Chapter 1
Kaelin stood at the edge of the supernatural underworld, gazing out at the cityscape. The lights of the human world twinkled like stars, a stark contrast to the darkness that lurked within his own realm.
His mind was consumed by the recent betrayal of his inner circle member, Damon.
The memory of Damon's deceitful smile and treacherous words still burned in Kae's mind like a branding iron.
"Kae, we need to talk about Damon's betrayal," Lyra said, her voice low and urgent as she approached him. Her piercing red eyes gleamed with a mix of concern and curiosity in the dim light of the underworld.
Kae's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger. "I'll handle Damon," he growled, his deep voice sending a ripple through the shadows. "But first, I need to find out why he betrayed me."
Lyra was skeptical. "You know as well as I do, Kae. Damon was always ambitious. He wanted more power, and he was willing to do whatever it took to get it."
Kae's gaze turned inward, his thoughts consumed by the past. He had considered Damon a friend, a brother in arms. But now, he realized that their bond had been built on lies and deceit.
As they spoke, someone caught their attention. A human, unaware of the supernatural world, stumbled into their realm. Kae's eyes locked onto the intruder, his instincts on high alert.
The human, Akira, looked around in confusion, her bright green eyes wide with fear. She was petite, with curly brown hair and a smattering of freckles across her cheeks. Kae felt a pang of curiosity, mixed with a hint of danger.
"Who is she?" Lyra asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Kae's gaze never left Akira. "I don't know, but she's definitely not from around here."
Akira took a step back, her eyes fixed on Kae and Lyra. She looked like a deer caught in the headlights, frozen in fear.
Her eyes darted back and forth, searching for an escape. But there was none. She was trapped in Kae's world, surrounded by creatures she couldn't even begin to comprehend.
Kae's thoughts turned inward, his mind racing with possibilities. What was a human doing here? And why did she smell so... Pure?
He took a step closer, his eyes locked on Akira's. She trembled, her fear palpable. But Kae's instincts told him she wasn't a threat. Not yet, anyway.
"Who are you?" Kae demanded, his voice low and menacing.
Akira swallowed hard, her voice barely above a whisper. "I-I'm Akira. I don't know how I got here."
Kae narrowed his gaze. "You're a long way from home, Akira. What brought you to our world?"
Akira's eyes darted to Lyra, then back to Kae. "I don't know. I was just walking home from work, and then... then I was here."
Kae looked at her closely. A human, in their world, by accident? It was unheard of. He needed to know more.
"Akira, tell me more about yourself," Kae said, his voice low and commanding.
Akira trembled, her fear palpable. But she spoke, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I-I'm just a normal person. I work as an accountant, I have friends and family... I don't know how I got here."
Kae's gaze narrowed. "You're not normal, Akira. You're in our world now for a reason. And you need to understand the rules."
Lyra stepped forward, her eyes gleaming with a mix of curiosity and concern. "Kae, maybe we should take her to the mansion. She can stay there until we figure out what to do with her."
Kae's thoughts of what Lyra said. It's very risky, but he had no other choice. He needed to keep her close to understand her presence in their world.
"Lyra, take Akira to the mansion," Kae commanded, his voice low and authoritative.
"See that she's comfortable. I'll deal with Damon myself."
Lyra nodded, her eyes gleaming with a mix of curiosity and concern. "As you wish, Kae."
Akira trembled, and still in fear. But she followed Lyra, her eyes fixed on Kae's back.
Kae watched them go, his mind still wasn't settled. What was Akira's purpose in their world? And how would he keep her safe from the dangers that lurked within?
As he pondered, someone emerged from the shadows. Lycan, Kae's younger brother and third-in-command, approached him with a mix of concern and curiosity.
"Kae, what's going on?" Lycan asked, his voice low and urgent. "I sensed a human presence. What's happening?"
Kae narrowed his gaze. "One Akira, a human, stumbled into our world. I've taken her to the mansion for her own protection."
Lycan's eyes widened. "A human? Here? That's impossible!"
Kae's jaw clenched. "I know. But it's happened. And we need to figure out why."
Lycan nodded, his eyes gleaming with determination. "I'll start investigating. See if I can find any leads on how she got here."
Kae nodded. "Be careful, Lycan. We don't know what we're dealing with."
As Lycan departed, Kae continue battling with his thoughts. He needed to focus on the task at hand: protecting Akira and uncovering the truth behind her presence in their world.
But as he turned to leave, a voice echoed in his mind. Damon's voice.
"You'll never be able to protect her, Kae," Damon sneered. "She's a pawn in a much larger game. And you're just a foolish king, blind to the danger lurking in the shadows."
Kae's anger start burning hot. He would find Damon, and he would make him pay for his betrayal.
As he turned to leave, Lyra approached him, her eyes was filled with concern. "Kae, I've taken Akira to the mansion. She's safe, for now."
Kae nodded, "Thank you, Lyra. I need to focus on finding Damon and uncovering the truth behind Akira's presence here as well."
Lyra nodded, her expression determined. "I'll help you, Kae. We'll find Damon and make him pay for what he had done."
Kae's thoughts was consumed by the task ahead. He would stop at nothing to protect Akira and his realm from the dangers that lurked in the shadows.
Chapter 2
Akira huddled in the corner of the opulent bedroom, her eyes fixed on the door. She couldn't believe what had happened. One minute she was walking home from work, the next she was in a strange, supernatural world.
Lyra, the woman who had brought her to the mansion, entered the room. "Akira, you're safe here. No one will harm you."
Akira's stuttered. "Why should I trust you? You're one of them."
Lyra's expression softened. "I know it's hard to understand, but we mean you no harm. Kae, our Alpha, will protect you."
Akira snorted. "Protect me? From what?"
Lyra hesitated before speaking. "From those who would seek to harm you. You're a human in a supernatural world, Akira. Trust me, you're very vulnerable."
Akira's fear spiked. She was trapped in a world she didn't understand, surrounded by creatures who could harm her.
"What do you mean, 'supernatural world'?" A
