TORN BETWEEN BROTHERS

It's about 5:10pm and I was at the TARO'S CAFE clearing out the tables.

I have been waiting tables since early this morning and right now my body hurts.

I have been working like this for 8 years now in order to provide for my family.

Last year my mother was diagnosed of kidney failure. Since then she has been undergoing dialysis and now things have taken a turn for the worst.

My junior brother JEFF HIDALGO is in his final year in secondary school and he will soon be writing his final examination, the bills just keep piling up.

" AMBER, AMBER" I hear JOHN the cafe manager call my name from behind me

" Yes sir " I respond almost immediately

" Lost again in thought I see" He says with a straight face

" No, sir " I lie with my head hung low

" Really now. Does that explain why you have been cleaning up that same table for the past 5 minutes?" He ask with a serious tone

" I didn't notice sir, forgive my impudence. it will never happen again " I say in a sorry tone

" No problem, you can leave now" he say to me before turning to another waitress who was standing a few feet away from us ."TERESA continues from where she stopped "

' Am I getting fired, No,no . Maybe he is getting fade up with me . I can't afford to lose this job ' I think to myself

" sir please don't fire me. I don't want to lose this job , I love my job " I beg on my knees crying.

Just then all eyes turned towards us in anticipation.

" Amber what is wrong with you?. can you stop making a scene . I am not going to fire you " He says in a serious tone

" but you asked her to take my place " I state still crying

" yeah because your shift is over " He informs simply

" Oh really " I said in an ashamed, as I stand up shamefully and everyone burst into laughter and I joined them

" Sorry about that sir " I apologize once more

" It's fine. you better leave now and don't be late for work tomorrow " He say

" Sure sir" I responded before leaving.

I moved to the back to change out of my uniform before leaving and just then I heard the sound of my phone buzzing.

when I see the caller ID a board smile appeared on my face

" Hello my love " I say with a board smile

" How is my baby doing " He ask sweetly

" Your baby is cool just a little stressed from work and you my love? " I asked with a smile

" Nothing much just a little stressed as well " He say

" How about we have dinner tonight around 7pm " he suggest

" I will love to, it has been quite a while we spent quality time together " I say with a smile

" yeah, is it alright if I invite CLARA and ROMANRICK on a double date" He ask.

Clara, Romarick and I go way back.

Clara happens to be the my father's adopted daughter with his then mistress, who is now his wife.

He abandoned us for them a couple of years back.

Romanrick on the other hand happens to be my first love. I know what you might be thinking, that things are weird between us, and you would not be wrong.

Especially since I am currently in a relationship with his cousin and he is in a relationship with my sister.

" I don't see why not " I say with a smile and just then I hear the bashing sound of the door on the other side of the phone and then I heard yelling.

I think that voice must belongs to ROMANRICK

" what is the meaning of this rubbish? " I hear him ask angrily

" I will send you the address later. love you " He says

" Love you too " I say before he hangs up the call

" I wonder what could have made ROMANRICK that angry " I wonder to myself before returning to what I was doing.

THIS SCENE TAKES PLACE AT 5:15 IN ROMANRICK'S OFFICE AT MILLER'S COOPORATION ( A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY OWNED BY ROMANRICK'S GRANDFATHER DON ROMANOS MILLERS ) .

ROMANRICK MILLERS, POV

I have been working all day on our lastest project A multi MILLION dollar mall and as of the moment I am the acting general manager of this company.

Sebastian is the head of the finance department.

Grandpa insisted on me and Sebastian running the company till he decides on an heir.

Grandpa has grown fun of telling us what to do. I mean he doesn't even care that I have a business of my own and so does SEBASTIAN .

' I am so getting tired of being bossed around'- I tell myself, before hearing a knock at my door.

' Who dares to bother me'

I hate being interrupted when I am working , that's why I specifically ordered Silvia my personal assistant to free my schedule.

" Come in" I order in a deep voice, accentuating my annoyance.

The door opens and Silvia my P. A, a beautiful young lady in her mid 20s, walks in. She has beautiful blue eyes, a small pointed nose, pink lips , brown hair and fair skin. Today she is wearing a white fitting T-shirt, a short black skirt and a pair of black heels that complimented her outfit.

She is holding a folder in hand.

" Good day sir " she greets

" Didn't I tell you not to disturb me " I ask angrily with a serious demeanor

" Actually.....Emm sir.....you see...." she stammers

" Stop stammering and tell me what you want" I order with a straight face

" ok sir. Mr Sebastian asked me to give me you this " she says handing me the folder in her hand

' Finally Sebastian has drafted the budget for the mall ' -I thing to myself before going through the file in my hand and I am highly disappointed by what I see.

It looks like it was drafted by a 5 year old .

I got so mad.

I lift my head up to look at her, and just then my eyes met with a pair of beautiful blue staring intensely at me

" What are you staring at ?" I asked angrily, more like transfer of agression.

Quite frankly this is not the first time I have seen Silvia staring at me lustfully.

I don't know what always goes through her mind when she does that, if I didn't know better I would think she has a crush on me or something

" Nothing sir " she responds almost immediately

" Are you sure , Sebastian handed you this? " I ask still angry

" Yes sir " she assures

" Where is he " I ask as I squeeze the folder in my tight grip

" In his office sir " she says and I angrily rush out to his office .

I bash into his office angrily

" What is the meaning of this rubbish? " I yell before realizing he is on the phone.

So I just grab a seat opposite to his and crossed my legs while glaring at him

' who could Sebastian be talking to that is making him all smiles'- I think to myself, and just then I hear him say

" I will send you the address, love you "

' Of course, who else could it be. if not that gold digging girlfriend of his'- I think bitterly to myself before he cuts the call

" what gives man?. Why did he bash into my office like that? " He ask in a bit of a p*ss*d tone and I throw the twisted folder in hand to his desk

" Go over that first then you will know" I say in an emotionless tone

" Wait man, isn't this the draft I took hours to prepare, you just ruined " He says angrily

" shut up and just go through it " I order

" whatever " he responds before going through the file.

I could clearly see his eyes widen as he goes through the file.

" I am so sorry bro , I think I must have mixed it up with another file " I said in a sorry tone

" it's cool just get to it " I ordered him before I stood up from my seat to leave but just then SEBASTIAN voice stopped me

" I will work on it first thing tomorrow morning " He said

" And why if I may ask ?" I asked him with a straight face

" I have a date with my woman tonight and I have to go get a bath first " He said with a smile

" Haven't that gold digging girlfriend of yours caused enough for today" I stated

" What do you mean ?" He asked curiously

" She is the reason why you can't concentrate on your job. Don't you see brother, that woman is only using you" I said angrily

" How could you say a thing like that , Yes do I get a little distracted when she is not around and even moreso when she isn't around but not once have she ever used me . she has never demanded a thing from me in our 3 months relationship " He stated

" Or maybe she's just waiting for the right time, just like a patient VIPER waiting for its prey" I said angrily

" my woman is not a VIPER and I will appreciate it if you never call her a gold digger again " He said bitterly

" Whatever, cancel your plans for tonight and complete your work " I said with a stained voice

" Alright I will cancel it " He said as he took up his phone

' That's it . he is not going to argue with me that's so on like him . I wonder what he must be planning now'

" why are you so calm about it? " I asked in anticipation

" Nothing really, I guess I will just have to cancel on CLARA then " He said with a smile

' I thought he was going out on a date with ROSE ,where did this talk about CLARA come from ' I thought to myself

" What are you talking about? " I asked while giving him a strong glare .

" Well I kinda invited both AMBER AND CLARA on a double dinner date tonight" he said with a smile

" What??? and you didn't think it wise to inform me about it " I asked angrily

" Sorry my bad . I will just cancel " He said in a sorry tone

" Don't . just send me the address of the restaurant and don't ever repeat something like this again " I said angrily before leaving his office but not before he gives me a sarcastic

" Yes sir "

I seriously feel bad for Sebastian. He has no idea what a snake that Amber Rose is , but I know too well. She's like slow poison who gives you the illusion of safe, while slowly destroying you. I should know, I gave her my heart first.

ROMANRICK POV

AT ONE OF THE BIGGEST CLASS RESTAURANT IN THE COUNTRY. 6:55 PM

I am at the restuarant where our double date was scheduled to take place . I arrived here first with SEBASTIAN but unfortunately there was only one parking spot available , so I had to take my opportunity and grab it.

Just then I heard SEBASTIAN cursing "f*ck you man" .

I just smiled and walked in, A waitress wearing a short black skirt and a tight fitting white T-shirt which wasn't doing much covering because all her breast were outside approached me .

" Good day sir , do you have a reservation sir " she asked

" yes , reservations by SEBASTIAN MILLERS " I state and she answers almost immediately

" Right this way sir " She say and I follow her to a VIP table with 4 seats

" Would you like to order something, while you wait " She ask with a smile

" No thanks, I will just order when my companions get here" I say with a small smile
