoped for. Instead, he’s the one who rejects her first. Determined to carve her own path, Elena refuses to break. But as dark forces threaten the balance of the werewolf world, the same mate who once turned his back on her may be the only one who can save her. Or will she be the one to save him? In a world where fate is absolute, can she defy destiny and reclaim her power—or will she remain branded forever?

Chapter 1

PROLOGUE

It is not nice to be unfortunate.

In the same manner, as they are cautioned about hell or rogues, puppies are warned about it.

It is a reality of life, and once you are branded, people will recognize you. It is neither a title nor a function. Nothing can get rid of the brand that is on the left shoulder blade.

The Harrison family appears to be cursed; how else could you explain a family member getting branded every generation? Normally, only low-ranked pack members receive branding.

CHAPTER 1

Along the wooded walk, the paws pounded the twigs, making them ineffective.

The gray wolf rushed steadily and quickly along the trail, the strap of the sack he was holding slowly tearing apart.

He darted into the area and came to a sudden stop, tripping over himself and landing at the feet of a blonde who was furious.

With her arms crossed over her chest and a frown on her face, she taps her foot.

She growls, turns on her heel, and moves in the direction of a big mansion. "You had a meeting at eleven," she says.

The wolf transforms into a man with ease, putting on a pair of shorts and jogging after her.

The man cries, "Elena, no, stop, please don't ignore me," as he eventually catches up to her.

"York, I had to put up with that pathetic jerk for twenty minutes. This week, you have missed two of your appointments with him. She gives him a stare that would kill any rational man, growling, "You're the alpha, not me."

"Ave," he complains, "you had the opportunity to be alpha! You still have the option if you so want.

Elena spins around and puts her hand around his throat in response to his attempt to calm things down.

As he passes her and enters his office, York easily pries off her fingers while rolling his eyes.

"Did anybody else call, or was it just Dante?" Looking over his shoulder, he asks as he enters the room leading to his adjoining office.

"Dad. Expressing regret to me for being careless and asking why we're both still unmarried. Elena throws herself into her chair behind her desk and says, "And Arabella from Blue Bramble called four times for you."

York rolls his eyes at her after staring at her for a moment as if processing the information.

"Arabella. I believe I advised you to get rid of her. With a groan, he pulls on a shirt and puts his glasses on his nose.

"Yes, I did. Then you let her down one more. She sighs and rummages through the massive stack of pages before her. "It's your problem now, little man."

She looks at York, who appears a little anxious and crosses another item off the lengthy list to her right.

Elena shrugs and smiles mischievously. "Well, at least she's not pregnant," she says.

"F*ck off, Elena. York mutters, "Don't put thoughts like that into my head," as he hesitantly opens his laptop and runs a hand through his sandy blond hair.

With their computers beeping every few minutes, the Harrison siblings labor through the remainder of the afternoon in rather quiet conditions.

"How does it feel to be an Unfortunate?" the man at the head of the table asks, "Elena," and the blonde girl straightens herself a little before turning to face him.

Everyone around her turns to the man and begins growling at him, and she stops, feeling her heart tighten a little.

Elena's eyes are flashing dark, but she is controlling her rage.

Elena is thinking of letting her loose on this pitiful Alpha who is attempting to show her wolf.

Elena's cold blue eyes pierce his pitiful soul as the visiting alpha stiffens a little.

"Well, for a while, it was depressing. She smirks, and the man's face turns red with rage. "But then I remembered, I can screw anybody I want and don't have to listen to any man," she says.

"Richard, are you going to let her speak like this and act like that?" Elena's father looks up from his electronic tablet, just raising a brow as the man gasps.

"Well, I'm completely content that I won't have to worry about grand pups anytime soon. She also has a lot of talent. That's what a mate would suppress. Richard gives his daughter a shoulder pat and goes back to whatever he was reading. "She deserves to have fun, the same fun your sons have, Kyle."

The man realizes that York is still staring at Kyle and looks disdainful.

"Still unmated, York?" The blonde sighs as he sneers.

"Well, I am the council's youngest Alpha. To the terror of a red-headed woman, the young man shrugs and says, "I suppose I'll just have to keep my whores and my title."

"Children! Language!" After reprimanding, she returns to her soup.

Kyle murmurs, "Ruffians, all of them," to which the four members of Rapid Rock's alpha family in attendance respond, "Hmm?"

York and Elena were the ideal combination; their surfer-esque, stupid blonde appearance caused other Alphas to question them, but always to their cost. They controlled board rooms and were severe and frigid.

Their middle sister didn't count because she wasn't a team player.

Both of them are upset and return to their office after the unsuccessful supper.

"Who are you taking tonight, oh demon queen?" York looks at his sister and taunts her, almost seeing steam escape from her strained body.

"Perhaps your beta. Your gamma, perhaps. He frowns as she complains, rolling her eyes at him, "I haven't decided yet."

He hisses, "Would you leave the gamma alone, he's so tired," and Elena furrows her brow in response.

She licks her lips and smirks, "He's the gamma for a reason, he plans and executes very well," much to York's dismay.

When he murmurs, "Jesus Christ, if you leave him alone, I'll stop going to Arabella," Elena shrugs and smirks.

She chuckles as she types some notes from her pages onto her laptop. "Find out where your Beta is," she says.

"He's mated now, you know that," York complains, his flawless forehead marred by a deep frown.

Elena snaps, "I need his help with a file, dumbass," in response.

York's mouth opens and shuts in stillness.

After ten minutes of working in silence, Elena receives a mind link.

She hisses, "For f*ck sake," and gets up so fast that her chair topples over.

"Delimitations. She barks, "Alpha Dante is here," and York jumps up, appearing quite disturbed.

"I don't want to speak with him, and I haven't seen him in two years. As the two siblings rush through the mansion's hallways to head to the border, York murmurs, "Anyone else would get the memo, I've skipped twelve meetings."

The idea of dealing with the 22-year-old leader, whose pack had the strangest regulations she had ever seen, makes Elena frown all the time.

Ever since he turned Alpha, Elena had refused to see him face-to-face. His son was even worse than his father, who she couldn't stand. Religious and pious were two things she detested.

When the two reached the border, they noticed their father, who had a frown firmly fixed on his face and was holding his tablet.

"York, you better take responsibility for this, I'm not having the Death Mountain pack on my doorstep again," he murmurs.

Elena and her father agreed that the Death Mountain pack's policies were the primary reason they didn't like them.

The father and daughter had given the pack the term Death Mountain because they believed in offering human sacrifices to the Goddess, even though the pack's true name was Moonstone Mountain.

Dealing with them made no one happy.

Elena, though, was presumably the most unhappy.

Chapter 2

One had to admit that Alpha Dante was a handsome man.

Standing a head over the majority of the pack warriors, he was strapping. He had chocolate-colored skin and the most captivating eyes Elena had ever seen.

However, he was wearing his trademark smug grin as usual. Before he had even opened his mouth, he had irritated her once more.

With his arms extended, he approached Elena and gave her a hug when his gaze fell on her and a smile appeared on his lips.

She gave him a throat punch.

"Goddess, and I thought you might be happy to see me!" He smiles, "Miss Harrison, the video cameras don't do you justice. You look even more beautiful in person.

York looks anxiously at his sister as Elena keeps staring at him and raises a brow slightly. Moonstone was a fairly quiet, tranquil pack, so he didn't need her to start a pack war, but it wouldn't come to that.

Since Dante had succeeded his father, that is, they were.

As Elena keeps looking at the
