Lyra found herself in a marriage that she thought would work. She had high hopes for her husband and wanted to see a better version of him. However, her dreams were shattered when she realized that her husband was about to betray her instead of surprising her. Feeling hurt, she ran off, not knowing that this was the beginning of a new adventure involving a business tycoon from Infinity Groups, named Orion.
Chapter 1: remember this is your lost
"Here is your order, madam; please sign here," the delivery man said. He had a smile on his face as he handed over the papers to be signed.
When the papers were signed, he left, leaving Lyra still standing, staring aimlessly at the well-decorated building. A smile curled on Lyra's lips as she went to meet her friend in the sitting room.
Her friend, Dora, was wearing a dark skinny dress with beautiful blue eyes. She had mild make-up, and her eyes glowed when they made eye contact.
"Today is our first anniversary's; I want to make this a special day for me and David," Lyra beams with a smile. "But you know your marriage has been rough; he hardly has dinners with you; his gaze is void of any emotion; and he looks at you with nothing but disgust," Dora added with a concerned look.
She manoeuvred herself close to her friend as she stared at her intently and lowered her voice. "Don't feel like I want to ruin your marriage or anything, but is it worth it? Why not use this day to get to a party, chill, and be with friends rather than wasting your time on that jerk?"
Lyra was surprised by her friends' advice. "Dora! That's enough; I won't tolerate you calling my husband that. I love him, and I know he loves me too. Just that too many things have been on him, and I know he'll change with time," Lyra said.
"Duh, whatever," she snarled as she rolled her eyes.
Lyra stood up, picked up the delivery package, and went straight to the car. She was infuriated at the fact that her friend was trying to advise her against her husband, yet something within her knew that Dora was right because he barely offers any attention.
Dora was surprised at the turn of events; she didn't expect a sudden reaction from her friend. The reaction made her wonder if Lyra was now thinking with her heart or with her brain because anyone could see the red flags David was giving off.
When Lyra reached the hotel, she went to the hotel room she had booked. She decided she would celebrate her anniversary at the Rising Peaks Hotel, which was known for its elegance and beauty.
She walked into the room she had booked; her gaze wandered to the well-decorated bed, the brown-coloured wardrobe on the right, and the room, which was painted blue on the right and lilac on the left—these are David and Lyra's favourite colours, that's why Lyra decided to pick this room.
Lyra felt her heart pick its race when, as she walked further, her mind wandered to her first time after their wedding. She decided to pick this hotel room because she wanted a memorable day like that of her honeymoon.
It took her three full hours to decorate the room by adding some champagne, adding some coloured balloons all over the room, lighting the candles, and decorating the bed with flowers and a touch of fragrance. It has a romantic environment.
She smiled at a job well done as she decided to call David, telling him that she was waiting at their agreed venue. He didn't pick on the first try, but on the second, he picked. "Yes, honey?" His voice sounded unperturbed at the other end.
"I am waiting for you; you are already late, David." Lyra sounded concerned, her voice broken, the liquid stains of tears threatening to find their way down her cheeks.
"Can't you see I'm busy, Lyra? Yes, you told me about a surprise anniversary date, but right now I'm in the office. I have a lot of things to do at work, but I'll still try my best to make it, but if I can't make it, fine." He sounded agitated at the other end as he ended the call abruptly.
Lyra held the phone tightly; her mouth opened to say a word, but nothing escaped her lips. The tears that she's been trying to hold back slowly find their way down her cheeks. Lyra still waited for her husband; she still hoped and prayed he'd come; she wanted to surprise him.
Seconds, followed by minutes, and then slow-burning hours went by, yet her husband David was still yet to arrive. Giving her the impression that he might not come. Something in her still hoped; she had planned so much for this day. So she decided to take a stroll down the corridor.
Painful tears slowly pricked the corners of her eyes as she thought about everything, taking gentle strides until she heard a familiar voice that piqued her interest. She was standing beside room 54; she leaned closer; maybe she misheard.
"Yes, yes, moan for me, baby." His voice lingered more loudly. Maybe she was hallucinating; she couldn't imagine her husband in the room.
"Please ride me; I love it when you sway your body on my c*ck," he added, confirming her thoughts.
She shook her head; her fist was clenched; her heartbeat accelerated; and her body temperature increased. She wanted to confirm her doubts, so she knocked so as not to cause any alarm.
She could hear him and the unknown lady scrambling their feet. He arrived at the door, slightly opened the door, and immediately his mouth was wide open when David saw his wife standing at the door. Lyra opened her mouth to say something, but not a word could escape her lips.
She was surprised to have confirmed that it was David who was in room 54. She barged in, pushing him aside. She wanted to see who was with her husband. She stopped dead in her tracks without moving an inch. She was beyond shocked when she noticed the lady, who was covered in white sheets, naked on the bed.
"D.... Dora?" She asked gently. Dora's face had turned white. She tried to cover her face with the sheets due to embarrassment, but her actions proved futile.
She turned to look back at David, who was still standing by the door; his face was now pale. David was expecting a reaction from her; he thought she was going to slap him, beat him, insult him, or at least yell at him. But none of that happened; rather, she just nodded her head and smiled—a sad smile.
"Thank you, I mean both of you, thank you; I just don't know what else to say, but remember, David, that this is your loss." With that, she left the both of them in the room as she ran out to the nearest restroom. She felt like her heart was about to explode with so many unspoken emotions; her heart ached, and more tears trickled down her cheeks.
The pain she had never experienced in her life before, the pain of betrayal, and the thought that it was her friend who was having an affair with her husband were unbearable. She was sobbing uncontrollably in the restroom, but not until she heard a voice. She noticed someone—someone who would forever change her life.
Chapter 2: terms and conditions apply
A lady briskly walked past her; she was about to go into the restroom; her heart thumped so fast against her rip cage; she felt her heart race; she didn't want the young lady to see her face. The young lady turned to look at her as she pleaded with her to help her hold her ID card while she made use of the restroom. Lyra was unsure, but she still reluctantly collected the ID card.
She scrutinized the card, her lips curled into a smile when she recalled the way she had once worked in a hotel like the young lady. She was standing there while reminiscing about her past, so she decided to try the ID on.
A man walked in; he was wearing a black suit while matching a pair of Italian shoes, and his hair was neatly trimmed. His hands were tightly clenched, and his brows were knitted, which shows his anger.
He checked Lyra's ID as he walked up towards her. "I have been looking for you, Selina, to go and serve our clients in room 85, yet you were nowhere to be found."
